for_heaven's_Saint Posted 5 November, 2011 Posted 5 November, 2011 I, like many people, was slightly sceptical about the signing of 'yet another' left back, considering most of us considered Harding more than worthy of a starting place and Dickson was adequate cover. However, since Fox has has settled into the team, I feel he's brought us another dimension. He's not only now extremely calm and confident at the back but going forward, particularly his crossing and set pieces, has given us am extra threat in games. I wasn't at the game today but believe he set up a goal? Wondeing if y'all have been similarly impressed?
View From The Top Posted 5 November, 2011 Posted 5 November, 2011 I think he's the mutts nutts personally but he was the root cause of their 2nd goal but made up for it with a peach of a ball for Guly's header. You'll not see a better cross all season.
S-Clarke Posted 5 November, 2011 Posted 5 November, 2011 Dowie was singing his praises on soccer Saturday, and saying that he delivered a ''world class cross'' for Gulys goal. Coventry fans even have a thread on their forum about that cross!
markr27 Posted 5 November, 2011 Posted 5 November, 2011 Doesn't seem to get forward as often as he could do (tactical?) - but when he does, his ball is superb.
Verbal Kint Posted 5 November, 2011 Posted 5 November, 2011 Disagree. Plays far too many long balls and doesn't get forward enough for someone with his crossing ability. He needs to start overlapping the way Frazer does. His defensive play has got better though. What a ball in that was today for the goal. Just wish he would get himself into attacking positions a bit more often

The Kraken Posted 5 November, 2011 Posted 5 November, 2011 Always said he would be a class addition; Harding is decent, but Fox is a step up. Great signing.
sammysaint Posted 6 November, 2011 Posted 6 November, 2011 Only seen him twice but he looks good just needs a bit of work on his defending if hes to look good next season in the prem should we get there, his on the ball talent is better then hardings and im sure as the season progresses he gets better and will be a great player hes still young enough to work on his game and become a decent LB in the prem.
S-Clarke Posted 6 November, 2011 Posted 6 November, 2011 Maybe he is told not to? Exactly, you can quite clearly see the difference in his play now, than when we first signed him. He's much more disciplined in a defensive role, before he used to just bomb forward and leave a gaping hole behind him for the other team to exploit. Now his defensive duties come first, which is exactly how it should be. Another case of our coaches making a player even better..
Chez Posted 6 November, 2011 Posted 6 November, 2011 he has great feet enabling him to get out of tight situations without resorting to hoofing it. Defensively sound, although not really tested yet. My biggest gripe is the number of hollywood cross field diagonal balls he plays that are either intercepted or go straight into touch. He needs to knock it simply down the line to Lallana more often. One thing that has surprised me is that he hasn't flown into tackles. I thought h had a reputation as a bit of a butter but he hasn't shown that at all. Very good signing so far.
SFKA South Woodford Posted 6 November, 2011 Posted 6 November, 2011 He was dog s**t at Cardiff, but since then he has made me eat my words about his ability, has been a very solid addition that shows Adkins gets it right 90% of the time when it comes to transfers.

beatlesaint Posted 6 November, 2011 Posted 6 November, 2011 Was very concerned about his defending when he first came here but last few games he has looked much much better defensively. So much so as a die cast Harding fan I now prefer Fox.
krissyboy31 Posted 6 November, 2011 Posted 6 November, 2011 (edited) Not knowing much about him when he first signed was a little perplexed, as we had Harding with Dickson and Mills as back up at LB. Has turned out to be a top signing though and in the category "better than we currently have!" So refreshing after years of collecting players of similar or less ability than we had. skintsaint Posted 7 November, 2011 Posted 7 November, 2011 Surprised he isnt in the Scottish team to be honest, especially when I see Stephen Crainey in there.
StVince1966 Posted 7 November, 2011 Posted 7 November, 2011 Certainly he has become from an average start here to a very exciting fullback lately looks a class above
SNSUN Posted 7 November, 2011 Posted 7 November, 2011 Incidentally, does nobody want to loan Dickson, or does Adkins not want to loan him out? Seems a bit harsh on him to not get game time one way or the other. Begrudgingly, as Harding is/was my favourite player, Fox has settled in very quickly, and has made full benefit of Harding's injury. Harding will play a part again, he is a very hard working player (although the nPC is perhaps his highest level talentwise), and a pro. I think it's fair to say that left back (even excluding Dickson) is one of our strongest positions in terms of squad cover.
