I did enjoy the end bit.

Cundy: "I can't believe a Saints fan is on here moaning about things right now!"

Thick-Mick: Yeah but, roight, it's all very well when things are going alroight. But what about me having to pay for car parking now, eh? What about that?

Cundy: *click*. Ok, up next we have Dave from Coventry.....

Seriously...? Jesus wept.

I am sure at least one of SISA posts on here (probably one of the ones that offers to "meet" me before one of the games) lol ! I would be really interested to know how big thier membership is and what thier mandate is.

Cmon lets be having an "open letter" from you.

On the topic of fans having it better now then ever 'Mike' who is apparently involved with SISA rang in to complain that things are not so rosy here.

The main bones of contention:

1) No fans forums in the last 2 years

2) Complaining about season ticket rising 40% over the summer (and then he contradicted himself by saying 10%) and

3) the now resolved photograph situation.

Jason Cundy was however astonished that a Saints fan would be complaining..... Does Mike use the forum by any chance?

sometimes a good debate is needed sometimes "what a *****" is all that is needed! (Mike not OP)

I guess Cortese decided against the fans forum after the one he had when he first came. Invited the audience to ask anything about the new owners, the plans, the direction of the club, the ambition etc etc.

And some ***t pipes up complaining about the beer. We had just come out of adminsitration, many of us weren't sure we'd have a club left to follow and second bloke on the microphone comes out with that. From memory Cortese said something like "It won't be top of my agenda"

Guess who the prat was that asked that question above any others, when he had an audience with the man who facilitated saving us.....

Gone on three guesses.....I'm sure you will only need one

Are you being deliberately naughty? If memory serves it was Mike O'C that asked about the beer...

They want to be the voice of the fans, along with Illinsgworth. These guys are so out of touch with the fan base it's untrue and pretty embarrassing when they flaunt themselves on national radio.

100% correct..........These guys should be told to stop masquerading as 'Southampton Football Club' organisations when intimating they represent 'Southampton Football Club' supporters when, in fact they do not represent a significant number. They probably represent less than a dozen these days. These guys are self opinionated fraudsters.....What is even more annoying, the Echo in particular think that their opinions are news worthy and credible which leaves me with complete disrespect for that paper.......too......You might as well interview the Pope about Saints - he's just as relevant!

Lest we forget Um Pahars and Steve Grant were celebrity super fans not so long ago. Along with Nick I, MIke O'C and a couple of others regularly quoted as being the voice of the fans by the echo.

Some things in life are bad, they can REALLY make you mad.

Other things just make you swear and curse.....

Save that thought. You might have tapped on a rich vein of threads to fill in the next close season / international break. How about this for starters?

'Loan signings who were were bad, and REALLY mad you mad or just made you swear and curse'...

what you on about you d`ont even know him.

No one needs to "know him" to know that SISA is a fiction in his mind and the mind of Citizen Chorley. They represent no-one, have no membership, no meeting or reporting structure, no nothing. Doesn't stop him spouting off to radio stations and newspapers using the Independent Supporters Association name to give himself cache.

He's a liar and a self publicising gimp. You don't need to "know him" to know that. And if he doesn't want people that don't "know" him to not have an opinion on his actions and behaviour, may i recommend he stops spouting off to radio stations and newspapers pretending to represent a supporters body.

Question for the Judean Peoples Front

So apart from saving us from administration by persuading a billionaire to buy our club,

backing his managers financially,

keeping Adam Lallana even while we were in the 3rd division,

giving Nigel Adkins the manager's job when most supporters were saying Nigel Who?,

being a key figure in full houses again,

being Chairman through 1 promotion and top of the league at the moment in this campaign,

the club record home winning streak,

what has Nicola Cortese ever done for this football club?

I think he sits/stands at the back of block 4. I went to a meeting of interested parties during the administration, I couldn't believe the ranting nonsense from the four SISA idiots. All noise, no sense.

To be fair derry I was at that meeting too and many others and to be fair to chroley he did make sense on more than a few ocassions. He had lowe summed up from the off and was proven to be completely right.

- Squeezed £12m - £15m out of Arsenal for a 17 year old who had only played half a season in the third tier of English football

- Annoyed the sports editor of a Rupert Murdoch newspaper

- Oversaw the winning of the first silver wear the club had won since 1976

- Introduced sensible pricing policies on tickets, car parking etc to ensure the club can be self sustaining financially

bit of bombshell news for the minority, so brace yourselves.....

Life may not always be this good....

If you aren't enjoying your football now, you may be beyond help!

We might even find that grinding out a 1-1 draw against Everton/Villa/Whoever isn't quite as exciting as beating West Ham in the 2nd tier.

So for your own sanity, enjoy what we are seeing, tis a golden era - take in the moment.

There will be plenty to moan about in the future, don't run out of frowns yet, I'm sure you will need them at some point.

And as for people ringing radio stations to copmplain about our lot - isn't that a bit insulting to teams who are really struggling?

I bet our former top flight buddy Luton Town feels really sorry for us.

I once managed to get through to 606 on the way back from Blackburn the year we got relegated and we got beat 3-0. I was pretty leathered, and by all accounts I sounded like Rowley Birkin QC from the Fast Show. Probably made more sense than Mike though.

F'cking yellow and blue balloons, fat lot of good they did us.

I once went to a 'meeting' with 'SISA' as part of another fans' group. As you would expect from two groups who have the best intentions of all Saints fans at heart, they were very welcoming, it was friendly and non-confrontational, no one felt threatened at all and there were only positives to come from the meeting.

