Benj Posted 23 October, 2011 Share Posted 23 October, 2011 Well they start on the wing does the fact they then cut inside mean we describe ourselves as playing with four CMs then? Inside Forwards would be a more accurate name We create most of our chances by the Inside Forwards getting out wide, drawing the full-back to them, then playing the ball to the striker to draw the centre-back out before cutting inside away from both defenders and getting free in the box with loads of space. We didn't do it once yesterday until De Ridder came on, then him and Chaplow were doing it loads and we started to get the chances. Lallana and Lambert are the real masters of playing like this, and we do miss him.

Crowds Posted 24 October, 2011 Share Posted 24 October, 2011 I'd rest Richardson and play butterfield, play Dickson over Harding. Doble and Forte up top!
miserableoldgit Posted 24 October, 2011 Share Posted 24 October, 2011 Another poor show away from home, 3 from 15 not very convincing at all Don`t we have 9 points from 7 away games? An average of more than a point a game away from home doesn`t seem too bad to me. That coupled with very good home form seems like relative success to me. Mowgli Posted 24 October, 2011 Share Posted 24 October, 2011 Who would have thought at the beginning of the season that a team without Harding, Barnard, Lallana, Jaidi and Oxo (and Fonte in the second half) would still be good enough to help keep us 3 points clear at the tope of the table. Who would have thought that Hammond, Guly and Lambert (and Adkin for that matter) would have 'stepped up a league' with such ease. Not our best performance by far but Reading were good and deserved all 3 points so I see that as a good day at the office frankly!
Mowgli Posted 24 October, 2011 Share Posted 24 October, 2011 Sorry - that should read Adkins!! I do know who our manager is really.
yorkiesaint Posted 24 October, 2011 Share Posted 24 October, 2011 Midfield was poor in this game, reading were in control for long periods. I lost count of how many corners they had. Then Hammond nearly cost us the game, with a foul that led to the reading goal and then getting a second yellow for a very foolish tackle. I wanted to see schneiderlin come on, as for long periods we really couldn't keep any possession at all. We looked like scoring whenever we go near their box though, which was positive. Davis 6 Richardson 6 Fonte 4 (Martin 6) Hooiveld 7 Fox 6 Cork 5 Guly 6 Hammond 4 Chaplow 6 Connelly 5 Lambert
