October's Games

Undoubtedly a tough month coming up, with the following fixtures all looking tricky, how do people think would realistically see us getting on?

Sat 15 15:00 A Derby County FLC

Tue 18 19:45 H West Ham Utd FLC

Sat 22 17:20 A Reading FLC

Tue 25 19:45 A Crystal Palace LGCP

Sat 29 15:00 H Middlesbrough FLC

I think if we can come out of the four league games with 8 points we'd have had an extremely good month, but I think we'll lose at least one of them, and even think our home record may come to an end when West Ham come to town. Would be good to progress to the Quarter Finals of the League Cup too.

I think we will beat Derby and Reading. I would happily take 4 points from the home games.

As you say, 8 points would be a very good return, given that it is a relatively tough run of games and would probably still see us top.

I would like to beat Palace but I imagine we will put out a second string that may include the likes of Jaidi and Barnard recoeperating from injury so much may depend on the strength of the Palace team fielded.

Derby had a start similar to this last year, then faded away from October onwards and ended up scrapping towards the bottom. Wouldn't surprise me if this year is the same, as they don't have a huge squad at all. I reckon we'll be able to give them a good game.

But this month is a toughy, easily our toughest month so far. If we come out if this still in the top 2 then I will start to honestly believe we're the real thing.

A very tough run of games, a real challenge and I can't wait to see how we get on. West Ham's line up does look quality on paper. We'll have a good sight of how our seasons going to pan out by the end of the month, few games there will be very different to bullying a dire Watford side at home.

Yes, there are 4 tricky games this month, BUT look at the fixtures in November and December.

6 Home games (where we can beat anyone) and 4 away games at sides in the bottom 6 (Coventry, Bristol, Donny & cheats). We could win all 10 of those games.

For me the defining period will be from mid Jan to mid March, where we have some difficult away games at grounds we have not played well at in the past e.g. forest, brum, whu, leeds etc.

This month will really show us whether we are the real deal or not IMO. Everybody is talking about how tough West Ham will be, but I think Boro will be harder. West Ham have shown already they are suspect at the back (heck, even the skates managed to put 3 past em!), whereas Boro appear to be very difficult to break down and score against, they have gone 5 consecutive games without conceding in the league!

I fancy us to win at Derby, their confidence should have taken a bit of a knock after getting thumped by Leicester. An early goal there and I think we'll be well on our way.

Reading don't seem up to much this season, only 3 wins so far and any team that has already lost at home to Barnsley & Watford this season are surely there for the taking.

8 points would be a great return, 2 wins and 2 draws.

Prediction wise, think i'll go with:

Derby 1-2 Saints

Saints 3-2 West Ham

Reading 0-2 Saints

Saints 1-1 Boro

Really hard month ahead - Reading are a bit of a bogey team for us - but as for Boro & West Ham not a worry. More concerned about Derby next week but we are extremely fit and if we are still in it with 15-mins to go we will win there.

My predictions:

Derby 1-2 Saints

Saints 3-0 West Ham

Reading 3-1 Saints

Saints 0-0 Middlesborough

Gives us 7 points, and keeps me smiling. Also think our second string will play against Palace so not too sure how that will turn out.
