Cracking game.

Now off to become a serial killer of American Corporate Lawyers until I find the one who delayed the paperwork that meant I couldn't fly home to watch this.

Rotated the squad, and the few lost and have HALF the number of points we have

We ARE the REAL deal says DM

WRONG

We are the BARCA deal Dave

Happy bunny.

WOOT!

Looked pretty good to me on a live stream for the second half. No real pressure and Boro lacked a cutting edge. Great 3rd goal, patient build up, but Boro defending woeful. The table looks good to me and hopefully another home game on Tuesday could well be even prettier come 9.35pm. We looked very balanced today - and I would say the starting 11 is the best we have. It works and plays together very well.

On second half performance alone I would give MOM to Chappers - he was fantastic.

Another great win, smashing 3rd place giving us 6 points on them now. This home record is just ridiculous, unbelievable.

That 3rd goal was amazing. How many passes was it? And then Rickie stayed so cool to just pass it to Connolly, brilliant goal.

Chaplow was awesome, hes like a new player these days, is absoloutely everywhere!

Well chuffed

Excellent result,Boro surprised me....they were awful, thought they'd be better than that.

From over here and just going on the live text off of the BBC, I would have to agree, I was expecting a much tighter game than that, however, a great result, just a pity that leicester could not get an equalizer at West Ham.

The commentator on that stream was an idiot!

Apparently Chaplow has been with us for 10 seasons, and he kept saying how 'Saints will do well to remember that they conceded 2 goals in injury time in this fixture last season'. That was years ago you prat!

No I watched the game...they really were devoid of any idea apart from hoofing.Very poor midfield, nothing wide.

Awful keeper as well, forgot that.

Amazed it was that easy. Really hope we play as well against Peterborough.

Still think Connolly is best on the bench, it's good to have a proper striker there. Guly excellent up front whenever I've seen him there. Lambert is too good for this league, much as he was too good for L1. There's some very, very average strikers in the top flight too. Almost feel a little bad for him, as if he was playing this season in the top flight, with the number of poor defences up there, he'd have a shot at the England squad.

Not sure about England, but he was absolutely superb today. Wish that volley had gone in!

Panda is a penis for the anti alpine comments without actually reading what he had written. Anyway absolutely unbelievable. I don't think anyone would have dreamed about this start. We are unreal.

Sorry! The phone rang in the middle of all this and I lost the thread. Anyway, Alpine really get's me down and that is saying something! Why does he expect us to win EVERY game? It just can't happen. Anyway, the ladies like a ****-head so I am happy to be one and always happy to provide the penis when required.

Thanks "Window", with them having lost to Forest a couple of weeks ago, could it be that their league position is rather flattering, great to hear from you though, and that we obviously totally outplayed them in many respects.

Just ignore it. He didn't say anything wrong this week so lets just enjoy the win.

Excellent. After watching that - us making a good (top 3) team look poor, I'm going to offer a long distance opinion about our away form.

I honestly don't think we've yet realized how good we are. In away matches we set out to deny the opponents space instead of doing what we do at home - concentrate on making our own space. It was very clear at Reading, and it enabled them not just to stay with us but cause us real problems.

We have so many attacking permutations that it makes you head spin, and I'd like to see us start using them more in away games.

Still, three at home and one away will win most leagues.

Excellent display by a cohesive Saints team. Middlesboro looked (or were made to look) very poor with Emnes and McDonald having nothing to work with and proving unable to create anything on their own... Special mention goes to Chaplow - if only we could clone him and throw in a handful of bald maniacs. His workrate is just unbelievable...

I don't know whether it's about realising whether we're good or not. Today we had a new look system on display, aided by the return of Lallana.

Some of us were discussing this yesterday, moving Guly into the hole (or just plain up front) and giving his wide role to Chaplow.

Few thought NA would go that way today but he did and it turned up trumps, mind you Rickie had a great game and Boro were pretty crap.

WOW - loved watching that. We didnt buckle after their spell of pressure too which was great to see. Just had a quick look at Boro forums...they are pretty depressed at how easy we made the game.

They've every reason to be depressed, they won't get out of the NPC with that side or that system of play.I thought Derby were

far,far better than Boro were today. If Boro make the play-offs this season they'll have done well, there's no engine room in that team.

I believe the technical term we use around these parts is 'we tore them a new one.'

I'd say that third goal was the best goal I've ever seen live... the way we ole'd every pass leading up to it... and the way the finish was made to look so EASY...

Very very happy Saints fan right here.

Nonsense, IMO. Boro were far better than Derby.

Prompted by other posts, I've just had a glance at a 'boro forum. All the posts seem to be about how poorly they played. Gotta face the facts, it had nothing to do with them being poor. They were simply played off the park today by a dominant opposition. Saints won this game, it was not gifted to them by 'boro.

Couldn't be happier right now, and very pleased I got to watch the entire game on a good quality stream as well.

I thought Boro were very average and their league position is a little flattering to be honest. Tony Mowbray will be furious with his defence for letting Lambert walk right through them in the build up to the 3rd goal, but we should have been out of sight long before then really.

2nd half we did seem to let them have a lot more possession in midfield and a lot of 50/50 balls just didn't go our way, but the entire team defended with composure and we deserved a clean sheet really, as Boro's only shots on target were pretty weak efforts in the end.

So we come to the end of what we all assumed would be a very tricky October with 3 wins and 2 draws, which is better than most were predicting at the start of the month and probably about as good as we could possibly have even hoped for. Now we move on to November with five very winnable games - home to Peterborough, Brighton and Hull, and two away games against teams currently struggling in the relegation zone: Coventry and Bristol City. The way things seem to be going for us right now, I wouldn't bet against 5 wins from that.

I agree but Saints must guard against complacency.

Just hobbled in and after being poor at Reading I was a bit concerned about how we would bounce back but shouldn't have worried as we were sensational today!!!!!

I don't think Boro are that bad a side (their record suggests they're half decent), but we absolutely ripped them apart. 5-0 would have flattered them today, as we were sooooo good. They couldn't compete in the middle fo the park and it seemed as though we could score every time we went forward. The first half hour they were chasing shadows as Lallana, Chaplow, Guly, Lambert, Cork and Hammond were just bypassing them.

As for the goals, well they were all pretty decent, but the last one came off the back of 5 minutes of posession, two touch football, 30+ passes and some skilful play by almost the whole team. If they don't show the whole build up on the highlights then it will be a travesty.

I'll consider my marks for another thread, but they'll be plenty of 9's!!!!! (only downside is think Connolly was off the pace again).

I've been thinking that all season since our spectacular start.

Today was a potential banana skin and a lot of the talk on this forum has been that that this could be the game where we lose our amazing home record, but the focus and the composure from the team today was admirable, and Adkins clearly knows how to keep the players' feet on the ground.
