Ferguson Unhappy With Saints

I'm pleased for Ferguson junior that he is purer than the driven snow when it comes to his behaviour at matches and that his team are a bunch of angels and that the two tackles made by his player that got him sent of had no malice in them.

You're just a chip off the block Darren, totally unable to give any praise to any opponent that beats your team. It would be really refreshing for once if you were honest with yourself and admitted that we played your lot off the park and that the fact that your defensive record is so poor, reflects on your shortcomings as a manager. Your bad judgement in not realising how good Chaplow could be, also reflects badly on your abilities too.

Loser. Tosser.

He should be thanking his lucky stars that he had a man sent off, with all eleven on the pitch we wouldn't have got so complacent and the score would have been a lot worse.

Both Fergies are arrogant, ignorant tossers. Give me Poyet any day of the week over those two.

He can't have any complaints about that sending off, the challenge on Guly alone should have been a straight red and wasn't it the same player that had gone through the back of Lallana in the first couple of minutes of the game? The Referee and his linesmen were a joke, with some of their decisions bordering on incompetance and some looking like they were the result of a brown envelope! Ferguson should have no complaints, the ref did him proud.

Chap 2 rows in front of me had a lone rant "youre a crap manager Ferguson, just like yer f'ing Dad" Someone shouted "apart from the league titles" another shouts "and the league cups" followed by a "and FA cup and Champions Leagues"The bloke didnee say another word all match.

My favorite bit was when he awarded a free kick to Posh, Saints took it quickly so he raised both hands up to indicate 'play advantage'. Genius.

Radio seemed sure they were both bad tackles.

Rchap04 Richard chaplow

Get in, #putthatinyourpipe

Looks like Chaplow enjoyed it.

Ferguson is the manager in this country I probably hate the most and unlike your team, Darren, Saints don't run around without a clue how to defend. Class-A pr!ck.

Yes that bit of "referee-ing" was completely bizarre. Not only did he indicate that the free kick was Posh`s, he signalled "play-on" in the opposite direction that we were playing in!! Very strange!

Although i hate Ferguson with a passion after his antics last season, he is certainly right about our players getting their man (deservedly) sent off. When the second foul was committed, the ref didn't seem to be interested in giving the guy a second yellow. But when at least 3 of our players held their hands up and moaned, the ref realised that the tackle did merit a second yellow and promptly sent the guy off.

Now, it was a definite sending off. But i think our players definitely influenced the ref on this occasion. As for whether i think it's right or not, i have no opinion. Players do it in EVERY team in the country so why shouldn't ours? Sad, but the way football has gone now.

Spot on. And I would bet my mortgage that Posh players have done it since Fergie junior has been manager there as well. But, of course, it's different when they do it because it's warranted, obviously.

What have the Romans ever done for us eh?

Would love to have heard this!

Say what you like about Darren but I think the old man has form...!!! :)

I was quite surprised the ref produced the second yellow so early in the game, more often than not a challenge like Frecklington's second foul would get a final warning and then the player would spend the rest of the game pulling out of tackles so as not to get himself sent off. In that sense, he was a bit unfortunate, although I don't think there would be any argument about either of the bookings when taken in isolation.

Speaking of the ref, was it just me who noticed that in the first half, Schneiderlin was fouled in the centre circle, fell on the ball, the ref seemed to indicate a free-kick to Peterborough for handball, then let Schneiderlin take a quick free kick and then gave the "advantage" signal?

As I said in the post match thread lino in the first half put his flag up for offside against Guly and he was still at the bar on the Northam concourse.

You weren't alone. I thought the ref was pretty poor. He even managed to confuse the crowd at the start of the minutes silence by blowing his whistle.

Or maybe he was taking a few seconds to othink about it before sending the player off?

Both tackles were at least yellow cards so there can't be any complaints. Ferguson should be asking his player why he dived in with two feet when he had already been cautioned.

Yeah the ref totally ballsed that up; he forgot to blow his whistle to indicate the start of the minute's silence, then remembered about 15 seconds later.

This confused the entire stadium who had previously been silent, thus prompting a half-hearted 40-odd seconds of applause!

I thought he was generally quite poor, and the free-kick he gave us for the "foul" on Guly that led to our second goal wasn't a foul in a million years.

Also as posted above the Saints players were hardly "doing a Man U at Old Trafford" for the second yellow; about 3 players held their hands up as if to say "have a word" and that was it.

Not exactly demanding "justice" from the referee.

Ferguson is clearly somewhat bitter over the fact that the man who wasn't good enough to play for his Preston team that was destined for relegation to League 1 has now scored in 3 successive games against him.

TBF from where I was sitting in the Kingsland, it did look like a foul. Guly was going full pelt, and the defender gave him the merest of nudges but it was enough to off-balance Guly and send him sprawling. Be interesting to see the replays to see if my initial impression was correct.

Fair do's; from my view in the Chapel it looked like Guly just slid to ground having not quite got to the ball.

He didn't seem to appeal either, which generally says a lot!

IMO Guly was caught by the defender, but tried to stay up, and ran on a few paces, unbalanced, before falling. So the actual foul was maybe earlier than you realised.

Agreed, from my view in the Chapel at least. It looked like the defender would have done enough by using his upper body to hold Guly off but then looked like that wouldn't be enough so he kind of clipped him with his knee, hence the tumble. I thought it was a foul, but was still a little surprised the ref gave it as it's the type of decision that often doesn't get awarded to the attacking player.

Exactly that, but then he'd have to talk about how his team were two down and out already by that point & how poor his team was. Better to big up the sending-off to distract the press from the truth.

Refs do this a lot, but I guess its wrong to make that judgement based on previous decisions. As you say in isolation what could the ref do, players know that studs up and over the ball is a yellow and the second one was in a stupid part of the pitch to risk a tackle like that. Hammond got done the other week and you just have to swallow it.

I was on top of the second one and can't remember our players over influencing the ref. The ref in the main had a poor game, he couldn't even get the minutes silence right.

From the Saints 2 - 1 Posh thread...

In a change of tact, Darren Ferguson did his post-match interviews before Nigel.

Ferguson conducted himself well, but at one point made a comment along the lines of 'our players don't ***** and moan when it comes to yellow cards'. A journalist asked for clarification on this, to which he stubbornly replied 'I'm not talking about Southampton' and walked off.

Nigel then came out for his interviews - I get the impression that he wanted to avoid Fergie Junior at all costs - and he was in a generally good mood.

In fact, the journo to ask Ferguson about that was Alex Crook - author of the Mail article.

Perhaps Darren would care to comment on his father's team and the way that 6 United players surrounded Andy D'Urso in an attempt to inimidate him into reversing the penalty award to Middlesbrough back in 2000. What do you reckon, Darren? Are your Dad's team guilty of the same thing that you accuse us of? That incident caused ripples around the footballing world. I don't see much media coverage about us, apart from your bleating.

What I found funnier was Ferguson's claim that they conceded two sloppy goals. Funny that because Middlesborough conceded three sloppy goals on Saturday and I don't know how many other sides have been gifting us goals over the past 19 home matches. What have Saints done to deserve such generosity?
