Cripes ,..... where the fudge did those 15 years go FFS.

 

I still remember desperately trying to get any sort of reception on The BBC World Service in Abu Dhabi ... and could hear Paddy Feeney saying and we go over to The Dell where ANOTHER goal has gone in ... and then without fail the reception would go mammary upwards, and apart from knowing that a shed load of goals had been scored it wasn't till I got down the pub and looked at the teletext on the hotel printer that i saw the score.

 

My team name for the Music Quiz in the pub that night was It's Grim Oop North - much to the annoyance of numerous plastic mancs in there!!

That was the day the team i played for were struggling for players, 4th in the league, got out the bare 11 and beat top of the table Brendon 4-0

 

That night I went to a fancy dress party and met a woman who i later married (a few years later, not later that night!)

The season before. I remember just a couple of weeks after that a disgruntled Manure fan from Torquay or somewhere wrote to a national newspaper complaining that he never seemed able to buy a ticket for Old Trafford but when he watched on TV he could see lots of empty seats. Someone else wrote in the next day and said that those fans were, in fact, there - it was just that they were wearing away shirts.
