I'm writing an article for FourFourTwo about surprise Football League packages.

At the moment I've got Crystal Palace in 03/04 and Watford 05/06. Can anyone think of any good ones to mention?

I'm thinking Cambridge United would be a good shout after their spell with John Beck in charge, maybe Derby County in 06/07.

Blackpool in 09/10 surely.

Tipped for relegation, got promoted.

Bournemouth in their League 2 season a couple of years ago. Went from nearly dropping out of the football league to getting promoted, with a transfer embargo in place the whole time.

All good'uns, Blackpool are definitely in there.

I remember Crewe stayed up against all the odds the day before we went down (I think), I might give that a mention.

I'm thinking of doing top fives, top five play-off surprises, top five relegation surprises etc etc.

Hazy memory but what about Chesterfield getting promoted in the league and making the semis of the FA cup...almost beating Boro too, think they had a bad decision go against them which cost them a place in the final?

What about the old Wimbledon from Plough Lane; obscurity to the top league in no time. Crawley Town?

Hereford United into the old Division 2 under Terry Paine's onfield influence. 1975/6.

Northampton Town in the 1960's I believe went from Divisio 4 to 1 in consecutive seasons, although soon dropped back again. I think Swansea may have emulated them in the 70's in the first part of that achievement.

Ottery seems to support my recollection from his post above. Good fellow that he is.

Hull City climbing from League 2 to 6th in the Premiership in a fairly short space of time... and Bradford City heading in the opposite direction at a similar rate of knots!
