Palace build-up

Most of you have a lot of changes to make to your predicted line-ups.

Adkins confirms that...

Ward-Prose

Reeves

Martin

De Ridder

Bialkowski

...will all start.

I reckon Luke Shaw will be on the bench again as well.

i don't even know what Reeves and Ward-Prowse look like, let along where they play, looking forward to tomorrow and hopefully progressing in the cup, bit worried we'll be so under strength we'll go out even to a weakened Palace team

For support to Lambert we have SDR Guly & DC fighting for 2 places.

DC & Guly looked tired and off the pace Saturday, they NEED a rest. The Boro game is WAY more important than the Palace game

He also will not play 3 of his 4 main CM's - again Chaplow has been magnificent but it is about the rotation

So we have a defence that means Jos has to play (again) with Martin as we have no cover, but with the FB's of Harding & Butters.

But the burden on the forward players is the problem

Rotation means Cork & Morgan in CM Lallana just back from a knock most likely only on the bench so the question then is about Lee Holmes. Is HE fit?

IF he is then with Guly off the pace we are still short of a RM option Is Dickson back in the frame with Holmes on the left leaving SDR & Forte up front?

Nige has to pick the strongest team he can for a tough cup tie BUT he cannot risk losing at home to Boro on Saturday by having MORE players having "I'm tired" days, He said words to that effect after Saturday's game.

The biggest test will be whether SDR or DC starts. IF DC starts then we know SDR will play upfront on Saturday with RL

No reason the bench should not be RL, AL, Chappers, Fonte & some kids

The only way to play Guly is IF he can be rested Saturday the midfield actually looks short of options ATM

This talks lots of sense - the only thing I would add is Guly and DC need a week or two's rest as they are off the pace mentally at the moment too....They both will not be right for Boro in any case and should be dropped.

I know Jonno is quick but I wouldn't play im RM AND up front!! ;)

Oops, sorry about that. Copy-pasting someone else's team and then making changes. No, I won't be expecting Jonno to play in 2 places! Seems NA has said Ben Reeves will play, so I'll have to put him in.

Bart

Butterfield - Martin - Jos - Harding

Forte - Morgan - Ward-Prowse - Dickson

De Ridder - Reeves

Subs: Dovey, Richardson, Fonte, Chaplow, Lallana (if fit), Lambert, Guly Do Prado

I doubt that will happen, Davis has been on the bench in past games when Bialkowski plays. Plus Fox is cup tied.

****ting myself!..first away trip for 1st team tomorrow and have to sing #nervs

Can't imagine we'll be taking 3 'keepers, or that he's just there for the ride.

Don't necesarrily have a problem with it, but just a bit of a surprise that we're chucking even more youngsters in as we progress further in the competition, guess it shows how much of a toll the regular games are having on our first team and maybe the progress made by some of the young lads in the last couple of months.

Sometimes I do wonder where they get the money from, I earn quite a lot (well they give a fair wedge anyway) and I'm not at all sure that I could afford 200 euros or so to go to football every week.So how those on a half or a quarter of my pay manage amazes me.

Priorities and sacrifices I imagine. That's why loyalty should ALWAYS be rewarded for big games.

From my (big Fat) pension, I paid £30 for three tickets! Plus fuel £20. Eat using Nectar points in Pizza Hut. Two pints of Shandy and one Pepsi, Say £8. So, for £58 I get to enjoy one of my very rare away games with S and Gdson. Not bad for a night out for three!

ps, the part about the big fat pension, is bull****!

No not in your case, but those who travel every other week, take in every home game and seem to spend shedloads in pubs, hotels, programmes, pies and what have you must be either flush with money or push other things to the back of the queue.

Travel by train from London to the majority of home and away games and would say over the course of the season, it costs me between £2 and £2.5K. Has meant that its harder to turn jobs down (finding jobs is enough of a struggle right now) and have to think twice about spending money during the week and going on holidays. One silver lining is that the time spent traveling means its harder to pi $$ money up the wall on a saturday night.

