What's with the strange user names?

I've notice lately that all our new members have really weird user names.

 

For example, today's newby:

 

enlaclepe

 

But all the people actually visiting the site have normal(ish) u/names.

They're spam bots, usually originating from Russia or China. Fortunately, because we use a two-stage registration filter process, none of them ever get through to actually being able to post, although just their profiles being available can be a problem in terms of search engine listings.

 

I try to delete as many of them as and when they register, and the domain names they register from get added to the blocked domains list we maintain.
