Saint Thomas Posted 31 October, 2011 Share Posted 31 October, 2011 On the other hand – and let’s be honest here - Southampton played more like a Premiership team than a Championship team, which maybe speaks volumes about our ability to cut it in the Prem right now, even IF we get promoted. I quite like that one - understand where he's coming from as well, watching Tottenham yesterday just seemed to be watching a more skilled version of us, same type of play for the most part, which isn't what I'd say for most our opponents so far. Not saying we are PL quality, just that we try and play the way most teams in the PL are doing this season. I usually hover round the opposition's forums before and after each game, but Peterborough don't seem to have many fans who post anything!

david in sweden Posted 1 November, 2011 Share Posted 1 November, 2011 (edited) I must admit, one of my post-match rituals is finding a complete match thread on the other team's forums. I'm pretty sure that Championship managers are learning to fear the mighty Saints FC, especially at Fort St Marys. The fans, especially our keyboard warrior counterparts, are something else. How long will it take before they realise that getting "accidentally hammered by Southampton" really isn't an accident? If we follow that logic i.e. (accidentally hammered), then a lot of teams have had an accident in the last year when they came to SMS. Accident? ....Coincidence ?.... Bad day at the office? Their otherwise " brilliant side " had an off-day... and Saints were lucky ". well there is luck in every match, but let's face it...we were too good for them on the day...and they aren't as " brill" as they think ! ....which is why we are where we are in the League, and everyone else ..is below us ! dubai_phil Posted 2 November, 2011 Share Posted 2 November, 2011 (edited) Phil will like this one. I think it was Gary Player who said: "Golf is a game of luck. The harder I practice the luckier I get". Ben Hogan http://kempton.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/golf-is-a-game-of-luck-the-more-i-practice-the-luckier-i-get/ But also most great golfers down the years have had it attributed to them.... "The harder I practice, the luckier I get." - Gary Player http://homepage.eircom.net/~odyssey/Quotes/Football/Sports.html Also on the Golf Theme - The Northam have taken up Golfing Chants. Says it all really. It started with the Yanks and BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Weekly Morphed this year into LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKE Donald And then taken up as SteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeVE by The Northam. That in itself should be enough to make them hang their heads in shame...... But very true comment with regard to Saints at the moment. This is what is making NA stand out IMHO attention to detail and mindset. Oh and D_P's favoured Golf Quote. Golf is an ancient Gaelic word for ARRRGGHHHBoll1x F\/ck Idiot Edited 2 November, 2011 by dubai_phil
anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 2 November, 2011 Share Posted 2 November, 2011 Their catchment area really isn't that big and nothing like ours. Remember that imaginary line that was mentioned a while back? Our catchment area is massive and goes all the way to London up to North Wales and includes all of the West Country, Wales, and large Cities like Cardiff and Bristol. Theirs includes mostly rural areas like the Yorkshire dales and cumbria. THey also compete with Leeds, Newcastle and Sunderland, historically bigger and more successful clubs. For a city of that size given the competition, they do very well for crowds. You what?