For some people football s 'their life'. It is a choice. i know people who have hobbies like rock climbing or travelling or sailing, the hobby becomes their life. Fine if that's what people want.

I have a feeling the team will be

Bart

Butterfield Martin Jahidi harding

deridder ward prowse morgan holmes

Reeves Forte

NA obviously thinking of saturdays game which is fair enough I think Palace will go for it & play pretty much there 1st 11 I am not sure we will have a strong enough team for this game hope I am wrong but I would prefer 3 points saturday

Jaidi is recovering from an arthroscopy on his knee and I don't think Holmes is fit, didn't he have ankle problems again?

No as shurlock says i think we're scraping the barrel tonight,if NA wants to rest first teamers completely then our side

is going to be quite new look.

For anyone else travelling tonight, we'll have to be on top form if we want to out sing Palace. Their small group of 'ultras' have improved the atmosphere at Palace tenfold and don't usually stop singing at all during the 90 minutes. Let's hope our support is more like it was at Reading than Burnley or Cardiff tonight.

They can't have kids at least not young ones.......

I do, but then I'm at home with the little one all week and sort the older one out for school every day so it's not like I'm at work all week and then out all day Saturday too. As someone said above it just depends what you prioritise. I basically have a part time job so I can afford to go to most Saints games.

If people REALLY want to go they'll find a way.

Anyone had the time to look on Palace's site and see what sort of team they're likely to put out? I'd imagine they must be resting a fair few and can't imagine they have tons of strength in depth or a particularly big squad? Can't have too many players with the experience of Butterfield or Harding, or the quality of De Ridder?

In the last round against Boro they kept their central defence and strike pair the same as usual and changed virtually everything else. Side was still good enough to beat Boro though, think Palace have a fair old squad at their disposal,a lot of familiar names in there. If we really go for our youth they may well be too good for us.

You reckon they'll have decent support even tonight mate? Carling cup and all that? Not much of a crowd in for their last game in the comp against M'Boro.

They tend to still go and fill out their block whatever the game so it should be the same as any game for them really. I can't see there being much over 10k there tonight though.

too many weakened sides on a Tuesday night will certainly take a toll on the CC attendances, these games should be played on international weekends for sides that don't have many internationals in their line up.

Cheers. On that basis we may well struggle. Be good to see how the young lads cope with a real test.

Yep, a Palace supporting mate told me their not expecting many changes tonight, but might give 2 or 3 of Murray / Scannell / Ambrose / Zaha a rest. A few of their younger players (Williams, O Keefe) are actually better than a few of their more experienced players anyway, so could be a tough one. Hoping that Reeves and Ward-Prowse impress and looking forward to my first away match in a few years.

With De Ridder starting quite fancy him to score first, 10/1 with Totesport or Reeves first, 28/1 with Bet365

the only thing I'd bet on De Ridder about was to get the first yellow card. With a very inexperienced midfield in the offing for us

De Rifdder will have to do some defensive work, he doesn't know how as yet and will get booked as sure as can be.

I thought that Jaidi was injured as well but I am told by someone that should know that he has been training I was also told that Barny is on the bench we will see, but it is defo a 2nd string team I hope we can get a result as the next round would be very interesting

Is it right they've moved the away fans down to the other end this season?

Same side but down into the supermarket corner rather than up against the Holmesdale stand?

Heard this second hand via a Palace ST holder, bit of a shame if they have.

They had it moved last season too. We have been given the whole stand tonight though, so will be given the middle blocks I believe on the half way line.

Correct, we have the middle blocks but i wouldn't be surprised if people can move along into other blocks as they'll open more up for pay on the day people.

Last minute decision to go. I'm combining this with a family visit in SE London so am going by car. Anyone know if parking possible near ground?

There's quite a lot of street parking around the ground. Should be fine for getting away with a relatively low attendance.

Was that way during the Wigan game, they had about 12 away fans turn up though. Holmesdale were on form too, I was sat right in the middle of them!
