CWD Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 So we are only top because the other teams fail? How sad ... Christ, Alpine can't win can he? This is an amazing feeling right now, can't wait to see the boys live again on Saturday evening to see us go 8 points clear!
del boy Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 You'd have to be a tw*t not to be impressed. Love it
Liquidshokk Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Ok that was an awesome game to watch! It was the chaplow and guly show for most of it with chaplow being my motm. Hooveild was great too... How we didn't score an own goal towards the end I don't know?! Who was that who headed it? Fonte had a shakey game but saved us a couple of times. We weren't perfect throughout and playing out from the back again nearly tripped us up again a few times but in response to the west ham fan I overhead saying "i wouldn't mind if Southampton were amazing but they really weren't" if we weren't amazing then I hate to think what that makes them... Poor big Sam. He wasn't impressed. Adkins was ecstatic and rightly so. Happy days!!!
sambosa75 Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 anyone able to nab the highlights off sky sports news???
pedg Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 (edited) On the topic of the 5 points lead good to see Coventry get a late equaliser against Leeds as now even if you added 3 points for Leeds game in hand they would also be on 21. Edited 18 October, 2011 by pedg
s0108787 Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Sorry, but if it were a choice between Saints 5 points clear and Lucy Pinder's parted cheeks, I would have to go for the table tonight.... Have to say i disagree, it's a long season. Lucy might not wait, promotion will!
ericofarabia Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 I loves you man. Not in a gay way, more in a schmashed way, I lik beer. I thinks I wantsh Niges babsies too. I'm gonna shleep well tonite. sandwichsaint Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 WHU natives are restless: That was ****ing terrible and the sooner we get rid of Big Fat ****, the better. He's the spawn of the devil with his **** football. Every time we come up against a top team, we lose. It's very worrying. Don't be fooled by Fat Sam's smoke and mirrors with a few good results here and there. You can grind you way to safety in the Premiership, but in the Championship, you need to attack your way out the division. The long ball is bread and butter to Championship defenders. Wake up Fat Sam, or **** off. Glad we got Nigel driving our bus!
Spudders Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Alpine happy and Dalek admitting he may have got it wrong! Surely this thread needs to be moved into the golden posts section at some point! Happy days
ericofarabia Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Have to say i disagree, it's a long season. Lucy might not wait, promotion will! Ok .... comprimise time .... lucy pinder on the kitchen table
Mattio Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 COYR! Good game! Shame I missed the goal, and had some dicks in cor-prat behind me who kept touching my shoulders, other than that awesome!
Dalek2003 Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Did Cork come on right at the end ? \if we could get a really good quality striker in Jan to add to our current strikeforce it will be awesome. Still worry whether Connolly will last the pace. \how long before Barnyard is fully fit ?
Jimmy_D Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! We win, all our nearest rivals lost or drew, Pompey lost, we ARE 5 points clear having just beat the team in 2nd... PERFECT! MOTM for me was Chaplow by a long way. What with the ref pulling us back after that goal, and then calling 5 mins of stoppage time and playing about 1/2 an hour after the 90, it certainly felt to me like he wanted this game to be a draw, but my perception may have been skewed
AussieDog Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Had an even more stressful drive into Brisbane for work this morning. If coping with rush hour madness wasn't bad enough I had to listen to the commentary via my laptop perched precariously on the missus's lap with the wi-fi cutting in and out for the last 15 minutes of the game. I nearly crashed when I though DeRidder had scored our second, only to be denied by the ref's earlier whistle for the foul. Still...sat in my office now, cup of tea in my hand and a stupid grin on my face. COYR
Dr Who? Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Jeeesus, we could be 7 points clear by 6pm on Saturday.. Make that 7pm ;-)

Wake up Fat Sam, or **** off. Glad we got Nigel driving our bus! Haha!! I've just taken a peek at the WHU forum too. Still no real indication that they think they may be the second best team at the moment. Still full of themselves for the most part. Overall, not much of the wrist slitting that goes on with some of the posters here. Largely, they still regard themselves as the chosen ones. That may be the case, but there are a lot of games to play yet.
suewhistle Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 I#m so glad this poor teacher of English splashed out on Saints Player.. Get that footage up quick!
Mattio Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Did Cork come on right at the end ?Yup, didn't see much of the ball though
dubai_phil Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Lol Crazy happy phone call with my buddies stuck in traffic. They had Chaplow as their MoM Also heard rumour we are signing a striker from Chelsea on loan in January.
Ohio Saint Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Note to self: Do NOT panic in the future when I see the team list!!!
hypochondriac Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Absolutely brilliant. Survived a few hairy moments against a well organised but dull West Ham. For once we took one of the few chances we had. Far better that than creating loads but not scoring. Thought Kelvin was brilliant. Any idea why our second goal was ruled out?

