northam - love / hate

Yes I love the passion and support of the northam - and the unswerving support and atmosphere they provide.

Today, as they opened block 43, I thought it would be a change to take my nippers in there as a change to kingsland north or our preferred itchen 4 or 3/2/1 which stayed shut. When I say nippers they are 17 and 18 and I have been taking them since they were proper nippers. My first game game was 75, charlton at home. I've missed a handful of home games since then, and done many away days. In my younger days away from home I stood my ground and got a couple of right kickings.

To stand in my own ground and have a bunch of my own - fellow saints - wave season tickets at me and call me a plastic fan. That hurt. That hurt more than any ****ings I ever took back in the day.

I had a word with a couple of the lads - bit of banter they said. ******** - it was we are bigger, better fans than you.

So would they prefer empty seats, away fans, or their own?

Maybe some are occasional. Maybe some are at their first game ( hope you enjoyed it, please come again). So what. But you know it ****ed of my lads to whom I apologised for making a fuss. They have been home and away since as long as they can remember. They didnt understand. Why are saints fans slagging us off Dad??

Sorry, but to those that slagged us off - grow up, get real and grow some balls when someone calls you out over it. "WE, yes WE are Southampton"

Despite all that - brilliant performance. So proud to be a mush and have my lads their to enjoy it with me.

I thank-you all for allowing me to get that off my chest.

I understood it when we were playing United in the cup and sold out (after getting 14k the week before), but now it is just f*cking retarded.

Thankfully it must have been a small number of people (?) as I didn't see it anywhere.

I would agree about United and the dark days, but now we are regularly getting 25,000+.

I used to have a season ticket in block 41 about 5 years ago and it was decent then, but it's gone down hill as the number of stupid teenagers have increased. On the one hand you hear about the spazzers who shout Pork and then there's the gobby ones who think they are the bestest fans in the world.

I totally, 100% agree with you mate. I'm a season ticket holder near the back of Block 42 and I constantly argue with these so called uber-fans being they're ignorant idiots. They do start a lot of songs in fairness, however every other song is a reference to Pompey, which does get a little tedious.

Please accept my apologies on behalf of Block 42.......we welcome you and your family back with open arms.

One song you could start, while waving your match ticket in the air is "I paid more money than you, I paid more money than you".....you get the gist!

My son whos had a ST since our Prem days and only didnt get one this season because of his uni commitments, was sat in block 43 and was called a plastic fan,yet the person who said it was leaving with ten minutes to go!!!

These super dupa fans need to grow up.

That's the sad thing, plenty aren't teenagers, but grown men in their 40s and 50s acting like bell ends. I cringe at the songs that lot at the back of block 42 come out with and their pathetic waving of season tickets and singing "plastic fans" songs.

Its great that the Northam and Kingsland corner are all stood and fair play to the stewards these days, they don't even try to make us sit. But loads that go in there either struggle to even sing OWTS properly, the most popular song seems to be "Red and White Barmy Army" or they don't sing at all. Rubbish.

My ST is in 42, and the atmosphere is always, without doubt, worse when Block 43 is home fans. Saying that, the waving of season tickets and all the other crap is pointless.

Yes because the idiots in 42 are more worried about waving their season tickets at block 43 than supporting the team.

Actually though i would say the Kingsland corner are the core song starters now not the Northam. At the forest game they were singing "our fans are f***ing s*it" to block 42 as they were so quiet..lol

The front two-thirds of block 42 hardly sing and a fair few stood up the back are utter mongs.

It's one of the reasons I'm happy at the Chapel.

What do these idiots want us to do, save our ticket stubs and bring them as proof of our support over the years. I've got underpants older than some of our "bestest fans".

Whether you go every week, or go when you can or when you can afford, or rarely go at all, you're still a Saints fan. My old man followed us in 3rd Division South, but rarely goes now as he's nearing his 80's,but he's still as passionate as the "yoof". They should grow up, or **** off.

As much as I hate to say it, this is the difference between us and the scum. When, on the rare occasions they got a gate bigger than us in the past, they waved it under our noses as proof of their (laughable) sleeping giant tag. On the reverse, as we appear to be coming out of the doldrums and get bigger attendances some of our lot act act like total village idiots by *****ing and moaning at our own numbers-total bunch of small town f**ktards. Get a life you coneheads!

Totally agree.

For me it's never been about whether you've got a season ticket, whether you manage to go regularly or not, or whether you even live in the City. If you support the Saints in whatever guise then you're a friend of mine.

Like you I have a father who will be making his annual pilgrimage on Tuesday to celebrate his 75th birthday as he struggles nowadays to go regularly (once again Posh, and he reminds me we thrashed them last season). Someone who introduced me to Saints 37 years ago and who went through thick and thin through the 50's - 90s. If anyone had the audacity to wave their season ticket at him then I would take pleasure in inserting it one of their orifaces.

