CFSFC Posted 21 October, 2011 Share Posted 21 October, 2011 Now I'd class myself in the top couple of % in saints knowledge. Been to 60 odd grounds, can tell you scorers in games in the 90's but who the hell is Alex Pearce?? Said he scored two goals one at preston and one v wolves at both games. Now we had some turd... Ifil, pekhart, bignall, the lad who killed someone. But no memory on this lad at all.
Saint_clark Posted 21 October, 2011 Share Posted 21 October, 2011 (edited) He was brilliant. Played on loan at the start of the 07/08 season - same time as Jack Cork. EDIT again; sorry, he was an emergency loan in october. http://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=46001 Edited 21 October, 2011 by Saint_clark
OVER THE HILL Posted 21 October, 2011 Share Posted 21 October, 2011 This was in the dark days of the Dutch Duo. Pearce was OK and I suppose all we could afford at the time.

Crazy Diamond Posted 21 October, 2011 Share Posted 21 October, 2011 Alan Bennett. Turned out alright in the end, remember an absolutely outstanding display at home to Cardiff. Now of Cheltenham Town. Remember Andrew Davies? On loan at lowly Bradford...
shurlock Posted 21 October, 2011 Share Posted 21 October, 2011 Mature for his age and good in the air, though not very quick. Remember the Preston goal well. All in all, decent enough for us but most players would have looked good alongside Lancashire....
Red And White Barmy Army Posted 21 October, 2011 Share Posted 21 October, 2011 Was an absolute rock for us. Spoke to a couple of Reading fans who were moaning at Coppell for letting him go on loan while their defence was falling apart iirc
Nexstar Posted 21 October, 2011 Share Posted 21 October, 2011 I remember Alex Pearce's second half header against Preston to make it 2-1. What a day

Minty Posted 21 October, 2011 Share Posted 21 October, 2011 Bizarrely there is a page still on the OS about Alex Pearce, although I suspect it's because of the platform that the OS's use so this is actually a page from the Readign site, but viewed through our site. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10280~37746,00.html
once_bitterne Posted 21 October, 2011 Share Posted 21 October, 2011 Alan Bennett. Turned out alright in the end, remember an absolutely outstanding display at home to Cardiff. And home to Hull (4-0) Him and Davies were unbeatable that day. If you had to say one of the teams playing that day would get promoted to the PL not many would have said Hull..... Saint_clark Posted 21 October, 2011 Share Posted 21 October, 2011 Wasn't 07/08. Think it was 08/09. Yeah, got my dates mixed up. I clump those few years in the Championship together and try to forget about them, mostly.
stkev7 Posted 21 October, 2011 Share Posted 21 October, 2011 I thought he was a bloody good player for us, shame when he had to go back. Speaking of that idiot Pekhart, he is playing for Nuremburg in the Bundesliga these days and doing half decent. Also, what happened to that Jordan Robertson? Is he still inside? Yep, that's the one -and if I remember, according to the Dutch Duo we were going into that game 'on a run', 'sky high with confidence'.

DanW Posted 21 October, 2011 Share Posted 21 October, 2011 The name Alex Pearce sounds like a hot-but-crazy chick in a terrible reality TV show. I guess I could have left "terrible" out of that sentence since it's implied.

SNSUN Posted 21 October, 2011 Share Posted 21 October, 2011 Do remember him getting absolutely analled by Kuqi at Palace - one of the worst individual and team performances i've seen in recent years. Was that the Monday night on Sky? Remember going to that, we got battered, Palace were poor back then as well, just goes to show how bad we were. I was there that night, getting well and truly baracked by my Palace supporting mate. It was freezing. Our best player on the night was Cork - the reason I was glad we signed him. Kuqi made us look stupid. Ray, my Palace mate, picked up on Lloyd James's performance at right back, saying he was quite good. Shows how much better our current position really is. I see Zoltan Liptak has joined Brighton on a trial...
Saint_Jonny Posted 21 October, 2011 Share Posted 21 October, 2011 These were the days, eh? (Actually, no. No they weren't. They were horrible, horrible dark days. Although this was a rare good one.) I celebrated goals and wins so much more fiercely back then, because they were rarer beasts - a win would leave me smiling for days and days. Now I just keep pinching myself, waiting to wake up from what must be a dream. Saints....winning more than losing? Never.
MINIBARCELONASAINT Posted 21 October, 2011 Share Posted 21 October, 2011 I just watched that Preston game and to think Davis is still with us after such terrible terrible days is a credit to him. I'm so thankful he didn't go to West Ham, it must've been hell playing behind such a shocking defence.

benjii Posted 21 October, 2011 Share Posted 21 October, 2011 Lol. Funny how some people think he was good. I think he was average at best. Mind you, he had to play with uber-defenders like James and Skacel.

Tartarus112 Posted 22 October, 2011 Share Posted 22 October, 2011 Funny seeing Gobern making his debut all that time ago against Preston Seemed to have a good game as well. Couple of hoof ball's from us though. McGoldrick's goal was pretty nice too. Ah the good old days.
