Guan 2.0 Posted 2 November, 2011 Share Posted 2 November, 2011 are you not just following the crowd as well, but just a smaller one ? You seem to lack the ability to think for yourself. Do you just copy the crowd with everything you do? Yes, they are the 'cool tools'.
humber Posted 2 November, 2011 Share Posted 2 November, 2011 ......of acceptable things to do at saints matches? Coming on here it gets very confusing to work out how a "proper" saints fan should act at a game. I think we need to know dress code DM boots half time snacking and drinking do and don'ts lots acceptable songs Your going to get your ****ing head kicked in chants/banter that are considered funny and therefore acceptable when to stand/sit stand on hind legs when is it acceptable to leave early/go and queue for a half time pint leave early wait on hilllane near away coaches I think it's important we get these things right or we might shame the club in front of "proper" fans at other clubs... ........it was much easier to be a fan in the 1970"s
Saint Nicholas Posted 2 November, 2011 Share Posted 2 November, 2011 As a 43 year old bloke, I did think it a bit ghey that a mass of likely aged men asked another man of a similar age to give them a wave.
Lets B Avenue Posted 3 November, 2011 Share Posted 3 November, 2011 Can somebody help me out. I am genuinely confused. Although this sounds like a ****take I'm genuinely interested in which of the following are considered "mongish", and which are not. On matchday I.... Go to the pub for midday and meet up with my mates, normally getting through 4 pints before heading to the ground. I will also have a burger. Once at the ground we sneak in a quick bottle of lager and put on a bet between the four of us. Arrive in my seat as the teams are coming out. Stand throughout the game because everybody does where I am. Sing my heart out for the entire game (although I'm more of a joiner inner than a song starter). I will sing the Cortese song, and Barmy Army, I will chant Steeeeve and generally try to enjoy myself as much as possible, especially if Saints are winning but often also if they aren't. Clap quite a lot. Shake my head at people who hurl abuse at the players. Occasionally try to make a tactical insight, but more out of enthusiasm than any real football knowledge, so will often be wrong. Sometimes I will shout "switch it" or "close him down" although again more out of enthusiasm than any real knowledge.. Not boo. Shout SHOOOOOOOOOOOT even when I don't particularly think the player should shoot. Shout at the linesman even when I think he's probably correct. At half-time I will occasionally buy a hot dog or a pie if I am hungry. If it's busy one of the four of us will go down on 43 mins to queue for the beers, usually apologising to those in our row. Go mental and hug my mates and total strangers if we score an important goal. Get frustrated if we're not doing well but try not to get too moany. Sing "Nigel give us a wave" only if we're winning comfortably. Notice that Jose Fonte's song is not rythmically true to the original, but sing it anyway because I don't think it matters. Sometimes shout "who?" when the opposition make a sub. Will enjoy shouting this more when it IS a player I've heard of. Generally never chant "easy", the exception being that I did for the first time ever when we scored the third goal against Middlesborough, because it was seriously easy. Cheer if Pompey lose. Get slightly excited if I see a player outside the ground after the game. Pop into the pub for one last pint if we've won. Immediately start looking forward to the next game. Only one pint afterwards, if we win? That has to be mongness personified.
Barry the Badger Posted 3 November, 2011 Share Posted 3 November, 2011 Only one pint afterwards, if we win? That has to be mongness personified. At last, something specific, thank you. So when we win I need to make sure I get completey ****ed? Should I drink spirits or stick only to lager? The issue I see with this is that if my behaviour at games after a few pints makes me "a mong", I can assure you that another ten pints probably won't make me act any cooler. If anything, what you're suggesting will probably just lead to more idiots like me ruining your evening as well as your afternoon. Confused.
