bender Posted 5 November, 2011 Posted 5 November, 2011 Absolutely gutted. Trains from Euston going not going anywhere. Thought we would stick it out and wait but in the end it there was nothing. Absoltely gutted. F*cking hate the rail service.
Doctoroncall Posted 5 November, 2011 Posted 5 November, 2011 Hopefully you can get compensation from your delays.
scotty Posted 5 November, 2011 Posted 5 November, 2011 Hopefully you can get compensation from your delays. Not the point really, is it. Our rail network is a joke. Why is it cheaper for one person to drive to london and back than to catch a train? Its just ridiculous. What is it now from Soton central to waterloo, thirty-plus quid for a day return?? for a 150-mile round trip? Daylight robbery.
RonManager Posted 5 November, 2011 Posted 5 November, 2011 Yeah me too. Got chatting with a few others whilst waiting in vain. First away match I've missed. Arse.
bender Posted 5 November, 2011 Author Posted 5 November, 2011 The rail network is run by pathetic scum who have no idea. They are all c@nts.

Absoltely gutted. F*cking hate the rail service. My sympathies, mate. Got absolutely stitched up as well. Took a chance at Euston and went to Watford Junction and then Milton Keynes before throwing in the towel and facing the same sh*t on the way back. Left the house at 10.45am and returned around 6.30pm without seeing a kick of a football or hearing any live commentary. Goal flashes came from a dodgy 3G connection, a haemorrhaging battery and a grainy Jeff Stelling. Great result; but a sh*t and futile day.

It gets worse----------- I thought about your scheme too but was told no way. We looked at other games on in London, as I didn't want to re-mortgage the house to go and see Arsenhole I decided to go and watch Brentford v Hartlepool. Got to their ground - no-one there - it was ORIENT v Hartlepool. D'OH!! What a frickin day!!!!!!!!!!

Danny R Posted 5 November, 2011 Posted 5 November, 2011 I'm sure you looked into it but you can go to Cov from Marylebone on Chiltern, they would have had to accept your ticket.

Like a self-loathing binge eater, that would have taken the desperation to another low.
Colbury Posted 5 November, 2011 Posted 5 November, 2011 Few of my mates had the same problem and ended up going to Leyton Orient.
Leicestersaint Posted 5 November, 2011 Posted 5 November, 2011 That is a bad business - transport in Britain is awful - apparently it took the Saints team bus 5 and a half hours to drive up from Soton to Coventry because of grid lock on the A34! It's pathetic.

Pedro Posted 5 November, 2011 Posted 5 November, 2011 Saints went up Friday, awful road considering its the main one to the midlands, when its good, its very good, when bad then its the worst.
Saint Samuel Posted 5 November, 2011 Posted 5 November, 2011 I'm sure you looked into it but you can go to Cov from Marylebone on Chiltern, they would have had to accept your ticket. My friend ended up going from Maryleborne and just made it, met us in the ground five minutes before kick off after changing at Lymington and jumping in a taxi at Coventry station.

You're probably right, though later on those trains were experiencing delays (not sure when if others made it OK). In hindsight, our mistake was that we didnt cut our losses with Virgin/London Midland. We were initially told that the problem was restricted to the Euston-Wembley area -and that things, north of Wembley, were OK, a point seemingly confirmed by the timetables. We took the overland to Watford Junction, thus taking us past the trouble spot, only to find that Watford Junction was also now affected. At some point, the operators must have decided that the problem was more serious than originally assumed, disrupting the entire line and beyond.

Greyhound, National Express and Megabus run coaches to Euston for £10-£15 each way. Punctual too.

stkev7 Posted 6 November, 2011 Posted 6 November, 2011 I think I must have got one of the last unaffected trains, arrived in at 11:40ish from Milton Keynes. My mates were on a train due to arrive 30 minutes after me yet that got cancelled so they had to go via Leicester, once there the train to Hinckley was cancelled as well so they ended up grabbing a taxi from Leicester to the game. Glad they made it because they had my match ticket! My train home was also cancelled so I just jumped on a random train in the end. Feel sorry for those of you that missed the game.
scotty Posted 6 November, 2011 Posted 6 November, 2011 Don't do it. I use the coaches. Greyhound, National Express and Megabus run coaches to Euston for £10-£15 each way. Punctual too. Theyre even slower than driving. I've done the national express twice now, its about 2 and a half hours, isnt it? I can drive there and back on twenty quid tops, far as I'm concerned if I'm getting the coach I might as well drive myself, especially if theres a few of us.
ericb Posted 6 November, 2011 Posted 6 November, 2011 Is anyone else thinking of chancing it and trying to claim the cost of the match ticket back of the trains even though they made it?

I'm afraid that just sounds callous. Sounds like you didn't hear the bit where he said "it (the M5 crash) put it all into perspective then. Not callous at all. Sounds like the problems at Euston are still not resolved, power cables damaged at Wembley. Road travel is worse, took me 5 hours to get to Shrewsbury Friday before last, just over 120 miles. Problem that does hack me off is the disruption to rail at the weekends, for engineering work, seems like weekend travellers are classed as 2nd class citizens. I therefore have a round trip down to Southampton tonight to get my daughter back to Uni due to engineering works at Eastleigh.

What do you expect from a 'privatised' rail system that has TWENTY FOUR franchises all vying for the same customers? British Rail wasn't perfect but at least it was 'OUR' railway. We subsidise the current bunch of 'operators' to a higher degree than we did BR and still they charge more!
Graffito Posted 6 November, 2011 Posted 6 November, 2011 Commiserations. That would have been me but for flu. I bet you weren't thinking of 5 positives and 1 negative.
Rut Posted 6 November, 2011 Posted 6 November, 2011 Quite a few Man City fans had a tough time getting to QPR as well: http://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=238742
hamster Posted 6 November, 2011 Posted 6 November, 2011 Sat on the M20 right now waiting for the e services to clear the carnage ahead reminds me that it must be better to be in the tailback than in the pile up.1 hour and counting. Tf for smartphones.
