for_heaven's_Saint Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 Salisbury Crown Court because he wouldn't get a fair trial in Southampton http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/9295973.Saints_star_on_trial_accused_of_violent_assault/?ref=la Was just wondering when this was. Should be interesting!
sir woody Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 He'll get sent down and we'll take beattie on a pay to play contract.
Gemmel Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 He'll get sent down and we'll take beattie on a pay to play contract. He won't get sent down. Slapped wrist and a fine.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 Sensational news from the trial - Judge: "The jury has found you guilty Mr Barnard but, in view of your employment by such a fine football club, I hereby sentence you to go and score many goals against those filthy Skate b*stards in December. Next!"
Colinjb Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 Nice of them to schedule it during an international break.

alpine_saint Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 Dont know whether to wish him luck or not. I think I would rather that justice be done.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 Courts don't do Justice. See Pompey thread.
Crazy Diamond Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 Dont know whether to wish him luck or not. I think I would rather that justice be done. Same here.
Turkish Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 Courts don't do Justice. See Pompey thread. They do if you're a smackhead with 25 plus convictions. You'll get plenty more chances then.
aintforever Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 I hope he gets off, for the greater good.
Window Cleaner Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 He'll get sent down and we'll take beattie on a pay to play contract. no he won't and no we won't.
Toomer Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 At worst he will get 3 months, but could end up with a suspended sentance, hefty fine and community service.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 Is it likely to last the whole 3 days?

SuperMikey Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 What did he do again. Smashed somebody over the head with a bottle in Whitehouse (now Cafe Parfait).
This Charming Man Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 What did he do again. Acting like a proper lad.
Shroppie Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 Smashed somebody over the head with a bottle in Whitehouse (now Cafe Parfait). (Allegedly)

dubai_phil Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 You forgot the nuns (or would it be sexy female barristers this time) You called?
scotty Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 They do if you're a smackhead with 25 plus convictions. You'll get plenty more chances then. stfu Turks, I was innocent.
Viking Warrior Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 He will get four years man who writes slogan on war memorial let off with a fine Man who sets light to a poppy during a remembrance parade gets let off with a caution and a small fine Two men who paint a poppy on a mosque door get two years Child rapisdt and paedohile gets sentence halfed to three and half years Footballer involved in a fight gets four years Motorist done for driving with out due care and attention gets 5 years Oh the justice system
hypochondriac Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 Do you have specifics of these cases? Especially the paedo one? I doubt some of them are true and there is probably more context than you have made out.
JackFrost Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 He'll get a suspended sentence, plus a heavy fine and/or community service. There's no way he'll get jailed
Saint_Jonny Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 If he did get any sort of prison sentance (not suspended), say 4 months or something, would that mean his contract with the club would be terminated? You'd imagine that sort of thing is written into a players contract, wouldn't you.

The Fat Controller Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 We need to be fair on this......if the blokes who bashed Dan Seaborne go to court, most of us think a custodial sentence is in order So why should Barney not expect a few months of porridge if found guilty.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 We need to be fair on this......if the blokes who bashed Dan Seaborne go to court, most of us think a custodial sentence is in order So why should Barney not expect a few months of porridge if found guilty. This. Unfortunately.
Bearsy Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 Man who sets light to a poppy during a remembrance parade gets let off with a caution and a small fine When you say poppy do you mean puppy? Otherwise caution and fine sounds about right to me.
Made in Southampton Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 We need to be fair on this......if the blokes who bashed Dan Seaborne go to court, most of us think a custodial sentence is in order So why should Barney not expect a few months of porridge if found guilty. This is a good point. Also im now wondering if there is any Ill blood from Seabourn toward barney having been on the receiving end of assault.
farawaysaint Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 When you say poppy do you mean puppy? Otherwise caution and fine sounds about right to me. Too right, you can't force people to show respect. A fine and caution is exactly right in this case.
bubblyone Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 Any chance you're a Daily Mail reader? Notice how ultra left wing comments are not linked to 'Guardian readers'. This board has been commandeered by 'the BBC'...lol
jayrivers Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 We need to be fair on this......if the blokes who bashed Dan Seaborne go to court, most of us think a custodial sentence is in order So why should Barney not expect a few months of porridge if found guilty. Do people know for sure what happened in both of these circumstances? Can they be compared like that?
Turkish Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 If he did get any sort of prison sentance (not suspended), say 4 months or something, would that mean his contract with the club would be terminated? You'd imagine that sort of thing is written into a players contract, wouldn't you. If he gets 4 months he'll be out by christmas. I'd like to see the club stand by him if found guilty. Everyone makes mistakes and by all accounts it was totally out of character.
The Kraken Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 If he gets 4 months he'll be out by christmas. I'd like to see the club stand by him if found guilty. Everyone makes mistakes and by all accounts it was totally out of character. Depends on precisely what he's done, for me. Lots of hearsay and speculation flying around about what did and didn't happen, maybe a lot of that will come out in the press.

Lots of hearsay and speculation flying around about what did and didn't happen, maybe a lot of that will come out in the press. I wouldn't bank on it. If convicted the press will glamourise it and make it sound much worse than it was, odds on the words "the incident resembling a scene from Braveheart" being used - 1/4 on.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 Is it live on Sky News ?? Yes, but because of his fame and position he has had to use a pseudonym. For the duration of the trial he will be know by the name Dr Conrad Murray.
Fan The Flames Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 If he did get any sort of prison sentance (not suspended), say 4 months or something, would that mean his contract with the club would be terminated? You'd imagine that sort of thing is written into a players contract, wouldn't you. Most clubs stick by the player, playing the rehabilitation card when they are really protecting the value of their asset.
Saint Stimp Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 If he gets 4 months he'll be out by christmas. I'd like to see the club stand by him if found guilty. Everyone makes mistakes and by all accounts it was totally out of character. You and him good mates then?
The Kraken Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 I wouldn't bank on it. If convicted the press will glamourise it and make it sound much worse than it was, odds on the words "the incident resembling a scene from Braveheart" being used - 1/4 on. Point taken, but effectively all the press are doing is reporting from what is heard in court, rather than their own interpretation/exaggeration of the facts. So the truth should be somewhere within all that, just maybe hidden a little bit behind the sensationalism.
Turkish Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 You and him good mates then? The fact that i said "by all accounts" was the clue.
Saint Stimp Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 The fact that i said "by all accounts" was the clue. ok, but from what I've read on different forums a lot of fans of other teams think he's a dirty bastard. Not saying I agree with them, or that they have particularly good judgement, but whenever other fans have called us a dirty team his name is consistently mentioned.
Chap in the Chapel Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 Smashed somebody over the head with a bottle in Whitehouse (now Cafe Parfait). I think someone should add 'allegedly' to this pretty sharpish... I'd hate to see anyone associated with this site hauled up for contempt of court!
hypochondriac Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 ok, but from what I've read on different forums a lot of fans of other teams think he's a dirty bastard. Not saying I agree with them, or that they have particularly good judgement, but whenever other fans have called us a dirty team his name is consistently mentioned. What do his actions on the football pitch have to do with anything?
Legod Third Coming Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 Does he have a cat? If so he will get off scott free...
Chin Strain Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 ok, but from what I've read on different forums a lot of fans of other teams think he's a dirty bastard. Not saying I agree with them, or that they have particularly good judgement, but whenever other fans have called us a dirty team his name is consistently mentioned. What's your point here SS? He doesn't pull out of a tackle, ergo he's a nasty piece of work off the pitch? How does that stack up then?
