Colinjb Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 On the topic of fans having it better now then ever 'Mike' who is apparently involved with SISA rang in to complain that things are not so rosy here. The main bones of contention: 1) No fans forums in the last 2 years 2) Complaining about season ticket rising 40% over the summer (and then he contradicted himself by saying 10%) and 3) the now resolved photograph situation. Jason Cundy was however astonished that a Saints fan would be complaining..... Does Mike use the forum by any chance?
Quickfire Double Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 "We are Southampton: we're never happy!!"
Lets B Avenue Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 O'Callaghan, I would expect. Hasnt been in the Echo for at least a month and is starved of publicity.
JRM Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 Fans certainly do not have it better now than ever, we are f*cking ripped off at every opportunity, paying extortionate prices for tickets, having games moved for inconvenient tv times, watching games in shlt souless new stadiums getting harrassed by jobsworths stewards while paying £30+ for the priviledge
Smirking_Saint Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 Is there even a SISA any more ?? Makes me angry when people ring in with what is a defunct bunch of numpties just to add a little credance to someone that is having a random moan.
The Kraken Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 He was given extremely short shrift by the presenter, and came across as being very bitter and really quite thick. I don't think Mike has got too much going on up top, bless him.
beatlesaint Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 O'Callaghan, I would expect. Hasnt been in the Echo for at least a month and is starved of publicity. Very true......and it sounds like he is yet to get an invite to one of NC's dinners with the supporters who in a relaxed and smaller environment manage to ask questions that in a big open Forum they wouldnt get chance to because people like him, Illingsworth and McMillan taking over ! What a plank.
Viking Warrior Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 Does he still drive around in his jaguar with his personalised saints number plate. I watched the frozen earth lastnight I thought I spotted the remnants of SISA scattered on the frozen land of greenland
Appy Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 Of all the times to complain about being a saints fan.
Colinjb Posted 27 October, 2011 Author Posted 27 October, 2011 He was given extremely short shrift by the presenter, and came across as being very bitter and really quite thick.I don't think Mike has got too much going on up top, bless him. My thoughts entirely! Didn't want to be too forthright initially just incase he's a fellow SWF'er.He was all over the place... just seemed to want a rant about our PR policy rather then a constructive critique of whether fans have it good or bad.
The Cat Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 I guess SISA do still exist if they say they do. They can't claim to speak for anyone other than the 2 or 3 people who claim to run the 'organisation' though as they never speak to their members. As far as I'm aware anyone joining them years ago was granted lifetime membership so in theory they could claim to have thousands of members! Not sure if O'Callaghan still attends games. I haven't seen him at any for a while although that's not to say he isn't still coming along.
Golden Balls Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 I heard that. Was cringeworthy. Nearly called in myself to say how good we have it now.

I did find it humourously ironic that Dim-Mick rang in to complain about Cortese cancelling the fans forums and therefore not being open with teh fans, all the while hiding behind his SISA identity which is quite possibly the most introverted and closed-shop of a supporters association going.
derry Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 I think he sits/stands at the back of block 4. I went to a meeting of interested parties during the administration, I couldn't believe the ranting nonsense from the four SISA idiots. All noise, no sense.
CanadaSaint Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 I think he sits/stands at the back of block 4. I went to a meeting of interested parties during the administration, I couldn't believe the ranting nonsense from the four SISA idiots. All noise, no sense. Careful, Dave. You might get invited to a 'conversation'.
derry Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 Careful, Dave. You might get invited to a 'conversation'. Noisy monologues and interruptions are their modus operandi. They didn't like being told to shut up and not interrupt, they'd had their say. (including 50 mins speech from Chorley). Busted and history sums them up.
Window Cleaner Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 Is there even a SISA any more ?? Doubt it, I think Chorley threw an entire year's subscriptions at Rupert Lowe,no doubt about 40p in coppers. Mind you NC would have probably had them picked up...waste not, want not
swannymere Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 Same old SISA, always shooting themselves in the foot.
corky morris Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 Anyone who listens to Talksport has issues IMHO!!!
aintforever Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 I've been critical of Cortese over a few things but you have to be a complete knob to phone a radio station to moan in our situation.
Golden Balls Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 Anyone who listens to Talksport has issues IMHO!!! Why?
S-Clarke Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 They want airtime. They're the sort that want the debates, the fans forums, the fan-led protests. Without this they feel alone and empty, so they have to stir it in other ways. Fact.
Colinjb Posted 27 October, 2011 Author Posted 27 October, 2011 Anyone who listens to Talksport has issues IMHO!!! Rather Talksport then Radio 1, a commercial station or five live.
Crazy Diamond Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 This problem was summed up a fair few posts ago - Some Southampton fans are never happy. They actually want to complain about something, and have this dinosaur age idea that they need to be involved in the running of the club and complain about anything until they're recognised. Long story short, desperate for attention and to have a position of power and it's not going to happen. They should shut up, but they won't. Who. ****ing. Cares.
Junction 9 Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 I heard the whole phone call. He had no point to make whatsoever, it was a pathetic attempt at a bit of Cortese bashing. Seemed to think he was iin charge of a supporters orgainsation, wouldn't be surprised if he was the only member.

