Doncaster Away

Oh that's terrific. So I (a club member living in Leeds who's desperate to go to this game) now can't because the club won't post the ticket to me (as they have done for every single other away game for which I've ever ordered a ticket)?

Pathetic customer service.

It wont sell out just pay on the day. I live in Sheffield and thats what I plan on doing.

No dramas.

Do you mean sit with the home fans? No chance. I've done that twice and have found it an absolute nightmare (Luton away 95 in FA Cup and Liverpool away under Dave Jones, when we won 3-2. I almost got a savage pasting after failing to keep my identity under wraps when we went 3-1 up in the 92nd minute).

It is a shabby way to treat away fans, but best thing to do is get on with it i suppose, buy them in person at the Brighton or Hull home games or ask them to bring them up and collect at Donny, although that is inconvenience on the away day in case there are any problems.

Have done the waiting for last travel coach to arrive with tickets thing plenty of times. Usually ends up a frustrating day waiting around for ages, sometimes right up to kick off time, being told to go to different collection points, wrong queues, people etc before getting tickets or finding your name is not on list! Totally messes up meeting up with mates for pre match beers and have missed start of games waiting on occassions. No other entertaintment business or sport treats its customers like this.

Exactly. All your mates are in the pub enjoying a couple of pints and you're stood out in the rain chasing around to see where the tickets are being dropped off. Not really what people go to away games for. S**te customer service from Saints ticket office yet again.

I can promise you the away end will 100% not sell out.

Even if the club offered for the tickets to be posted out recorded delivery for a little extra, that would be something.

What I find strange is Adkins in his interviews is always going on about how great our support is and how it means so much, as do the players on Twitter. Yet the club seem to try and make it hard as possible for fans to book tickets at times. No on-line sales when they're on restricted sale, booking fees, collection only, limited information, tucking away news articles regarding ticket sales on the OS.

I can only assume they pay little interest to away ticket sales as there is no profit to be made.

Where To Drink?

As the stadium is on the outskirts of town, then there is not much choice in the way of pubs. There is though the Lakeside, a Beefeater outlet near Stadium Way (you should catch sight of it, if you drive towards the stadium from Junction 3 of the M18). Chris Parkes a visiting Nottingham Forest supporter informs me; 'I had no problems with getting a drink in the Lakeside Beefeater, in fact there were more Forest fans in there than home fans before the game. We were also allowed in after the game for a pint or two while the traffic cleared.' The pub also has a separate restaurant section. Whilst David Rose adds; 'There is a bar in the bowling alley next to the Vue Cinema, which is situated on the other side of the lake'.

Dave a Norwich City fan tells me; 'There is a bar at the stadium itself, which we were allowed to go into. It does get very busy in the hour up to kick off but if you get in early, as we did, you should be okay. The bar has plenty of seating, as well as an organised queuing system to avoid the normal bustle at the bar. There was no food available though.' Alcohol is also available inside the stadium.

What pubs are people thinking. Fortunately only a short trip for me and my mate from Sheffield, thinking of getting over to Donny for about half 12?

There's not much choice. Went in the Lakeside near the ground last time and it was away-fan-friendly and ok.

Will probably do the same again.

There's plenty of pubs in town, lots of good one's so take your pick. 10 mins ina cab down to the ground for a quick one in that Lakeside place for going in the ground.

Went to St Marys ticket office after the Brighton game to get our Donny tickets to be told they were still only selling to ST holders and could I come back later in the week? Unfortunately not possible as I had driven from Cumbria to see the Brighton game and was going straight back.

Asked if I could pick them up from the bus and was told 'probably' but the right person is not here to confirm. Anyway I've done that before and on two occasions they haven't had our tickets with them when the bus arrives. That means pay again on the day and get a refund to the credit card. All very messy.

So, on return to Cumbria rang Donny and asked if away tickets would be available on the day and they said 'Yes definitely. Go to the Soccer Centre at the North end of the ground after 1pm and there will be tickets available, but for cash only'.

So I guess we don't have much option and that's what we will have to do.

Really not good customer service I'm afraid. Still three points on Saturday and I'll forgive 'em all.

Been told that all of our tickets will be going up on the supporters coach, no problem, as they understand that not everyone can collect them from SMS.

All change,

Looks like I will be there on Saturday as I have been royally ****ed over by my boss.

Anyway as every cloud has a silver lining I shall be at the Lakeside Early and then in the Keepmoat (if the tickets turn up.)

Spoke to Doncaster ticket office today and they are confidant that there will be tickets for sale for the away end (but cash only)

If you spot a sad old bloke with an improbably large tash, say hello as I'll be happy but lonely.

Does anyone know - paid for 4 tickets and told by the young lady they can be picked up at Doncaster, but she wasn't sure where they can be picked up.. Does anyone know whether it will be at the ticket office or is it somewhere else !!

Ask their ticket office, if it's not their they'll point you in the right direction.
