We'll get beat, and beat badly, if we play the kids. Crystal Palace are no pushovers, they're 3rd ffs.

And they're not gonna play their first team either.

Besides, one youth teamer playing doesn't mean we're "playing the kids".

Isn't Ward-Prowse the one we've been waiting for? I seem to remember people tipping him for big things. If so, excited! Adkins seems to have a policy of trying out a youngster in the cups where possible. Who next, Isgrove?

..tomorrow night against Palace.

I'm going so interested to see how he gets on.

(Source: Radio Solent) Thoughts?

at least we don't have to worry about losing 3 points and NA isn't going to let them take it easy either.

Everyone has to start somewhere, so why not ?

Remember those fans who said it was stupid to consider playing 16 year olds, like Walcott and Bale ...

Ward-Prowse has had rave reviews for Academy nearly every time I've read about him. He deserves a chance.

Any idea whether he's starting or coming on from the bench? I guess if Nige is talking about his debut he'll be starting...

Adkins confirms in the interview on Saints Player that Ward-Prowse will start, as will Reeves, Bialkowski, De Ridder and Martin.

Interviewer: "What sort of player is Ward-Prowse?"

Adkins: "He's a footballer"

Well, made me chuckle anyway....

Good News

Far rather the Youngsters get a full match day treatment and know they are going to start in a game llike this. The game IS still important after all, but not AS important as the league.

It means that in the middle of the winter on some horrid windy Tuesday night oop north when Injuries or suspensions could be a factor, at least the kids know what to expect and what is expected of them.

Build the experience and have them really up for the game as well.

Wise decision again from NA as usual.

Good will immediately stick £3-5m on his valuation.

And a £5k appearance fee into his bank account as (so I've been told by the best friend of an Academy player) that's what the nippers get if they play for the first team.

Alright I'm ashamed to admit I'm not up to speed on our youngsters what postion does Ward-prowse play? I imagine if he is any good Wenger will be on the phone after the match looking for his next bit of talent

Attacking midfielder I think, hope he doesn't get hacked out of existence, looks about 12..

Really pleased about this, the kid is the next big thing - he's absolute class. He's just needed his opportunity...and now he's hopefully going to take it with both hands.

He's very similar to Jack Wiltshire in the position he plays.

If hes starting centre mid, I guess it will be with Morgan?.

NA has already said Bart, Martin, JWP De Ridder and Reeves will start.. so guessing the rest of the the starting XI will be something like

BART

Butterfield? MARTIN Hoover? Harding?

DE RIDDER Schneiderlin? WARD-PROWSE Dickson?

REEVES

Forte

with Guly, Lambert, Richardson, Cork, Chaplow, Dean and Davis on bench

will certainly be interesting to see how we do

I'm not sure that Morgan is 100% fit, took a nasty knock against West Ham,don't think NA wanted to bring him on at all on Saturday.Wouldn't be surprised if we go JWP and Chaplow in centre mid tomorrow.

The old Claus song for James?

"Ward-Prowse!

In the middle of midfield!

Ward-Prowse!

In the middle of midfield!"

I was thinking of "Amazing Grace"...

Wa-ard Prowse, Wa-ar-ard Prowse, Ward Prowse, Ward Prowse

Wa-ard Prowse, Wa-ar-ard Prowse, Ward Prowse

Wa-ard Prowse, Wa-ar-ard Prowse, Ward Prowse, Ward Prowse

Wa-ard Prowse, Wa-ar-ard Prowse, Ward Prowse

Thought I saw (or heard) somewhere that Forte is injured as well.

I think "In the middle of the park" would suffice and fit better!

You won't win anything with kids etc etc.

Nigh-on 2,000 of us up there tomorrow night, I'm feeling confident: arsenal at home next round.

Contact of mine from the club rates him "as least as good as Bale" (at comparative ages). Looking forward to seeing him. Good game to blood him in, no real pressure.

Then we can play the development squad and Wenger can just pick out the ones he wants and take them home with him to save time:p

Is that Dixie? (that'll be lost on few youngsters) just wondered who Dean is, can't be Mr Hammond or is the next game but one ruling still in force.

Really looking forward to this. If NA is playing them then I'm pretty sure they are good enough!

In the context of us being top (I'll write that again TOP!) of the Champs and under fairly big pressure to go straight up this is a 'relatively' low-key game and a great opportunity to blood the yoof.

I for one am really looking fd to seeing the next generation; I always remember seeing Lallana come on for 15 mins away at WBA and you could see in those 15 mins that he absolutely had it, tomorrow night we will get to see a couple of our new top-boys playing mens football for a full 90 minutes.

Brilliant!

You stay in the pub or send your tkts back - 2000 of us will be there backing the team - Saints to win on pens after 2-2 at 90 mins and 3-3 at extra time, loving the league but you can't beat floodlit cup football!

I'm going to run a clock from his first touch in a professional game to the first transfer rumour linking him with a Premier League club. Sweepstake anyone?

Pretty sure he had his first touch in one of the earlier rounds.
