trousers Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 We won't win every game between now and the end of the year. Fact. Probably.
Stepgar Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 We won't win every game between now and the end of the year. Fact. Probably. but by God we can dream cant we?
mcjwills Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 Whelk what will be will be. Don't set us up to other fans as arrogant tw*ts because statements like that play right into their hands.
Dellman Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 30 points out of 30? Anyone think we're getting a bit greedy? Then when it's 'only' 20 the wrist slitters will want us in doomed mode and be baying for blood and saying 'told you so' even if we're still in the top two
Window Cleaner Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 Yep, no tough games there........apart from Peterborough, Brighton, Blackpool, Pompey & Palace. And everyone else trying to knock us off our perch. I see Hull at home as the toughest of this month's games, don't think they've been beaten since the latter part of August. Don't think they had a great start but in September and October they've shot up the league.

At home Hull and palace have got to be likely contenders to dent our home record I would have thought. Hope we give Blackpool a stuffing I want sing "championship you're having a laugh" at hollowhead.
ant Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 If you offered me 20 points from that lot I'd snap your arm off for them. 2 point average per game is plenty, almost certainly title-winning form.
dubai_phil Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 If you offered me 20 points from that lot I'd snap your arm off for them. 2 point average per game is plenty, almost certainly title-winning form. 2 pts per game average is Dream World. That would mean our run of great form continues through to the year end? And THEN we get the chance to strengthen in the January Window? Actually that ain't Dream World, it is as my mate up the road EoA would say mode As others have said. Let us START our hopes for Year End by saying "It would be great to still be in the Play Off Positions at the end of December. We can build on that towards the run-in" Anything else.... Wow, we might even get to the stage where we could go a goal down in a game and have shhh you know who NOT come and explode on the match day thread

Saint-scooby Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 22 points max, that does include 3 very special ponts......mmmm Happy days
London Saint Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 We have 32 games left to the end of the season We already have 30 points and probably need another 56 points minimum to secure automatic promotion So 56 points from 32 games is definitely achievable - even if we only win half of those games that would give us another 48 points and so we would only need to draw half of the other remaining 16 games, and so could still afford to lose 8 of those matches. Of course if we maintain our current form we will end up with 98 points and so will walk this league back to the Prem...
Saint_John Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 For me it will be 7w 2d 1l = 23pts. We need aim for 10-0-0 and build a gap because some of the away games in early 2012 are tricky (brum, whu, leeds etc)
corsacar saint Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 NA and the team will take one game at a time,no more no less. The way we are playing at the moment we need fear any team, however every game is a potential banana skin, starting with tonight,so there is no point looking too far ahead.
HK_Phoey Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 NA and the team will take one game at a time,no more no less. The way we are playing at the moment we need fear any team, however every game is a potential banana skin, starting with tonight,so there is no point looking too far ahead. Agree with this totally. Also over this time period some form teams will lose form and some will come into form. Worrying about trips to likes of whu, brum and Leeds now is pointless. In this league there is not much to chose between many of the top teams and they will have all taken points of each other by we get to play them again anyway. Focus on getting three points tonight and then worry about the next game and so.
Brussels Saint Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 Interestingly in today's Echo, Tony Mowbray is quoted thus: “Effective is probably the best word for them. “They know their strengths and they play to them and the support they have spurs them on. “They can pass and have mobility, but they’ve also got Rickie Lambert and his physicality caused us problems. “Against any team this year, Rickie Lambert on a diagonal against most teams is a threat. Think this is a fabulous quote and something that should give us great heart to keep this run going. The one concern I have would be an injury to Rickie. He does seem so important to the way we play (more so than Lallana) as we have no other player who does the same job. Lose Rickie and perhaps we will need to change our approach.
Frank's cousin Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 As Our Nige would say - one game at a time so right now I would settle for being on 33 points come 10 o'clock tonight, cant see West Ham dropping anything against Brizzle so need to ensure we keep that gap IMHO. Best not get arrogant about it - football always has a nasty way of biting you on the backside when you do.
Ian the Red Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 Tue 1 H Peterborough WIN Sat 5 A Coventry City WIn Sat 19 H Brighton WIN Sat 26 A Bristol City WIN Tue 29 H Hull City DRAW December Sat 3 A Doncaster WIN Sat 10 H Blackpool DRAW Sun 18 A Portsmouth WIN Mon 26 H Crystal Palace WIN Fri 30 H Bristol City WIN 8 wins and 2 draws so that'll be 56 points by the end of the game against Bristol.
Saintandy666 Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 There will be a loss in there somewhere, probably where we aren't expecting it. It's always the way.
oldsarum Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 How many to be safe from relegation? think we need another 20 points On the number of points before end of year, I think 50 points is a tough but realistic target 6 wins, 2 draws, 3 defeats, which will also confirm our safety from relegation
SNSUN Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 Looking at those fixtures, what I can deduce, is that we're really in for a tough second half to the season.
Lighthouse Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 Yep, no tough games there........apart from Peterborough, Brighton, Blackpool, Pompey & Palace. And everyone else trying to knock us off our perch. We should be beating Posh at home. Not saying we will, but we should. Same with Brighton, who have been gash for 7 or 8 games now. Blackpool are very inconsistent and I'd fancy us at home (lost 4-0 at Wham a couple of weeks back). We should really beat Palace at home too. All hypothetical of course. We will probably win 3-0 at Upton Park, then go and lose at home to Barnsley.
Saint Luke Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 Palace made 7 changes when we made 10 so Daino76 don't get ahead of yourself. If we continue to perform at home like we have been with Lallana on the pitch then we should be favourites to win all home games, but even favourites lose sometimes. 20 points would be a good return, anything over and I'll be happy. Anything close to 25 and I'll be ecstatic. Anything close to 30 and I'll pass out.
doddisalegend Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 (edited) You couldn't have been at the Palace game then. Our 1st team will tear Palace a brand new one. What the palace team that made seven changes? both sides made so many changes that night, that using the CC game as a barometer of our league meeting is totally pointless. Edited 1 November, 2011 by doddisalegend
whelk Posted 1 November, 2011 Author Posted 1 November, 2011 I wasn't being arrogant but I would say considering this division that is as easy a run on paper of 10 games that we could hope to get with all the tougher teams at home and only 4 away games, 3 of which include the current bottom 3 in the division.I know we wont win them all but bet bookies have us as favourites for nearly all of them

CB Fry Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 this, & this. i'd take 20 points. it would leave us in a great position. Too right - twenty points from the next ten games would be breathtaking and we'd be pretty much guaranteed to still be top of the league if we achieve it. You don't need to be a pessimist to know we'll lose at least two games between now and January, and christ, that's absolutely fine. Let's not start being a **** about things - we won't get, and we really don't even need thirty more points by year end.

To be honest, the defeats I just chucked at a couple of random teams. Someone, somewhere is going to trip us up. Our second favourite Nigel is a decent bet for killing off our home record though. And I notice I followed that up with two additional home non-wins. Let's call that our mid season wobble.
Dr Who? Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 We'll win all of them but lose at Fratton! I would take this...look at the bigger picture...would hate it. Just smash them at home!!
Dr Who? Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 Not scared of anyone at home, but we WILL draw or even lose at home, probably to Brighton this month!! But we have beaten West Ham and Boro at home, so Palace (who will drop away), Blackpool, and Hull City do not hold any fear for me. We will lose at home at some point though, and it will probably be against someone crap..... like our last home defeat Brentford!!
Dalek2003 Posted 1 November, 2011 Posted 1 November, 2011 I think we will get all our points by the end of December then sit back and relax and enjoy coming 17thth.
