Saint_clark Posted 27 October, 2011 Share Posted 27 October, 2011 I did enjoy the end bit. Cundy: "I can't believe a Saints fan is on here moaning about things right now!" Thick-Mick: Yeah but, roight, it's all very well when things are going alroight. But what about me having to pay for car parking now, eh? What about that? Cundy: *click*. Ok, up next we have Dave from Coventry..... Seriously...? Jesus wept.

NickG Posted 27 October, 2011 Share Posted 27 October, 2011 On the topic of fans having it better now then ever 'Mike' who is apparently involved with SISA rang in to complain that things are not so rosy here. The main bones of contention: 1) No fans forums in the last 2 years 2) Complaining about season ticket rising 40% over the summer (and then he contradicted himself by saying 10%) and 3) the now resolved photograph situation. Jason Cundy was however astonished that a Saints fan would be complaining..... Does Mike use the forum by any chance? sometimes a good debate is needed sometimes "what a *****" is all that is needed! jam Posted 27 October, 2011 Share Posted 27 October, 2011 I guess Cortese decided against the fans forum after the one he had when he first came. Invited the audience to ask anything about the new owners, the plans, the direction of the club, the ambition etc etc. And some ***t pipes up complaining about the beer. We had just come out of adminsitration, many of us weren't sure we'd have a club left to follow and second bloke on the microphone comes out with that. From memory Cortese said something like "It won't be top of my agenda" Guess who the prat was that asked that question above any others, when he had an audience with the man who facilitated saving us..... Gone on three guesses.....I'm sure you will only need one Are you being deliberately naughty? If memory serves it was Mike O'C that asked about the beer... These guys are so out of touch with the fan base it's untrue and pretty embarrassing when they flaunt themselves on national radio. 100% correct..........These guys should be told to stop masquerading as 'Southampton Football Club' organisations when intimating they represent 'Southampton Football Club' supporters when, in fact they do not represent a significant number. They probably represent less than a dozen these days. CB Fry Posted 28 October, 2011 Share Posted 28 October, 2011 what you on about you d`ont even know him. No one needs to "know him" to know that SISA is a fiction in his mind and the mind of Citizen Chorley. They represent no-one, have no membership, no meeting or reporting structure, no nothing. Doesn't stop him spouting off to radio stations and newspapers using the Independent Supporters Association name to give himself cache. He's a liar and a self publicising gimp. You don't need to "know him" to know that. And if he doesn't want people that don't "know" him to not have an opinion on his actions and behaviour, may i recommend he stops spouting off to radio stations and newspapers pretending to represent a supporters body. If you aren't enjoying your football now, you may be beyond help! We might even find that grinding out a 1-1 draw against Everton/Villa/Whoever isn't quite as exciting as beating West Ham in the 2nd tier. So for your own sanity, enjoy what we are seeing, tis a golden era - take in the moment. There will be plenty to moan about in the future, don't run out of frowns yet, I'm sure you will need them at some point. trousers Posted 28 October, 2011 Share Posted 28 October, 2011 (edited) A transcript of the call below. Some of it cuts out for a split second towards the end, so apologies for any typos. Cundy: Let’s go and speak to Mike, a Saints fan in Southampton. Good afternoon Mike, welcome to Drive Time Mike: Good afternoon. Do you know I think this is a great topic you’ve brought up. I’m actually the chairman of the Southampton Independent Supporters Association. I’ve been there for over 6 years now and our organisation has been going since 1993. Now, as you know, our club was bought out a few years ago, we nearly went bust Cundy: And it’s been through the mill Mike, Southampton’s been through the mill. Mike: Oh Christ almighty, we’ve been through thin and thinner mate, you know, you know, it’s as simple as that. But what erm we’ve erm, unfortunately the chap who actually bought the club unfortunately passed away – Mr Liebherr – and we are the 5th richest club in the country, the family, Liebherr family is worth over 3 billion pounds. We have now got a chairman who’s taken over, he’s been in the chair over 3 years and the last 2 years he has not had a fan’s forum which we’ve always had which normally goes out live on radio. So we don’t even get an opportunity to ask questions, i.e. you’re talking about things going up like rail fares right, I know gas and electric is going up about 20%, my season ticket this season has gone up 40% from last season. The season before that we were in the 3rd tier of English football… Cundy: I know, and look where you are….you’re sat top of the Championship Mike. Of all the fans to come on about this subject, I didn’t expect a Southampton one. Mike: Say that again mate? Cundy: I didn’t think I’d hear a Southampton fan moaning when they are on top of the Championship! Mike: Well, the thing is, at the end of the day, it’s because we’re top of the table that it’s all like, it’s all happy-go-lucky. There’s still real issues. You know, like, the Chairman has disallowed photographers to come in to take photographs of the game when we’re in the 3rd tier of English football. (Call cuts out momentarily)…..Mr Chairman, thanks for rescuing our club, we’re appreciative, we love what you’ve done for us, but why why why are you charging fans to car park…..(call cuts out momentarily)….that have been supporting Saints for over 120 years, and why are you not answering questions, i.e. why have you put, erm with the financial climate, why have you if we’re in the 3rd tier of English football, why have you put my season ticket up by over 10%? Cundy: Clearly fans aren’t happy with ticket prices but I’m not talking about that.... Leeds recently moved the away fans at Elland Road from a corner to the side stand for no other reason than they can charge more for the tickets, £36 for Leeds away this year, £19 for kids!! you've got to be f8cking joking so that is one i'll be giving a miss to. dune Posted 28 October, 2011 Share Posted 28 October, 2011 And it's not just the ticket price, it's the booking fee's/matchday premiums/non delivery of pompey coach passes (despite charging a booking fee)/charging people to park while visiting the club shop. It would not surprise me if the bubble game wasn't pushed for by the club purely to force fans to pay 12 quid each to use a coach.
