Kingsland Red Posted 4 November, 2011 Share Posted 4 November, 2011 We keep being compared with Norwich. eg: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/9344890.Saints__remind_me_of_Norwich__says_Thorn/ I accept they got promoted twice, however, last season QPR set the pace all season. If we're going to do what others call "a Norwich," we are certainly doing it the hard way, being up there to be shot at , rather than the 'Norwich' way of sneaking into an automatic spot at the last minute. Kingsland Red Posted 4 November, 2011 Author Share Posted 4 November, 2011 Can Cortese boil an egg though? if he's Swiss then he would be limited to a fondue or a decent bar of chocolate, including toblerone. However, if he's Italian than we're way better than Delia / Norwich with a range of pastas, pizzas, anti pasta and decent ice creams and desserts all washed down with some fine wines, chez cortese. Hope this helps.
RobM Posted 4 November, 2011 Share Posted 4 November, 2011 Lazy comparison from those in the media who haven't followed us at all. You see it all the time, yet if they'd known our situation of the last 2 years and known the quality that's been here, and seen Adkins harness it, they wouldn't be shocked to see us top and wouldn't be comparing us to Norwich. Or qpr for that matter. Qpr were a short term team, spending big on players with experience to get them up, bit little interest in building a team or developing talent. Now they're everything I'd never want saints to become. A collection of overrated overpaid mercenaries who couldn't give a toss about he club. They look like another Pompey to me, albeit one spending less fraudulent money. Although I've never thought of it before reading your post, QPR and Pompey are actually extremely similar. Both horrible little clubs, managed at their most successful point by a horrible little man, both spending far too much on distinctly average players with famous names (yes you, Barton), with the same risk of it all going very wrong should their Sugar Daddy get bored. The only difference is I actually respect Fernandes far more, he isn't just a crook like those who owned (in more than one sense) Pompey.
Dalek2003 Posted 4 November, 2011 Share Posted 4 November, 2011 I live in Norwich and can confirm that Southampton is not like Norwich, although the football club has many similarities.
Mr saint Posted 4 November, 2011 Share Posted 4 November, 2011 I live in Norwich and can confirm that Southampton is not like Norwich, although the football club has many similarities. In that both clubs will finish 17th in their respective tables this season?
dockland Dave Posted 4 November, 2011 Share Posted 4 November, 2011 I am quite happy to be compared to Norwich. Numerous similarities, similar sized cities and similar sized clubs, both have young up and coming managers, we are attempting our second consecutive promotion like them, both attempt to play football the right way, both have a striker that has spent most of their careers in the lower tiers of the league but are now showing they can cut it at the top. if this time next year we are in the same position as Norwich are now, we will all be well chuffed

Nigel Adkins and Southampton have some kind of monopoly on football purity have they? Like it or not Norwich won League One, we didn't, and they have been promoted to the Prem which we haven't yet achieved. Really don't think comparisons to Norwich are that lazy, and for you to make that kind of comment you would have had to have seen Norwich City play just as much as you've seen Saints play in the last two years, otherwise maybe it's you that's lazy? The9 Posted 5 November, 2011 Share Posted 5 November, 2011 Bloody hell there are a lot of sensitive people on here. We are like Norwich in the sense that both teams were relegated from the Prem and Championship at the same time, promoted from League One and challenged for Championship promotion the following season. These are obvious and inoffensive parallels, I don't see why it should be an issue to compare us, and I'd be delighted if we mimick their Championship finish this season. SNSUN Posted 5 November, 2011 Share Posted 5 November, 2011 We are not like Norwich - they are supported by smelly, fat crapweaselly women. We are supported by sexy, hunky intelligent men. (If my missus reads this, I'm going to be in the dog house until kingdom come.)
