Saints to bid for Maynard: The Sun

Monk

Recommended Posts

Maynard can name his price and a team will pay it in the summer. It arguably makes more sense to sign him on a free, pay him £40,000pw and sell him for £4m in two years time (effectively getting a free player for two years) than to sign someone for £1m pay him £10,000pw and sell him for £1m (cost £1m).

Paying him £40k would cost us a further £30k a week on top because of top earner match clauses in other contracts. He's looked way off the mark for Bristol this year too - not showing any of the character or honesty Adkins would demand of his players.

To be honest I will be surprised if we do sign Maynard in Jan.

I think it more likely that we will go for JRod or Sharpe again.

Of the three,I think Rodriguez the most likely in view of the 'info' above from someone's contact at Burnley, and also the fact Sharpe will be recovering from a broken leg.

Isn't Sharp already back and playing though? Sure I saw him on the teamsheet the other day. Or are you off to break his legs for turning us down in the first place???

I think the 6-1 raping the week before may have influenced the decision as did Fernandes collecting French national team autographs in the first half!!

But Strachan bottled that game as well. With the way we were playing that season we were all looking forward to giving Arsenal something to worry about for the final. But Strachan decided to not bother trying to win and it back fired horribly. The cup final - once the game kicked off - was embarrassing for me and completely took away what should have been incredible feeling of pride after a great season.

Despite all of that - it is the style of football that Adkins plays and his ability to keep the team focused on winning that convinces me he is already a better manager than Strachan. He may still have to prove himself to some but for me he deserves my belief that he can bring unprecedented success to SFC.
