For the listy amongst us, the clue's in the title.

It must be a fairly short-ish list for most people?

Teams you've seen away but you've never seen at home:

Middlesborough

Bristol City

S****horpe

Southend

Harlepool

Brentford

Wimbledon

Luton

Stoke

Edit, add Watford and Notts County too, hasn't it been great watching Saints home and away over the last couple of years?

cue some 'Northern exile' type with a list of 40 teams.

Walsall

Notts County

Sheff Weds

Oldham

Tranmere

Burnley

Oh bollards I was at that Burnley home game the day we were relegated to L1. Must have pushed it out of my memory like an unwanted turd.

Now that's hurting the grey matter .... only averaging 2 or 3 games a season since I've lived overseas, and most of them away games means a few teams may have snuck in over the last few years since relegation, but brain a bit slowed by a bottle of red ... but I reckon

Bomo (friendly late 70's early 80's)

Tranmere (Yes THAT Cup Match!!)

Huddersfield

Stockport

Barnsley

Wimbledon

Preston (think I may have seen them at SMS a few years back 0-0 bore draw?

Aldershot (friendly), and to make you think - Grimsby. (but I've never been to Grimsby!)

I'm thinking, but I'm not getting it. A second FA cup replay on a neutral ground? Were Grimsby ever exiled elsewhere?

FA Cup 3rd round 2nd replay at Leicester (Filbert Street)

I went to Grimsby where a huge crowd gave Lawrie a wonderful home coming and the replay at The Dell 0-0 after 210 minutes (plus injury time not recorede by fancy electronic boards) but couldn't make the 2nd replay.

Over 11000 turned up on a cold mid week winters night .... incredible when you think of FA Cup / League Cup crowds at home grounds nowadays!!

Grimsby play in Cleethorpes. There was also a 2nd replay in The FA Cup in 78 at Leicester.

I claim Barrow.

Pah ... shorter answer and quicker typing skills beat me to the Leicester answer!!

I think I was at the home replay for Barrow FA Cup 67? but didn't go on the away trip - too young :D for such an epic trip.

I was 8 and was taken to the away match by elder cousin and mates, but the replay was on a school night and that was not allowed. :(

I'm confused. I'm not the greatest Saints fan (I prefer Man U if truth be told), but I have been to a lot of Saints games, particularly games played in Soton. On almost every occasion I've seen a team play away and the majority of them I've never seen at home. I simply could not name them all if my life depended on it. How come you lot only have a few? Some people need to get to a few more games!!

Of the 78 English teams I've seen Saints Play away (I count the likes of Charlton as 1 even though I've seen Saints play them in 3 different grounds) I can't remember seeing us play Aldershot or Barnet at home. I may be wrong. All the European teams I've see us play away I've been to the home leg as well (Marsailles, Anderlecht, Steaua București etc.). I went to Aberdeen on the Tuesday after the 2003 cup final but never seen them at home. I, also, went on a pre-season tour to Scotland and saw us play Motherwell and Kilmarnock but, I don't think I've seen them at home. Oh, wait a minute, I think we played Motherwell at home in a pre-season friendly at SMS a couple of seasons ago. Was it Motherwell that Rasiak came on and scored a couple, one with his first touch ?

Notts County and Gillingham (both league cup ties) and possibly Bradford as I remember going to Valley Parade when they spent two seassons in the prem but cant remember going to the home games!

Anyone looking for a methodology, get the list on 92 clubs, then delete everyone you've never seen away, then delete everyone you've definitely seen at The Dell or St Mary's, then start looking into it a bit more, maybe checking seasons you had an ST, etc against Soccerbase. You may be surprised at some of the home matches you've been to that you've completely forgotten about.

I think it's only 2 :

Manchester City (been to Eastlands to see Saints win under Sturrock, but I think due to their lower league stint coinciding with my most regular Dell attendance in 1998-2000 that I've missed them in Southampton - they were still in the second tier when St Mary's opened and I got my first ST when living in South Wales, and we haven't been in the same league whilst I've had my ST since 2005). Before '98 I was playing much more often and would have only seen Saints sporadically, reducing the likelihood significantly.

Hereford United (may have seen them at Somerton Park against Newport County in the 1970s or 1980s though, probably in the Welsh Cup or Div 4).

everyone else I'm likely to have only seen away is non-League, like Bromsgrove Rovers, Evesham United, Forest Green Rovers, VS Rugby, Weston-super-Mare, Yate Town, Swindon Supermarine and Gloucester City - and even some of them may have pitched up against Newport in forgettable matches.