These guys are so out of touch with the fan base it's untrue and pretty embarrassing when they flaunt themselves on national radio.
Gemmel Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 I guess Cortese decided against the fans forum after the one he had when he first came. Invited the audience to ask anything about the new owners, the plans, the direction of the club, the ambition etc etc. And some ***t pipes up complaining about the beer. We had just come out of adminsitration, many of us weren't sure we'd have a club left to follow and second bloke on the microphone comes out with that. From memory Cortese said something like "It won't be top of my agenda" Guess who the prat was that asked that question above any others, when he had an audience with the man who facilitated saving us..... Gone on three guesses.....I'm sure you will only need one

JackFrost Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 If Mike is part of SISA that puts their membership number up to what? 4?
Colinjb Posted 27 October, 2011 Author Posted 27 October, 2011 well he still hasn't sorted it out, the beer is still tasteless Well, Dad is happy with the Saints Ale. And i'm a lager guzzler. Carls/ling is fine.
Wade Garrett Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 Unbelievable that Mike and the rest of the Peoples Front of Judea are still finding things to moan about. I heard his call and he didn't come across at all well. I couldn't give a toss about Cortese having a fans forum. He has one every other Saturday afternoon, St Marys at 3pm. Fans f*cking forum, so the Judean Peoples Front can moan about the meat pies, f*ck off.
Junction 9 Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 Did anyone also hear the ex SAS fella on H and J who was a Saints fan?
Colinjb Posted 27 October, 2011 Author Posted 27 October, 2011 Did anyone also hear the ex SAS fella on H and J who was a Saints fan? Yeah, seemed sound enough. Unbelievable that Mike and the rest of the Peoples Front of Judea are still finding things to moan about. I heard his call and he didn't come across at all well. The way that Cundy said respectfully at the start, "We have the chairman of the Saints Independant Supporters Association on the phone....." to the contrasting unbelieving destain he showed towards him by the end told the whole story.
aintforever Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 Very true......and it sounds like he is yet to get an invite to one of NC's dinners with the supporters who in a relaxed and smaller environment manage to ask questions that in a big open Forum they wouldnt get chance to because people like him, Illingsworth and McMillan taking over ! What a plank. I disagree, I still think there should be a fans forum. The dinners are a nice idea but it shouldn't just be a select few who get to ask questions. Sure, you get some idiots asking dumb questions but people should be able to ask what they like.
The Kraken Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 The way that Cundy said respectfully at the start, "We have the chairman of the Saints Independant Supporters Association on the phone....." to the contrasting unbelieving destain he showed towards him by the end told the whole story. I did enjoy the end bit. Cundy: "I can't believe a Saints fan is on here moaning about things right now!" Thick-Mick: Yeah but, roight, it's all very well when things are going alroight. But what about me having to pay for car parking now, eh? What about that? Cundy: *click*. Ok, up next we have Dave from Coventry.....
dubai_phil Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 SISA are still going GREAT How do I sign up? I want to wear Oxford Baggies with 3 buttons to football again I want to wear a bay City Rollers Tartan Scraf on my wrist again. It has been AGES since somebody p1ssed down the back of my leg during a game. Oh and finally a reason to get myself a decent close crop Where do I sign? (Will be back in a minute, gonna download Slade's Greatest Hits)
miserableoldgit Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 Tried to "Google" SISA and Saints Independent Supporters Association and guess what I found. Nothing.
The Kraken Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 Tried to "Google" SISA and Saints Independent Supporters Association and guess what I found. Nothing. The Echo have a lot to answer for in repeatedly using them for interviews etc whilst desperately avoiding highlighting just how few fans they represent. Lazy journalism to use a "supporters association" to try and add gravitas to an article. Considering how long SISA have been around, and the sheer amount of times the Echo use them for quotes, there has NEVER been an article written about them, what they do, who they are and who they represent.
shurlock Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 Problem is because Talk Sport inhabits its parochial premiership/London bubble, any tom, **** and harry can get away with brandishing dodgy, defunct credentials.
Colinjb Posted 27 October, 2011 Author Posted 27 October, 2011 Problem is because Talk Sport inhabits its parochial premiership/London bubble, any tom, **** and harry can get away with brandishing dodgy, defunct credentials. It was a phone in show. He just happened to have got through.
Thedelldays Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 how utter emabarrasing that someone phoned the show using the SISA title......what a sad bunch they are..no doubt on the uglies they are talking about this very seriously and about how our club is fooked etc

shurlock Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 It was a phone in show. He just happened to have got through. And am sure lots of people were phoning in to complain about the inaccuracy of FIFA 12's graphic representation of van der vaart or something. Point is he probably gets greater access -whether with journo or operators for phone-in shows- than he deserves by peddling his dodgy voice-of-the-fans credentials.
View From The Top Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 Well: http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/southampton/fb_mb.php?m=v&t=39364#13 I see Mad Matt Paul is off on his usual rants. Sad wannabe moron.
Dark Munster Posted 27 October, 2011 Posted 27 October, 2011 O'Callaghan? What a complete kn*b. You can call him a cock without having to use an asterisk.