At least I think that's how it went, my memory is going a bit...

I heard that. Was cringeworthy. Nearly called in myself to say how good we have it now.

My thoughts EXACTLY. He was claiming to be a fans ambassador and was making a bad job of complaining. As the talksport presenters said, the stay at home t.v fans have it good, those of us who go to games dont (financially)

There is a 'listen again' function on the talksport website for anyone who wants to listen, but it's only got yesterday's show at the moment.

Just listened to the call (direct link to yesterday's programme here: http://www.talksport.co.uk/radio/listen-again/episode/54271 - click on the 16:30 - 17:00 time slot and it's towards the end of there.)

Two words: "Oh dear"

Fans certainly do not have it better now than ever, we are f*cking ripped off at every opportunity, paying extortionate prices for tickets, having games moved for inconvenient tv times, watching games in shlt souless new stadiums getting harrassed by jobsworths stewards while paying £30+ for the priviledge

so now we've moved up from L1 to CCC..and you expected the prices to GO DOWN ?

and...when we 're in the Prem. next season --everyone will get in for a £5-er..right ?

He predicted the Cup final, new stadium and top half Prem finishes? Fair play to him.

A transcript of the call below. Some of it cuts out for a split second towards the end, so apologies for any typos.

Cundy: Let’s go and speak to Mike, a Saints fan in Southampton. Good afternoon Mike, welcome to Drive Time

Mike: Good afternoon. Do you know I think this is a great topic you’ve brought up. I’m actually the chairman of the Southampton Independent Supporters Association. I’ve been there for over 6 years now and our organisation has been going since 1993. Now, as you know, our club was bought out a few years ago, we nearly went bust

Cundy: And it’s been through the mill Mike, Southampton’s been through the mill.

Mike: Oh Christ almighty, we’ve been through thin and thinner mate, you know, you know, it’s as simple as that. But what erm we’ve erm, unfortunately the chap who actually bought the club unfortunately passed away – Mr Liebherr – and we are the 5th richest club in the country, the family, Liebherr family is worth over 3 billion pounds. We have now got a chairman who’s taken over, he’s been in the chair over 3 years and the last 2 years he has not had a fan’s forum which we’ve always had which normally goes out live on radio. So we don’t even get an opportunity to ask questions, i.e. you’re talking about things going up like rail fares right, I know gas and electric is going up about 20%, my season ticket this season has gone up 40% from last season. The season before that we were in the 3rd tier of English football…

Cundy: I know, and look where you are….you’re sat top of the Championship Mike. Of all the fans to come on about this subject, I didn’t expect a Southampton one.

Mike: Say that again mate?

Cundy: I didn’t think I’d hear a Southampton fan moaning when they are on top of the Championship!

Mike: Well, the thing is, at the end of the day, it’s because we’re top of the table that it’s all like, it’s all happy-go-lucky. There’s still real issues. You know, like, the Chairman has disallowed photographers to come in to take photographs of the game when we’re in the 3rd tier of English football. (Call cuts out momentarily)…..Mr Chairman, thanks for rescuing our club, we’re appreciative, we love what you’ve done for us, but why why why are you charging fans to car park…..(call cuts out momentarily)….that have been supporting Saints for over 120 years, and why are you not answering questions, i.e. why have you put, erm with the financial climate, why have you if we’re in the 3rd tier of English football, why have you put my season ticket up by over 10%?

Cundy: Clearly fans aren’t happy with ticket prices but I’m not talking about that.... (cuts to ad break)

the radio discussion was based around "do fans have it better now than ever" not specifically saints, but football fans, and my comment is valid as such, have loads of mates who go regualrly, most of them London / home counties based fans of London clubs and the one thing we all have in common is disgust at the prices clubs get away with charging, we generally all still go as we love our football, but have all cut back, i see lads who used to do every spurs game home and away just getting season tickets now, fed up at being charged £55 to get to places like Fulham and West Ham, and QPR charging up to £65 this year, it's disgusting. Leeds recently moved the away fans at Elland Road from a corner to the side stand for no other reason than they can charge more for the tickets, £36 for Leeds away this year, £19 for kids!! you've got to be f8cking joking so that is one i'll be giving a miss to. So bear that in mind from your desk in Sweden, that decent lads who have grown up following their clubs are now missing games by being priced out, maybe today's football fans don't have it so good after all........

While you can shop around, still think train fares -not ticket prices- are the real elephant in the room.

i completely disagree with that, there are travel options that we use, Megatrain for a £1 each way, coaches, away games we do book up 12 weeks in advance, those who use the away forum will know myself and others i know are well ahead on that for deals, some Fulham i know get a car load together for some away games up north to share the cost, 5 in a car and split the petrol, the one thing everyone feels is a p*ss take is the ticket prices, clubs have taken the p*ss for years now, bumping up prices year in year out , Chelsea away for Arsenal tomorrow is going to be £65 for a ticket, how can fans "never had it so good" when being charged that???!!!

And it's not just the ticket price, it's the booking fee's/matchday premiums/non delivery of pompey coach passes (despite charging a booking fee)/charging people to park while visiting the club shop.

It would not surprise me if the bubble game wasn't pushed for by the club purely to force fans to pay 12 quid each to use a coach.

Whilst fans keep paying, clubs will keep charging. Still paying and then complaining about it afterwards is not going to make a blind bit of difference.

i know, and i miss a lot more games now than i used to, and as i say will boycott Leeds away, but fans who love their football are bound to feel resentful that they are missing out on going to see their team because of the cost.
