Colinjb Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 As usual, if a mod could do the honours for a poll. Options: Davis Richardson Fox Hooiveld Fonte Guly Schneiderlin Chaplow Hammond Connolly Lambert Cork De Ridder Harding
Colinjb Posted 18 October, 2011 Author Posted 18 October, 2011 from the radio...hooiveld I would have to agree.
Thedelldays Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 I would have to agree.he seems to be better than fonte at the mo
Colinjb Posted 18 October, 2011 Author Posted 18 October, 2011 he seems to be better than fonte at the mo Just pray that he is more of a Chaplow then a Saganowski.
TheSaint75 Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Hooiveld for me too.....immense at the back against some big lumps and played the ball out very well, both full backs done well too along with chappers WHU are rubbish, if I had to watch that so called football everyweek I would loose the will to live, long ball after long ball and they weren't even accurate. We should have had a few more really and what was the goal disallowed for ?
mcjwills Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 From someone at the game, without a doubt Chaplow Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
itchen_dan Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 100% Hooiveld. No question. Superb performance. Has really grown and improved massively in his time here
Thedelldays Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 on solent pretty much those on way home are saying chappers and good shouts for fox
Mattio Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Chappers for me, he was always looking for the ball and when he was on it he looked the money
tobes8 Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Chaplow for me. but hooiveld was immense at the back, Thought lambert ran his socks off. West ham played hoof ball, they only tried to get it on the deck when noble came on!
St Chalet Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Poll added. I don't intend to vote as I listened on the radio but it did sound like Hooiveld and Chaplow were very solid.
Ohio Saint Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 I don't normally vote on these polls as I have no merit as a listener..........But this time I have to. I went for Jos too based on radio evidence. Sorry, common sense just couldn't keep me from voting this time.
SNSUN Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Waiting for the traffic to disperse before setting off for home. Chaplow was immense, created and made space, great engine. Honourable mention to Jos, Guly and Fox. On a better day, Connolly could've had a hattrick.
Saint Craig Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Chaplow was absolutely everywhere tonight. He wasn't perfect but worked his socks odd with tackles and passing throughout his time on the pitch so I wouldn't blame anyone for giving it to him. I personally however have to give it to Hooiveld. Switched on to everything for the full 90. Passed it out well and was confident with everything that came his way. He's come on leaps and bounds. Great winner too. Lovely.
Saint_Donovan Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Guly, Chaplow and fox were all outstanding
saint_jas Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Went with Chaplow, but Hooiveld a very close 2nd.
The Cat Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Could have been a number of players, everyone was excellent. I went for Fonte because despite his hilarious balls up when he missed the ball he was immense. Seemed to be clearing everything at the end.
Jack Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Hooivelt for me, absolutely immense. Carew barely had a sniff and he won 95% of his headers. Worthy mentions for: Fox - was brilliant on the ball and defended well Chappers - worked his ******** off, broke up play and looked like our only player willing to overlap on the counter
Saints4Prem Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Chaplow for me as well he worked his socks off and I thought he got the ball and was unlucky to get booked. Rickie worked very hard as well and Hooiveld was pretty solid. I thought West Ham would be tougher than that but we could of scored more which would have settled the nerves a bit. Great team performance and a well deserved win
saintscottofthenortham Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Voted Jos, not in any way for the goal but for his absolute stormer at the back. Chappers a close second, he was bloody everywhere!
Avenue Saint Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Jos was immense tonight! Chappers was excellent too.
Jonnyboy Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Was gonna vote Hooiveld but went for Kelvin as he made 3 or 4 awesome saves - without which we wouldnt have got the 3 points
Saintandy666 Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Davis, without his saves, we would have been ****ed! But no-one had a bad game to be honest. A couple of players had bad moments, but recovered(i.e Fonte's howler and Corks first few touches)
Colinjb Posted 18 October, 2011 Author Posted 18 October, 2011 Fascinating as always. Hooiveld sounded a class apart on the radio but Chaplow's hard work made an unheard but definite impact. His strongest game for us would we say?
S-Clarke Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Real tricky one tonight to be honest. Lots of great performances from Deano, Chappers, Fox, Fonte, Jos.... But I'll give it to Jos simply on the fact that he scored the winner. He didn't miss a header all night at the other end either. Pretty immense from him to say the least.
S-Clarke Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Hooiveld seems suited to these long ball physical challenges as West Ham gave us. They don't seem interested in playing football half the time i've seen them. Hooiveld has looked more uncomfortable against smaller, quicker or more intelligent forwards, as against Forest and Watford when plenty of chances were made. Still, no-one is going to be perfect at this level are they. He's like a newer and improved version of Jaidi. But TBF he's pretty tidy on the ground. His touch is incredibly sound.
SuperMikey Posted 19 October, 2011 Posted 19 October, 2011 Chaplow for me, his energy in midfield was great. Hooiveld was fantastic though, as were Kelvin and Fox.
St_Tel49 Posted 19 October, 2011 Posted 19 October, 2011 I voted for Jos but Chaplow, Fox, Scheiderlin, Hammond,Do Prado, Davis ... in fact I thought that the whole damn team were immense.
forever a red and white Posted 19 October, 2011 Posted 19 October, 2011 Went Jos Hooiveld but Hammond, Morgan, Guly, Chappers all really stood out for me. So pleased ot see Morgan get the better of Nolan. And Hammond, he was just imense today, really gone up a gear.
eurosaint Posted 19 October, 2011 Posted 19 October, 2011 from the radio...hooiveld From the stadium, Hooiveld !
Pugwash Posted 19 October, 2011 Posted 19 October, 2011 Jos edged it, but Chaplow was very good. Thought Fox had a good game, and of course Kelvin. Fonte had a right old tussle all night and apart from the obvious kick-fail was pretty solid. Only disappointment for me was Richardson. Crosses and passes were wayward and he didn't seem to know when to get forward.
Colinjb Posted 20 October, 2011 Author Posted 20 October, 2011 Ok, Jos Hooiveld taken as MOTM. That was bloody tight though!
Aardvark Posted 20 October, 2011 Posted 20 October, 2011 Without Davis 3 points would have been 0 points. Without Hoijveld 3 points may have been 1 point. Chaplow et al (excellent though they were) - any result was possible. How can Kelvin, with at LEAST 2 world class saves, not have been MOM!!??
keithd Posted 20 October, 2011 Posted 20 October, 2011 Without Davis 3 points would have been 0 points. Without Hoijveld 3 points may have been 1 point. Chaplow et al (excellent though they were) - any result was possible. How can Kelvin, with at LEAST 2 world class saves, not have been MOM!!?? by that definition any game we win the MOM has to be the goalkeeper? He made 2 GOOD saves, saves any professional keeper ought to make, wouldnt call them world class
