.......... and From Wikipedia -

Born in North London, Ranger attended Alexandra Park School. He began his football career at Crystal Palace Football Academy and was at their development centre from a young age. He was with the Protec Football Development School for a few weeks before being scouted by Southampton. His career was almost over before it began, whilst playing for the club he was sentenced to 11 weeks in a Young Offender's Institute for his part in an armed street robbery in Muswell Hill committed before signing for the club.[3] He returned to Southampton after completing his sentence, but was eventually released as a player with a bad reputation.

Nicked again .... the boy certainly is bad news!!

One amongst many in football.Too much money, not enough intelligence as a rule.

Quite. Trouble is, if they have enough talent there will always be some club willing to pay such players a fortune, regardless of how big a **** they are. Viz Barton, King etc. Unless they do smething serious enough to go to prison, they are effectively above the law. No fine really matters when players' wages are so high.

I find it strange that we are willing to pour scorn upon our former players who've strayed from the straight and narrow but

our own black sheep receive nothing but support.Chauvinism I guess.

Well to be fair, lots of us, including me, were pretty damning of Wright-Phillips and Dyer.

If you're referring to Barnard and Seaborne, personally I'm reserving judgment till I know more about what happened.

I think they've both gotten off pretty lightly from the fans, do you not remember the treatment Beattie got for his DUI episode.

The vast majority (or so it seemed) wanted him gone from SFC within the hour.Fighting outside a bar AOK,DUI not so much.

There may be a certain amount of that but the other difference is that (as far as I'm aware and stand to be corrected) Wright-Phillips, Dyer, Barnard & Seabourne all had no previous and played for teams at various levels on a fairly regular basis - Nile Ranger is multiple offender who has barely made a subs bench since leaving the youth team.
