Derby Build Up

Last 3 away games we've started really slowly and only really came into our own in the 2nd half. Be good to see if Adkins takes a different approach this game to try and counter that.

Everyone said we were poor at Cardiff but we still bossed the game IMO - time to turn our fortunes on the road around.

Don't think we were poor as such at Cardiff, but wouldn't say we bossed it either. Very similar to Burnley, couldn't get our game going first half and we came to life at the end and should have finished our chances at the end. Don't know if its a case of the oppossition putting a real shift in to close our play down, meaning the last 15mins they're f*****d and we're able to create chances? Would just help if we weren't 1 or 2 down before that, easier said than done I know.

Hardly. If you can't bring on a 5th attacking option, it could limit your chances of winning, yes. But it you can't replace the keeper, you're fcked.

Bringing on attacking options usually means it's not going well, drawing or losing. So if it goes very well, you might rescue something. A keeper replacement could happen anytime, so you could through away a lead.

How many Saints games have you been to where we have had to bring on a sub keeper? It's got to be about 500/1? Well worth the gamble in my opinion, now we're down to 5 on the bencha nd ahve a squad of players in form and pushing for a place. Also, attimes, away from home, we've lacked options off the bench a bit, can't do any harm having that extra option. Or who would you choose to leave out of the squad so you can include a keeper on the bench?

Not sure to many managers would have the b ollocks not to bring an extra keeper HTBH. You're right keepers are hardly ever needed but a manager is going to get a lot of stick if one is needed and he choose to bring an extra striker.

What we need is a player who can play in goal and is a great striker to boot.............maybe bart could get trainned to play up front too....:)

Was it Warnock who never used to play with a keeper on the bench !?

Yeah, Jagielka was his back up keeper when at Sheffield United if anything happened to Kenny.

Seem to remember him keeping a clean sheet against Arsenal.

It will be a complete 33,000 sell out according to their OS. Should be brilliant, we need 2700 of us all up for it, stood up and singing for the full 90.

Yep totally agree with that there LGTL Mate as I for one will be standing up being it at the front or the back!

And hopefully will be the same for the Reading game as well but we'l see!

Am really looking forward to this game Tbh n a Win would be Pretty Sweet but a draw wouldn't be that bad as well as long as the teams around us drop points as well but we'l see!

Am coming up by Coach to the game and am thinking of going for a pre-match drink depending on what time we arrive-so where will fans be heading to for a drink or can you drink in the ground!?!

Am going to go for 2-2 with Lambert n Lalanna/Cork for Saints!

Am Gutted if Barnard has had another set back as it would have been Good to have him back-but hopefully he'l be back for either the West Ham game or the Reading game but we'l see!

COYR :D!!!

Not really. They've regularly got big crowds at home over the last few years.

Big crowds yes, but not that many sellouts. Seeing a completely full stadium adds extra pressure in the same way that 32,000 at St Marys has more visual impact than 28,000.

Match up there in Aug 2008 had attendance of 27,032 with only 1,098 saints fans, 2,700 Saints Fans this time is a great improvement.

I have this down as a 2-2 draw. question is will we be complaining of a point dropped or thankfull for a point gained? Time will tell. I am going but will have to sit with Derby fans as workmate is a season ticket holder and could only get me a ticket in thier end. Wish me luck!

I also think we'l draw 2-2 as well gjphilsaint Mate as yes the point would either be a point gained or a point dropped but we'l see come 4:45pm-5pm!

Good Luck with that as aslong as you don't get up if Saints score then you should be Fine Mate!

Where are people heading tomorrow for beers? Heard there is a Harvester close to the ground but sounds a bit sh1t!?

If you are travelling up with The london saints you'll be alright!! Those boys always seem to end up in the same pub as me (or is it t'óther way round!!)

If going by train a few pubs enroute from station - if you are into real Ale The Brunswick is the pick of the bunch. In fact one of my fav away pubs ever!!

A draw wouldn't be a bad result today, but I really hope we go from it from the start as we know we have enough up front to score goals. Although Derby got thrashed at Leicester they looked very energetic at the start of the game so we need to match that energy. And for God's sake can we please not concede in the first 15 minutes of the second half!!
