I am usually v positive about saints predictions...however, i think we will losethey are bang on form now, have players all over the pitch that have proven prem quality and their manager is no mug.carew and baldock/cole up front with nolan in the middle will not miss as many chances as other teams havewe are going to lose at home at some point this season and have a funny feeling that this will be it.....to win, we cant be as wasteful in front of goal as we have been at times this season...top two on a tuesday night with 30k+ fans...going to be a cracker.sadly, if I was in the predictions league I would go for.... 1-3

Game will turn on our defence and the back four's ability to contain what is a physical, powerful side. Some of our lingering frailties at the back haven't been fully exploited by recent opposition but if we can do the basics right, can see us getting something out of the game. Expect Deano to return.

Fortress St Marys and a big turnout. They arent exactly the quickest side, so if we can handle their direct style well, keep Nolan quiet, I reckon we can hopefully be too quick of them.

Agree - I think we have greater trouble against pace than power. We dealt with Birmingham, another big side, OK. Will be interesting to see if they stay with 4-4-2 and start with Baldock and Carew or go back to their trusted 4-5-1 in which case Baldock will probably drop to the bench.

They seem confident

the moose guy, from talksport, who was on radio saying they are by far the biggest team in division and will walk league, tweeted last night to remember we were only

league 1 last year - hopefully we will be under-estimated!

Not really, I've seen one post on that thread predicting they'll win, the majority would all be happy with a point...

They aren't that good, once again people are playing the names. We have been fantastic at home and I'd predict us to beat most teams there at the moment. 2-1 Saints. Ever the optimist.

I might be in the minority, but Nolan doesn't worry me at all. Very overate player in my eyes. Carew and Baldock do offer a genuine threat though and Matty Taylor is a thorn in our side. But they have weaknesses, especially at the back. I have no fear right now. We are playing wonderful football. The more tippy tappy the better in my book. I've been calling for this for 25 years so I'm certainly not going to moan about it now. I am really looking forward to this game. Over the last couple of years we have really raised to the occasion when the `big' sides come to town. I rate our chances. We just need to dominate possession as we usually do and starve them of ball. Without it I think they'll struggle and we will create chances. Connelly winner on its way...

It's my wife's birthday on Tuesday so I won't be going - my ST will be burning a hole in my pocket at a restaurant. We can definitely win this and I think there will be a few goals so I'll go for 3-2 to Saints.

Havent you got somebody who can send you a text or even better phone up the missus earlier in the day and say that you are required to attend an important meeting, and need to be there most of the evening?

And then it'll be Valentines for the away game no doubt ;)

How exactly are they bang in form? Yes, they just won a game 4-0, but Blackpool were **** poor and gifted them goals from shocking defending. Since they beat forest 4-1, they beat the skates by a single goal whilst conceding 3, drew 0-0 with Millwall, scraped past Posh 1-0 (both poor sides). They then lost at home to Ipswich and drew with Palace before the international break. That tells me they're not all that going forward, and can be suspect at the back.

I think we'll have chances, and if we carry on with our ruthless finishing at home, there's no reason why we can't keep on our winning run.

Take her for a meal at St Marys; upgrade to hospitality. You know you want to!

As for the score - head says we will lose, heart says we will win, so I think I will go for a draw in the prediction league.

They are scared of Rickie!

So they should… and the rest. We can beat them 4-0 on Tuesday if we want to. West Ham are a Championship Club, we are Premier League! ;)

To be fair, I think this is the test of the season so far. West Ham are good, but we are better. 5 points clear at the top of the league by Wednesday is my prediction.

I think we'll win 3-1.

Really looking forward to this.

It kind of reminds me of the Birmingham game years ago (2006 playoffs)...real anticipation as we're facing a team with real top quality.

Brum were very very good that year and had a very talented squad of players (Bendtner, Seb Laarson for e.g). Similar to what WHU have at their disposal this year.

By all accounts, reading their forums their 4-0 win wasn't as ''easy'' as it sounded. It was more down to Blackpool not defending at key moments, they had alot of the game and had them on the ropes apparently.

They're definitely beatable and our lads are going to be right up for this. So much at stake for either team...we win, we go 5 points clear at the top (amazing..!!) they win...they go top etc.

Hope we can get De Ridder into the team for this. Maybe move Guly up top and start SDR out on the right. Harsh on DC, but I think the pace De Ridder has, can really cause them problems

Or if Adam isn't fit, we could put SDR in and drop Chaplow back to the bench. Harsh I know, and I do really like Chaplow but Steve's pace might be more effective for this one.

Nothing to lose, West Ham should win comfortably. It's crazy what they've spent after being broke. Really hope they fail and get what they deserve to be honest, whether they beat us or not. It's no way to run a football club long term and their owners deserve nothing.

But with our defence facing their attacking players and us missing Lallana, I don't see anything but an away win. 0-3. We're due a home loss, just hope we bounce back quickly should it happen.

For what it's worth I think overall we have a better team in terms of the long term, improving with time and playing decent football, and we have the best player in Lallana, but they have some Premier League players right now. They're mostly on the way down like Carew, Nolan, Green etc., so the future isn't bright and they're hugely overpaid, but right now it's a huge test.

Hope we play De Ridder and go for it anyway. With Almunia in goal there has to be chances. Guess start Connolly, but his goal threat seems to have dried up.

No team will come to SMS and win comfortably these days. If they win I'm pretty sure it will be tight even without Adam we're no mugs. Wish we had a fit Jiadi for this one though to give Carew a good battle.

Looking at their forum, they sound a lot like us when we were in League 1, giving it the big "I am", saying "we should beat these sorts of teams" etc. Therefore I hope we stuff them. W^nkers.
talking of league 1...huddersfield are still unbeaten in the league since we did them 4-1 at SMS nearly 1 year ago.....mental....(playoffs dont count as league games)

Fan on their forum said "Teams like this should be fearing us". What, teams above you....?

these people live in the past, same as us when we were going to "walk this league". Perhaps we should be afraid of some former West Ham sides, that Bobby Moore was a fair old player, he'd have won it for them all by himself.West Ham of today are really nothing special, that's why they got relegated and they've even sold a couple of players since then.

to be fair...we were full of it when chasing brighton last season.

Well, That forum read was a bit comical really in terms of complacency. On paper they could well stuff us, but the Saints at the moment, while we have some good players, are running heavily on team spirit, and you just can't calculate the odds for that.

Saints at the moment remind me a little of Wimbledon's "Crazy gang" We can actually beat any team on the right day. We could also fall to a superior team on paper. It would be foolish to make a prediction on this one.

If we lose, it will be far from the end of the world for us and I won't be panicking. If we win, I'll probably just leave a stain in my pants that I won't want wifey to wash out.

Win, lose or draw....Bring it on!!! :D
