Saint in Paradise Posted 2 November, 2011 Share Posted 2 November, 2011 A global gambling giant has announced controversial plans for a US$3.8 billion casino and resort complex in Miami that would be bigger than Las Vegas's six major casinos put together. If the Genting Group gets approval to develop the waterfront site it will easily be the world's largest casino. If it gets the green light, Resorts World Miami will include more than 930,000 square metres of multi-use development. More than 74,300 square metres of that would be in the casino that would contain a mind-boggling 8500 pokie machines. But there's a catch. A ban is currently in place in Miami that forbids pokie machines and other forms of gambling on any land not owned by Native American tribes. And Seminole Indian tribe, which has a monopoly with its seven current Florida casinos, is rumoured to have already spent US$140,000 in a bid to prevent the plans being approved. http://nz.totaltravel.yahoo.com/news-opinions/news/a/-/11254804/plans-for-worlds-biggest-casino-a-huge-gamble/ .