Cringetastic behaviour.

Makes me f*cking livid. It's why I stand in block 39. 42 is full of gimps.

Sure, tar us all with that same brush... For what it's worth I had a proper go at the ****s waving their season tickets as they walked up the steps (ironically only just in time for them to see the start of the match - superfans indeed). We're not all like that in Block 42 by some margin!

Obviously these knobs haven't got the message from our leader Mr Adkins: TOGETHER AS ONE

But then obviously these dinlows can't process this message either spoken or written!

Cripes imagine if they made the Northam all Saints they would be all worn out from all that ST waving at 2 thirds of the stand...................... But then with that many newbies in the Northam they probably wouldn't have the minerals to be so pathetic.

Spot on. 39 or back of 38 for me. Never any hostility/plastic fans crap going on, but lots of passionate support (not that we're better supporters in 42-37 but we're louder, and I like shouting)

It is very sad, and the irony is I don't recognise many of the season ticket waving morons from away games. We all want to see big crowds and good atmosphere at st marys, I just don't get all the stupid singing about plastic fans, pathetic.

^^this^^

However, there are plenty of ****tards in the Northam, not gonna deny it. Not just in 42 either. Currently in HH block 42, will be moving next season due to retards around us. Some **** behind us in II regularly spits all over our backs, screaming at our players to do something other than what they're told to do. I'd love to hurt him

Sorry to hijack this thread but not grown up enough to start one of my own. What would you have done yesterday? Picture the scene. Kingsland Block 29. Me my husband and son sitting surrounded by quite a few elderly couples apart from empty seats directly behind us (actually very touching to see at least 3 couples who must have been in their 70s or 80s out enjoying the match together - hope we'll be like that!) Anyway I digress. Just after KO about 6 blokes come and sit behind us and start shouting BLUE ARMY (that was just a couple of times) and Come on Boro and general anti Saints chants. Just before half time, one said to another "sh!t, we're 3-0 down!". When I heard the half time score, it became clear they were Portsmouth supporters. They went to the bar before the halftime whistle and returned late after 2nd half began and continued to be objectionable. My 26 year old son turned around and said to them that he could appreciate why they wanted to come to our stadium to watch some decent football but if they chose to sit in the home supporters stand, then would they show a bit of respect and shut up or he'd get a steward to chuck 'em out. It was rather comical as one replied in a kinda sulky teenage way (they must have all been in their 30s/40s " I'm allowed to support who I want" to which my son said yes of course you are - but not here. Now shut up. Scary moment - but it worked. Would you have had them ejected? We didn't want to spoil the match for everyone around us and that would have been really unpleasant. I was really proud that my son dealt with it in such a mature way. Never thought I'd see the day!

I'm in block 42 row GG, I hate the waving of tickets and the songs a section sang at 43, confronted a couple of them saying that I dont remember them being stood there when we lost 4-1 at home to palace etc, they tried to laugh it off but soon realised the point.

I've never understood this saying. What is the negative implication of being painted with a black sticky substance using a shared brush?

I've had my seat in block 42 since 2002 and most people around me have been replaced by complete and utter lemons. From the gimps in the builder's hats to the ginger haired freak who stands behind me singing that god awful Cortese song. I deserve a reduction on my season ticket.

I'm in block 42 but have yet to see this (possibly because I sit 41 side)....If I did it would disgust me

surprised nothing haas been said to these embarasment so called fans (the ones waving the STs)

I have seen it in block 41 when we drew a bumper boxing day crowd versus Exeter. There was a group of gobby teens in either row ff,gg, or hh (can't rember exactly now) led by what can best be described as a chunk from the goonies look-a-like.

How utterly pathetic. Sitting in what is tantamount to a family stand giving it large must have made them feel really hard.

The northam has been sh*t for years now.

Had a ST in there for the first 5 years at SMS.

Was great at first. But then came the influx of complete and utter mongs like those mentioned in this thread.

Surprised a larger collection of the decent sorts in there haven't got together and piped up at these bellends and put them in their place.

I won't sit in the northam any more because of all these mongs, I don't go to many games, maybe 5-10 with 1 or 2 away games a season if I'm lucky because I'm skint, not because I don't support Southampton, I don't get why people think having a season ticket makes you a better fan? It's like saying the richer you are the better fan you are? Idiots.

The funny thing is not all of block 42 are season ticket holders. These people are idiots. As for the Pompey lot - fair play to your nipper, I wouldn't of done that I'd have thrown

my hot chocolate ( always burns my mouth ) in there faces and followed it up with a couple of hefty blows.
