"League Managers Assoc boss Richard Bevan has just woken me up with claim that 4 or 5 PL clubs want to end promotion/relegation

Bevan strongly hints that these are foreign-owned clubs & says this is why football needs FA-run licensing system as Govt demands "

I can see this going down extremely well with the football league clubs, I wonder if the four clubs are Bolton, Wigan, Blackbourne and Sun derland?

There is an interesting programme on talksport Sunday nights called The Press Pass, this was bought up last night.Matt Dickinson of the Times, said that "American owners" of Premier League clubs are pushing for a franchise system, like the NFL. He said it was one of the things things that attracted them in the first place. With it, they then feel that they can work a wages cap and continue to make money year on year with no worry of relegation.

Again, if Liverpool or Manure do try to pull this off I would be gobsmacked if the scouse/manure fans would let it happen. There would be complete solidarity amongst all football supporters of all divisions. The Scousers would make their recent protests look like a picnic as would Man U.

I really just can't see it happen. There would be picket lines outside the turnstiles at Anfield and Old Traf. Maybe not manned by the 'tourist fan' but the hardcore would not stomach it.

So there will be at least seven or eight people protesting outside old trafford then?

I think money talks. However there appear to be rich greedy self protecting clubs on one side, That could grow and if 11 out of 20 clubs wanted it it might happen.

On the other side Sky have the money! If they can see a drop in domestic revenue greater than the potential international revenue then they would pull every string to stop it happening. It could end up as boring as scottish football endlessly playing the same old teams, getting the same result as last year. and the rich get richer and better and the poor get poorer and worse.

Errrr. it is already like that. There are only 4 teams that have won the Premiership, 4! And ManU have won it most years since it's inception. How much more boring could it get. This year, ManC might challenge them - could then be 5 clubs that have won it. ManC have spent somewhere in the region of 1 billion pounds in the last 2-3 years in order to achieve this. I can see Wigan, Blackburn, Everton and Bolton all challenging as well in the next few coming seasons - really, I can.
