Asaint4ever Posted 30 October, 2011 Share Posted 30 October, 2011 I like the northam stand and their noise. I also like the fact that I don't have to sit in there with them. you dont sit you stand
The Cat Posted 30 October, 2011 Share Posted 30 October, 2011 I had my ST in block 42 until 2005 when I gave up and moved. Even back then there were idiots who would wave their tickets. In fact we ended up arguing with the gimps behind us who accused us of not going to many games when we were there every week and went to most aways too. I'm not sure what they hope to achieve with all this ticket waving nonsense but they are probably too braindead to understand the consequences. um pahars Posted 30 October, 2011 Share Posted 30 October, 2011 Would it have been a bit like this?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jh3bX5wA63s&NR=1 Not seen that before, but if you were on The Archers Terrace, circa 1986, then you might have seen the Saints equivalent. An acquaintace of mine ended up on the wrong side of some Man City lads before the game and after telling us all about being chased around Burtons with a City fan wielding a golf club he then proceeded to point out about half a dozen of them who had the balls to come in our end!!!!! The launching of a cup of tea in the golf club fan's face then started off a few minutes of mayhem.
whelk Posted 30 October, 2011 Share Posted 30 October, 2011 do any boys go in the Northam Stand? seems like the singing geek boys that used to be in Milton - when all the real boys were in the Archers and far too cool to sing. part of me would love a decent crew to run at them and see them scatter. Good noise though just full of ***ts
1960saint Posted 30 October, 2011 Share Posted 30 October, 2011 "Portsmouth supporters. They went to the bar before the halftime whistle and returned late after 2nd half began and continued to be objectionable. My 26 year old son turned around and said to them that he could appreciate why they wanted to come to our stadium to watch some decent football" In a way they was supporting southampton fc by sitting in the home section , or Maybe a little bit too scared :scared:to go in the northam end. SuperMikey Posted 31 October, 2011 Share Posted 31 October, 2011 I thought the Boro fans were singing "Where were you when you were sh!t", hence the waving of the STs. What a bunch of f*cking morons. I used to stand in the Northam when we were in L1, but I much prefer being in Block 38/39 now. Better atmosphere, singing is louder and you get to watch all the old dears in the Kingsland South clapping along to the songs.
Mozz Posted 31 October, 2011 Share Posted 31 October, 2011 I'm also a block 42er and the whole waving of the season tickets is cringeworthy. The songs are pretty bad as well. Adam Lallane, he hates plastic fans? Actually I'd think he prefers playing in front of more people each week! At least on Saturday it only seemed to be one small group of people near the back (20-30 people maybe) and the various songs and such weren't really catching on with anyone else. Wes Tender Posted 31 October, 2011 Share Posted 31 October, 2011 I'm also a block 42er about two thirds of the way up and it didn't register that there was all this ST waving going on towards block 43. OK, there was a chant of "can we see you every week", which is fair enough when that block is only used when the crowd gets to a certain level, so the sentiment was that it would be good to see us selling enough tickets to realise that aim. Most of 42 is comprised of decent people, but I agree that there is an element of morons towards the back of the stand who occasionally come out with some cringeworthy chants, or annoy everybody by speeding up OWTS or the Ricky Lambert song to such an extent that they become totally unintelligible. But for people to move elsewhere, it is only going to exacerbate the problem. Who replaces the decent, older and more intelligent fans that move? It seems to be the spotty juvenile mates of the morons that replace them. It is important that we have a good noisy stand behind at least one of the goals, but increasingly the area making the noise and starting the chants, is the Kingsland/Northam corner. SuperMikey Posted 31 October, 2011 Share Posted 31 October, 2011 If I miss the shirt will you be wearing your bracelets? No, I had to take them off for work. I'll be wearing a black coat though, can't be too many people on Tuesday night wearing those surely?
Turkish Posted 31 October, 2011 Share Posted 31 October, 2011 If I miss the shirt will you be wearing your bracelets? I'm sure you'll be able to find him filling his face before, during and after the game at one of the kiosks.

Mozz Posted 31 October, 2011 Share Posted 31 October, 2011 I've got some of those as well. They even moan when he scores though. Their positive observations on his first goal: "I thought that was going to end up here with us" and "He couldn't miss from there could he". Charlie Wayman Posted 31 October, 2011 Share Posted 31 October, 2011 That's the sad thing, plenty aren't teenagers, but grown men in their 40s and 50s acting like bell ends. I cringe at the songs that lot at the back of block 42 come out with. They can be heard "effing" in every song all around the ground, kids and women don't need to hear fou-mouth chanting and singing all day. You don't hear so much of it away so what's wrong with these local youngsters, surely we don't have the lowest education standards in the country? It shows us in a really bad light on TV as it all comes out very clearly. With that lot of morons in the ground we'll never be seen as a respectable family club again whatever our football achievements. Even though it should be easy to identify the people involved, one doubts the club have the balls to deal with it.

rallyboy Posted 31 October, 2011 Share Posted 31 October, 2011 I have yet to visit a ground anywhere in the country where I haven't got at least one moron sat within five metres of me. The Northam is no different, most people are sound but there is an idiot behind me who slags off Kelvin even when he has just saved a penalty, there is a bloke to my left who pleads with players to hoof the ball up the pitch at every opportunity, despite the fact that we have played our way up approx 46 places in a year and a bit by NOT doing this. So for me, most people in the Northam are cool and are there for the atmosphere - no better nor worse than at any ground in the country. People who slag off their own fans at games - idiots. And no doubt you'll have an idiot within a few metres of you tomorrow night - but you'll also have plenty of sensible people who just support their club as best they can. If we can keep it down to maybe 100 bellends out of 25K I think we are doing alright.
1976_Child Posted 31 October, 2011 Share Posted 31 October, 2011 I remember one kid a few years ago was waving his ST at (what he considered were) plastics who had turned out for the Manure game a few season ago. He must have been all of 14 years young. A right dirty gob on him too. Then a few minutes later he was talking with his mate and couldn't remember the name of the ground we used to play at before moving to SMS. Everyone around him creased themselves in laughter! He got so embarrassed he didn't return after half-time!!

saintneilo84 Posted 1 November, 2011 Share Posted 1 November, 2011 Up till last year I was a season ticket holder for 6 years but been a saints fan since when my grand parents took me to the dell 20 years ago. The only reason I don't have one this year is i have had to re locate to bristol due to lack of work in Southampton. I am still as much as a fan now as i was when i had my ST but when i go back to the odd game and get these A**E holes waving there tickets at me saying plastic fans it drives me mad as they probably only got a ST this season as we are doing well again Grow up FFS we are all fans of 1 team and we should be supporting them not having a go at each other for not being able to make every game. COYR!!!!!

Gambol2K9 Posted 1 November, 2011 Share Posted 1 November, 2011 I love the fact there are ppl that would resort to violence if someone called them a 'plastic fan' It's hilarious - ppl waving their season tickets are nobs, anyone who'd lose their rag over it is an even bigger nob. deadpanmatt Posted 1 November, 2011 Share Posted 1 November, 2011 Will this get worse if (hopefully when) the good form continues/ we get promoted? I can't make every home game or else I'd probably get a season ticket. I don't see the difference if you see 46 or 1 game per season, when you're there you're on the same side as all the other Saints fans.
Pat from Poole Posted 1 November, 2011 Share Posted 1 November, 2011 I was near the back of Block 41 tonight. Have to admit to being bemused by about 50 kids in this area all being a bit obsessed with de Ridder. I wasn't completely sure whether they think he's useless and are giving it the "STTEEEEVVVEEEE" chant out of sheer irony, or whether they think he's a genius player.
