Oh jesus, just what has this utter drongo done to merit such a high profile role? He is a tactical numbnuts who couldn't generate winning football in a million years.

I was looking forward to the olympic football tournament but now it'll almost certainly end up as a dire repeat of the last u21 campaign.

To be fair if you read his autobiography you will find he knows quite alot about football and travelled around the world learning from coaches etc when he retired from playing. Didn't have the resources Man City they have now and is not helped in his current role by players not being made available by premier league clubs or being too tired!!!? like Wilshire. As a player for England i've always liked Pearce and wished some of todays plays showed the same passion he did playing for England.

Knowing a lot about football and coaching methods/tactics will give you an idea of what is required, but it requires the right application to work. As a player, yes, he was excellent for his country but as a coach he is everything that england should be looking to get away from. Sam Allardyce is also one of the most knowledgable and progressive managers in the country, but the football he delivers is absolute drivel.

Sam Allardyce is Graham Taylor with an ear piece. Would be Mike Bassett as England manger picking Benson and Hedges for the team.

BTW who would be your choice for the job?

Tactically yes, that's my point, the way he has embraced modern coaching and sports science methods to maximise the ability of his players has worked in his favour but just like Stuart Pearce he has the tactical nous of a water vole.

As for who I would prefer, good question. I personally think we are far too focused on needing people with 'club experience' in this country, managing a national side is so different to a club side that it should be considered it's own niche. I would want an ex-player (or close to retirement) to come in and manage the team. Someone with immediate reputation who can command the respect of the younger players who would just want to see them out there playing and able to express themselves, not oppress the nippers with tactical overkill.

So for me a David Beckham or Gary Neville type.

If we needed someone with more experience, Glenda.

God help us.

As he showed in the U21's he is tactically clueless. Left the flair players on the bench and played a long ball game similar to Big Sam. It was embarrassing watching us against Spain at times.

I don't understand the theory that because he stands on the touchline, screaming and shouting, that makes him a good manager. I could do that...

Dear Scotland,

If you don't want to release your players for the Olympic Games that's fine by us, just make sure Rangers and Celtic NEVER ask to join the Premier League EVER again.

Thanks

England

Dear Wales,

If you don't want to release your players for the Olympic Games that's fine by us, just take Swansea, Wrexham and Cardiff back to your own sh1*ty league.

Dear Marsdinho, what's England got to do with the British Olympic Team ?

Oh, and Wrexham are in the Conference, with Newport County. There is only currently one welsh Football League team, and one welsh Premier League team. For the record, this is the first time since the foundation of both of these Leagues (1888 and 1992 respectively) that there has only been ONE welsh member.

Regards,

Me.

In my opinion Pearce hasn't been given a high profile role as this isn't a high profile poistion. There is already talk that any player involved in Euro 2012 will not be allowed to play in the Olympics. So that leaves England B, and Wales and Scotland who are not interested.

If winning Olympic gold isn't the pinnacle of your sport then it shouldn't be included in the games. Waste of time and money.

Haha, quite a lot considering that 100% of its players will be from england.!!!

Scotland and Wales don't want to release their players for the GB team as they think they may lose their status as an independent footballing nation (despite reassurances from FIFA that this won't happen) yet they would be happy to milk the financial benefits of having their teams play in England.

Now do you understand?

If you are looking at an experienced manager then look no further than a Scottish manager seeing as Scots have been the most successful managers in the british game. Current one is Sir Alex Ferguson who would have been good, unlike Hoddle who has won nothing as a manager in the game.