Ref wanted to book one of their players, so dissallowed a goal...................Expletives deleted.
Gorgiesaint Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Brilliant result. West Ham fan on Talksport on Saints - easily the best team we've played this season, the way they move the ball around. Goldstein then made the point that from last season it was Prem against L1 and he went - well they (Saints) looked like the Premier league team and we (West Ham) were L1.

moonraker Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Sat in a fornmal dinner next to WH STH we have both been glued to the updates, I am the one drinking lots of port. We are top of the league
hypochondriac Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 OK, I'm impressed. The table looks superb. Another set of results in our favour. We must be good. Never thought I would see the day!
bug187 Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 The traffic was mental normally takes about 10 minutes to get home..Just got in..thought I was gonna have a heart attack in the second half. 5 points ahead though. Amazing.
dubai_phil Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Well, I said I wanted 3 points for my B'day.... Next year I'm gonna ask for Lucy Pinder & a bottle of baby oil..... Buzzing as I make my way off to pass out
Ohio Saint Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Both Alpine and Hypo have boarded the bus, but I'll be damned if I'm giving up my seat for them!!!

Bairdylegend Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Wow - I really did not see this coming. Mr Adkins - I congratulate you. AND we've given AL the week off. Tidy
dubai_phil Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Happy Birthday by the way. I'm fighting off the passing out stage in favour of not wanting this feeling to end! Sorta ditto but thenit's my b'day - time or some feeling at the end.......... If ONLY I could get the future Mrs D_P off her Farmville G'Night one and all how great it is being part of a happy global family again
Sheaf Saint Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Just wow. 5 points clear at the top after 12 games. Did any of us see that coming before the season started? When we made our good start I thought it was just that we were on a good run carried over from last season and that it was a bit false, but you know what?... I'm actually starting to believe we can get promoted this season now.
sperm_john Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 to win without our best player ...brilliant (AL) ...to win and jos score ...even better (he will be absolutely brimming now and theres nothing better than a confident centre back!
Benj Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 This marks the point in the season where we can really say we're challenging, not just for promotion, but for the title. I was optimistic about this season and thought we'd have a good crack at making top 6 but this is just unbelievable.

SW11_Saint Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 On train back to London. Few WH around. Great result, great performance - Jos, Fox, Deano, Chaplow, Connolly stood out for me, top effort all-round though. Don't even mind the dry train, well, not much...
Give it to Ron Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Some fantastic performances , Kelvin, Fox, Chaplow, Hammond. Morgan and Guly really keeps the ball well. MOM was Joos who was tremendous. I was a bit disappointed with the two up front but we were playing against a quality side with quality players...summed it up with Mark Noble coming oon as sub! Helped us in the last ten with Carew coming off as we then won the aerial battle. ****e tactics Sam...wouldnt swap Adkins for him ever..even if we go on a losing run our tactics again were spot on
Professor Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Expected the win but didn't expect WH to be so negative. The Evening Standard said WH were coming to SMS to get the win that would take them top, but maybe Sam Alladyce doesn't read the London papers and preferred the tactics that have got him the push from most of his previous jobs..... Great result over the team in second place. Still a long way to go, but this is definitely promotion form.

suewhistle Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Sod it, my face hurts I'm grinning so much! Why didn't Cork play from the beginning, haven't seen any reasons given. I'm now off to discharge my rechargeable batteries... :-))) I'm going to be so frisky at footie training tomorrow evening: I promise to wear a Saints shirt.:-)

LGTL Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 An absolutely fantastic evening. St Mary's was rocking, great effort by all, and the football was superb. West Ham were embarrassing though, how is a load of ****e like that 2nd? I am ecstatic, roll on Reading!
VectisSaint Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Also heard rumour we are signing a striker from Chelsea on loan in January. Just hope its not Torres then :-) Drogba would do, decent backup for Rickie.
Ohio Saint Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 Rotating squad and it worked a treat as Hammond, Morgan, Guly and Chaplow were brilliant. Although I can see NA rotating the squad a little to keep up player confidence, I felt it was done more to surprise Sam A. If that was the case, then it worked as SA made a VERY early sub in the first half.
Stanley Saint Posted 18 October, 2011 Posted 18 October, 2011 I don't remember the last time I enjoyed a match so much. An absolute joy to watch from start to finish. We played some superb football, were unlucky not to come away with 4, but the fact that it stayed 1-0 made the last 15 minutes truly nail-biting. We do miss Lallana, but the work and guile being put in by Chaplow, Connelly, Guly and Lambert to compensate is fantastic. Adkins has built a superb team and they deserve a full ground every week.
