saintoli Posted 9 October, 2011 Posted 9 October, 2011 Got a friend driving up from London for the West Ham game and he wants to know about parking on match day. Having always got the train to games im a bit lost for ideas. He is going to meet us in the Plume so somewhere nearish to St Marys street would be ideal. Any ideas? Many thanks

Many thanks Golden Grove (by Albion Towers - right opposite the Plume) if they get they get there early enough or Lime Street Car Park behind Debenhams, there's lots of spaces but with a big crowd expected wouldn't want to arrive too late. 5 minute walk to the Plume.
Colinjb Posted 9 October, 2011 Posted 9 October, 2011 If in doubt.... College Street. After parking dart over the nearby bridge and straight up into the stadium.
Dimond Geezer Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 I always park at Centurion Business Estate by Northam Bridge, probably 15-20 minutes walk to the Plume, and it's free.
Pedro Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 Should be easier considering its an evening game, can park on single yellow lines after 6pm.
100%Red&White Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 Should be easier considering its an evening game, can park on single yellow lines after 6pm. It's even possible to park right outside The Plume in St Mary's Street if you time it right. All the car parks mentioned are free after 6pm.
The9 Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 I always used to park on the road between The Plume and where the Eagle used to be - free after 6 and you get a jump on the traffic too if you get there quickly enough.

All the car parks mentioned are free after 6pm. The fact that they are free makes them more difficult to get into. We use the "pay and display"s between Ascupart Street and Golden Grove (behind the shops and in front of Albion Towers) on a Saturday and it's not usually too difficult to get in but for evening games you get all the tight arses who won't pay for their parking using them because they're free.

Plus you get stuck up and down St Mary's Street with the Northam traffic, whereas parking alongside Hoglands Park means if the dual carriageway looks busy you can get out via Millbrook or miss the queues up to the Jury's Inn - again if you shift it at the final whistle. As I used to have the reverse of last week's trip to Cardiff after every midweek game, I used to hang around near the exit in injury time and leg it all the way to the car, saves sitting in traffic for half an hour for no good reason.
dune Posted 11 October, 2011 Posted 11 October, 2011 Charlotte place is the bestest option because this is where I park.
