Away Support

I have never known us take so many away in my time of going away with Saints.... Carried over from last season...

Brentford, Plymouth, Leicester, probably to be expected with Reading..

But 2700 to Derby @ 28 quid a ticket. Top effort. Cant wait for the game now.

I agree about the numbers. In our premiership days our away support at Northern games was often in the hundreds. That said I do think the quality of support has declined. More and more people seem to be using the travel club now and we all know that more coaches = less atmosphere.

I can understand this. I'm just saying that arriving 20 mins before kick-off as oposed to having a few beers before isn't condusive with a good atmosphere. I've been to lots of away games over the past few years where we've taken good numbers yet the majority sit there in silence.

Hopefully this won't be the case in the next 2 matches, especially Reading - hoping our crap Al Jazeera station shows it - 4000 Saints Fans giving it welly on the way to a convincing win would give me a very pleasent semi and impress anybody at the urinals in the pub into thinking it is in sleep mode LOL

Dude.

IF it's on telly, we'll be watching the game in a sports bar, NOT the hooker bar.

Perhaps you may want to re-think your timings on your semi or you'll be watching it on your fecking own

Ipswich away was up there with the best ive heard us away, Where as barnsley was truely awful. And Leicester 2700 was very good.

Yep. I thought Cardiff was average despite the fact we had 2000 odd there which is a good effort on a Tuesday night. Wonder how many we'll take to Coventry? Bristol Ciy after that which I'd imagine we'll sell out no problem.

Burnley maybe ... yep I was pretty disappointed at the complete lack of interest at times WTF was that about?

When we are good we are very very good - when we are not we are ****e.

LOL .... in all our years of watching TV matches together .... I don't think we've ever got past 3 mins level let alone be in the lead in a match ... if we win and and the crowd do us proud I will not be held accountable for what goes on in my trouser region ;)

Saw this on one of their fans sites:

it's on:

Jazeera Sport +5

C+ Sport (DK)

L'equipe TV (FR)

Sportkulb (PL)

Supersport 5 (AL)

TV4 Sport (SK)

Viasat Football (NO)

Plus it will be on Bet365 for those outside of the UK.

There probably will be a dodgy pub somewhere to watch it as Jazeera sport only costs £80 for the whole year and is very receivable in the UK if you have the correct equipment. Loads of pubs/arab coffee bars in manchester have it.

This season, Ipswich and Leicester were fanastic away support. It's good to have the support travelling again, and it is probably the best its been for a few years. Derby in the play offs was fanastic in 2007 but there have been many many occasions when we have taken huge numbers to games. The great escape season, Delhurst Park, magnificent! Brighton in the 80's in a cup game, think Moran and Cockerill scored, there are so many from games to choose from in the 80's and 90's.

But as the OP says its the best away support for a few years. Reading with 4000+ will be cracking and Debry tomorrow will be awesome, will probabaly have no voice left after tomorrow!

Can't all afford to travel in style. Anyway, there is nothing wrong with the travel coaches. Been on many and there is always a good atmosphere. Unless someone uses the on-board crapper and stinks the whole coach out.

Agreed about the lack of singing at away games compared to previous years but totally disagree about needing to drink to have a good time. Swindon away at one stage was deafeningly quiet, so too Leicester at times. Let's hope for a vocal performance against the rams.

Derby turnout is great and next Sat will be a blast I am sure.

The last time at Reading was sold out (in our end) and very loud. I am certain that part of it was the feeling that, despite being bottom and having a miserable season and a ton of kids in the team, we could do one over Reading, whose supporters were getting a little f-ing tiresome bigging up themselves. On the way to the ground that day, I heard one say, "why are all these lot from Southampton even here, and singing before the game too, they are bottom and have no chance?". Nuff said.
