SuperMikey Posted 25 October, 2011 Share Posted 25 October, 2011 I'm actually very disappointed. It was there for the taking at 0-0 when we had all the posession, but we let it slip. Never mind, back to the league!

Window Cleaner Posted 25 October, 2011 Share Posted 25 October, 2011 Black mark for the manager, as Dave says no cutting edge, if we wanted to lose we should have sent the U21s. Needed at least one of Guly,Barney or Rickie from the start, instead of a converted left back and a total waste of space.
Colinjb Posted 25 October, 2011 Share Posted 25 October, 2011 My reaction is that I would like us to sign Wilfred Zaha and Nathaniel Clyne. Oh, and that we should aim to bounce back v Boro.

Stepgar Posted 25 October, 2011 Share Posted 25 October, 2011 didn't sound like we deserved anything to be honest, so cant complain too much. I know that we played a very much changed team but we seem to be coming in for some hard games now with other teams closing us down very quickly and not allowing ius to get the space and time we need. Interesting next few games me think on if teams will adopt the "Reading" approach. Little bit concerned if I am honest. Just want us to do so well after what has been such a positive start. Onwards and upwards. Cmon Boro, lets see what you got.
SNSUN Posted 25 October, 2011 Share Posted 25 October, 2011 I forgot to do the predo. :-( Makes my ten points from the Reading game seem moot. Whatever the Palace fans were singing at us, I really don't care. This was a trial for the youngsters and fringe players. We're out of the biggest obstruction in our season. Good. Charlie Wayman Posted 25 October, 2011 Share Posted 25 October, 2011 Terrible. Reserves or no reserves we are effing hopeless away and sooner rather than later it's going to cost us dear. Middlesbrough is beginning to freak me out now, I'm not sure we have the confidence in the side at present to score enough goals to win it. If Lallana and Fonte are not available it could get very bad, with Barnard miles off match fitness and Connolly seemingly having lost the plot. david in sweden Posted 25 October, 2011 Share Posted 25 October, 2011 (edited) ......should have done better in the first half. CP text commentary said we were the best team in the first 45 ...? Forte ran through and beat everyone - except the keeper! and then were unlucky not to get a penalty when Reeves was brought down but the ref. ignored it. Sounds like their keeper (Price) took everything that came his way. I'm all for giving the 2nd XI types a game, but playing Forte up front with a youngster (out of position) was an unusual selection(?). At least we've seen most of the current alternatives in the squad, but I think the regulars can sleep soundly, but I feel a bit concerned that we have both Jaidi and Fonte out, and no real cover at the back..in the event of ....*¤/? Desperately worried about our ability to get up for away matches, and the fact that several players on the fringes didnt do more to sell themselves to the manager tonight. Are things getting too cosy down at SMS at the moment ??? That is testament to what Adkins has achieved here. Our away form is considered a worry ("desperate" is a bit excessive!) to some, but in reality it isn't that bad. We've just become so used to winning.. Special mention to away support - over 2,500 for midweek cup game and weakened side!

It's a tricky call. If we played our first team tonight, won it, draw Man City away in the quarters....then lost on Saturday and drew next Tuesday.........and dropped out of the top 2. then I know what I'd be prioritizing to be honest... doddisalegend Posted 25 October, 2011 Share Posted 25 October, 2011 Wasn't expecting much as soon as I heard we'd made 10 changes. For everyone saying they're worried about how we're playing after this game, this team was so far removed from our normal first team as to make any comparsions pretty pointless. For a team of fringe and development players I didn't think they played to bad if Forte could put his chances away might have been a different game. St Marco Posted 25 October, 2011 Share Posted 25 October, 2011 in reality it isn't that bad. We've just become so used to winning.. To be fair that isn't quite right. We have actually only won twice in seven games now. That is only 28% win ratio in the past 7 games. Away wise based on the last 5 games we are joint 22nd http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D1/aform.html Only 2 teams have worse away form then us right now (Pompey and Coventry). It is only a cup game and shouldn't be looked into to much but i think it is pretty safe to say our away form needs looking at.
M271 Posted 25 October, 2011 Share Posted 25 October, 2011 Its never nice to lose even if it means we 'can concentrate on the league' Starting line up made sense because of injuries, suspension and resting players who had played 3 games in a week. The mistake was not bringing on Lambert, Barny and Guly after 60 to 65 minutes while it was still 0-0, waiting until after 70 minutes is just a waste of talent.
