Sour Mash Posted 14 October, 2011 Posted 14 October, 2011 For those of you who take an interest in this sort of thing... Assume that image will be updated as the season progresses. That's good mate, where did you find that? Me and the usual geeks will spend ages going through that!
stevegrant Posted 14 October, 2011 Author Posted 14 October, 2011 Someone posted it on another forum, looks like it's come from a Millwall site. Assume they just trawl through the OS match reports to find away figures where given. There are a few that are in italics that I assume are estimated numbers.
oldsarum Posted 14 October, 2011 Posted 14 October, 2011 This I think is where the info originates http://www.footballforums.net/forums/showthread.php/277307-Championship-Away-Following-2011-12?p=7313287

MarkSFC Posted 14 October, 2011 Posted 14 October, 2011 be great if someone could create a chart which details the number of fans per mile - based on the assumption that all supporters travel from their home ground!! May be a better indication of who is best supported as its far easier for midland and northern fans to travel away.
100%Red&White Posted 14 October, 2011 Posted 14 October, 2011 No figures for Cardiff away (around 2000) and the Leicester figure was advanced sales, do they not include sold on-the-day tickets? Also missed off the skate's handful at Leeds.
Appy Posted 14 October, 2011 Posted 14 October, 2011 We had 1200 at Barnsley i think. Edit: http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/MatchReport/0,,10280~57834,00.html 1,138.
Sour Mash Posted 14 October, 2011 Posted 14 October, 2011 Yeah, just looking through this, load of rubbish. Would be good if it was properly recorded and kept up to date.
oldsarum Posted 14 October, 2011 Posted 14 October, 2011 We had 1200 at Barnsley i think. Edit: http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/MatchReport/0,,10280~57834,00.html 1,138. I think the attendance figure was taken from Barnsley's match report on their own official site Figures may vary to some extent but normally not too far out
CFSFC Posted 20 October, 2011 Posted 20 October, 2011 And we took 1800 to Cardiff. We will take 4200 to reading, 2500ish to Coventry... Easily.
saints_is_the_south Posted 23 October, 2011 Posted 23 October, 2011 Barnsley - 1,138 Ipswich - 1,165 Leicester - 2,682 Burnley - 1,155 Derby - 2,611 Reading - 4,203 Average - 2,159 No figures for Cardiff but I think we were given about 1,800. A few empty seats around where I was, so I'm guessing about 1700 approx. No figures for Swindon in the CC either but we filled the entire side bit which holds 1200 and had 3 or 400 hundred behind the goal. Should take atleast 2,500 to Cov if not 3k. Bristol City at the end of November will sell out too, maximum away allocation is 2800.
The Cat Posted 23 October, 2011 Posted 23 October, 2011 Don't forget we'll also be taking over 2000 to Palace for the Carling Cup game on Tuesday which is pretty damn impressive.
Saint Lindford Posted 6 November, 2011 Posted 6 November, 2011 Plus another 20 or so in the corporate boxes.
saints_is_the_south Posted 6 November, 2011 Posted 6 November, 2011 With 3,008 at Cov yesterday, that now takes our average for the season to 2,183. That includes Palace in the CC and guestimates for Swindon & Cardiff.
saints_is_the_south Posted 22 December, 2011 Posted 22 December, 2011 Barnsley - 1,138 Ipswich - 1,165 Leicester - 2,682 Swindon (LGC) - 1600 Approx Burnley - 1,155 Cardiff - 1700 Approx Derby - 2,611 Reading - 4,203 Crystal Palace (LGC) - 2,571 Coventry - 3,008 Bristol City - 2,173 Doncaster - 1,792 Skates - anywhere between 2,400 to 3,200 depending on who you believe! Average of 2,149 without including last Sunday.
Saints foreva Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 From another forum: Our figure doesn't include Skates away as they do not publish official away figures like most clubs, probably because it makes their home support look even worse!
LGTL Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 Considering our geography gives us a distinct disadvantage compared to the others, that's very good.
alehouseboys Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 Considering our geography gives us a distinct disadvantage compared to the others, that's very good. I remember reading something in the old Ugly Inside fanzine many years ago, there was a comparison between the amount of miles Southampton fans travelled away over a season compared to (I think it was) Leicester, and we did nearly twice as many miles as them. It's a doddle for midlands clubs.
Orange Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 Yeah you have to factor in how many more miles we have to travel. Shout out should go to Carlisle i think, over 800 considering the journeys they face, which they've done so many times.

Looking through the Cov programme on the train home on Sat, there were some disgustingly bad away attendances listed.
Orange Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 Looking through the Cov programme on the train home on Sat, there were some disgustingly bad away attendances listed. The likes of what clubs?
Sour Mash Posted 11 January, 2012 Posted 11 January, 2012 The likes of what clubs? Watford only taking 849 up there, Reading took 815, both on Saturdays. Cov took 183 to M'Boro, 185 to Ipswich, 225 to Leeds. The last two were midweek, but that's still dire no matter how bad their side is doing.

saints_is_the_south Posted 18 March, 2012 Posted 18 March, 2012 Anybody know how many we took to Leeds the other week? Not seen any official figure, but my Auntie who went reckoned it about 1200. 2,395 at Millwall yesterday.

saints_is_the_south Posted 10 April, 2012 Posted 10 April, 2012 Barnsley - 1,138 Ipswich - 1,165 Leicester - 2,682 Burnley - 1,155 Derby - 2,611 Cardiff - 1,754 Reading - 4,203 Coventry - 3,008 Bristol City - 2,173 Doncaster - 1,792 Brighton - 2,422 Nottm Forest - 2,294 Birmingham - 1,555 Watford - 1,955 Leeds United - 887 Millwall - 2,395 Blackpool - 2,053 Crystal Palace - 5,820 Average of 2,281. This does not include the Skates, West Ham and Hull which I've been unable to find any official figures for. Skates & WH I'd probably guess at 3k which brings the average up to approx 2,353. Not sure about the Hull game, think I read rumours of about 600? Have to say our away following this season has been very impressive IMO. Only 1 (2 if you count Hull) attendances under 1000, and the majority 2000+.
Saint Garrett Posted 11 April, 2012 Posted 11 April, 2012 Skates must have been 3200, WHU about 3000, Hull about 750 I would have thought.
Ziggy Posted 15 April, 2012 Posted 15 April, 2012 On five live yesterday the commentator mentioned that the Skates had 800 odd fans at Doncaster and what a great effort that was given the distance! It amazes me how their mythical support is considered to be anything more than decidedly average.
Sour Mash Posted 30 December, 2012 Posted 30 December, 2012 Anyone got the figures from this season, or know how we can find them?
Griffo Posted 30 December, 2012 Posted 30 December, 2012 Anyone got the figures from this season, or know how we can find them? thefootballforums.net have a thread for away attendances but only in the Championship and League 1/2 sections, but nothing for the Prem. Our OS used to give us our away attendance in match reports last season too which seems to have stopped now.
