hasper57saint Posted 16 October, 2011 Share Posted 16 October, 2011 TBH WH don't bother me at all. They're a 'London' Club who are very very lucky to be in existence. The name itself conjours up all sorts of memories but don't let sentiment rule your heart. We will WIN on Tuesday and expose Herr Allardice and WH as 'paper tigers'. 3 - 0 to Saints. ericofarabia Posted 16 October, 2011 Share Posted 16 October, 2011 Well, That forum read was a bit comical really in terms of complacency. On paper they could well stuff us, but the Saints at the moment, while we have some good players, are running heavily on team spirit, and you just can't calculate the odds for that. Saints at the moment remind me a little of Wimbledon's "Crazy gang" We can actually beat any team on the right day. We could also fall to a superior team on paper. It would be foolish to make a prediction on this one. If we lose, it will be far from the end of the world for us and I won't be panicking. If we win, I'll probably just leave a stain in my pants that I won't want wifey to wash out. Win, lose or draw....Bring it on!!! But they don't have our secret weapon of nuns, weather reports and lucky fags to fall back on in the case of emergencys!!
Matthew Le God Posted 16 October, 2011 Share Posted 16 October, 2011 Saints at the moment remind me a little of Wimbledon's "Crazy gang" Really? LeBenali Posted 16 October, 2011 Share Posted 16 October, 2011 Was at their game yesterday vs Blackpool. Thought they looked weak at the back (furthermore Tompkins went off injured), and Taylor wasn't oo impressive down the wing. However, Diop was quite solid in the middle, Carew was involved in a lot of link up play, and Baldocks movement was very impressive (however, he did have a tendancy to slip offside a lot). If we can contain the front two, then I can certainly see us getting something from the game. I can also see Connolly scoring against his former club

yorkie Posted 16 October, 2011 Share Posted 16 October, 2011 Second full house in 4-days - if the players can't be up for it then I am very concerned. WHU will try to stifle our passing game and hope we resort to direct hoof ball by-passing our midfield - but we are far from a one dimensional team and we will sort that out. Still think we look weak at the back - and if we start as slowly against WHU we will go one behind for sure. WHU will then shut up shop - and we will be under pressure to break down a 10-man defence - and probably get caught on the break. The first 10-mins are critical and if we score early I think we will boss the game. The longer it stays 0-0 I would imagine WHU will run out of steam by 75-mins and we take them apart with our superior fitness. But then again what do I know? It is the biggest game of the season thus far - it could be Leeds all over again! A big away following with expectations to take us apart - yet little old Southampton standing their ground, going toe to toe, and coming out victorious. Bring it on - with or without Lallana I think we will be too strong at home for West Ham.

Upton72 Posted 16 October, 2011 Share Posted 16 October, 2011 West Ham were always the by word for attractive football for those of us with long memories. Big Sam isn't that sort of manager and, as pointed out earlier, a fair chunk of their fan base, remembering their heritage, didn't like his appointment. Like most football fans, if the team is winning, it's all good. I've got friends coming down for the match, long time season ticket holders and I've advised that "silky football and towering individual skills may not be on Big Sam's agenda for the evening" They have got players with some pedigree and they'll be dangerous. Too close to call for me.

eelpie Posted 17 October, 2011 Share Posted 17 October, 2011 Significantly, West Ham have a very good away record. Three wins and two draws (compared to our two wins) emphasise that this is going to be a tight match. Incidentally most of the seven clubs who have a better away record than us have yet to play us at home. Make of that what you will.
