theyin Posted 8 October, 2011 Share Posted 8 October, 2011 I just can't handle it. We're top of the league but there's hardly anything to be found about our magnificent team. NC's transfer policy of keeping everyone schtum, whilst admirable, is for the punter, damned frustrating, especially in an international break when we're all looking for at least a snippet of news of what's going on. It's come to the point where I don't even care if it's blatantly made up, I just want to read about us in the papers/online. Whilst every game and the aftermath is as exciting as we've experienced since the early/mid eighties, the inbetween time is as dull as ditch water. Anyone else feel the same? Lighthouse Posted 8 October, 2011 Share Posted 8 October, 2011 Why would anyone actually care how much is written about Saints in the papers? For me going to a game and reading people's opinions on here is sufficient. I can live without reading some badly informed half page article from a lazy journalist who probably wasn't even at the game and get's most of his material from websites like this anyway. Big_Bald_Si Posted 8 October, 2011 Share Posted 8 October, 2011 I'm happy we're not getting much of a mention. Until the media hypes us up, we're still underdogs doing very well. That's the way I like it. Expectation levels being low/neutral in the media keeps us grounded, and puts less pressure on the players

You should know by now that 'no news is good news'. Stop worrying, stroke the cat go buy yourself a Wispa and curl up with a good book. Even consider going for a walk in the countryside or along the beach. This way you'll get a more adult view of what life can offer and it's meaning and the sheer insignificance of football in the grand order of things. Alternatively, watch old videos of Saints successes until 2 am tonight and book yourself an appointment with a shrink first thing Monday morning. corsacar saint Posted 8 October, 2011 Share Posted 8 October, 2011 Its on the pitch that counts, not whats in the papers. After all what is written in the papers is only an opinion of the journalist appointed to watch our particular game.[Except for the echo, which is at present reported by a fellow Saints fan]. If the press do have an agenda against us,so be it,does it really matter.Lots of clubs are not liked by the press.

Two or three newspapers have done academy articles on us since preseason That BBC Blog, "The Adkins Diet" And there was that video interview with Adkins We don't need the papers telling us how good we are when we know it Absolutely, there has been loads on us recently. Won't stop the divs making out that the "BBC are against us" and "the media have an agenda against us" and all that guff. I always wonder how many of these people grizzling about newspapers and TV stations not giving coverage to "the championship" would read a two page interview with the manager of Coventry City, or watch a twenty minute profile about the Cardiff manager. I know I wouldn't. I'm not really bothered. Which is kinda why the Daily Mail and the Guardian aren't bothered either. So don't pretend you want more coverage of "the championship" when what you really want is just loads of stuff about Saints. Which is fair enough, but also utterly unrealistic. whelk Posted 9 October, 2011 Share Posted 9 October, 2011 pathetic - Guardian has reported most Saints games - Sugesst you get the app. Embarrassing the persecution complex that so many have - BBC have done plenty of pieces on Nigel and the success. Claridge doesnt hate us and the fact that we are not featured game on FL show is because we are one of 24 clubs Brighton had much coverage at start of season but the media had an angle with new ground etc. Every club appears to have the same issue with a number of fans who are so insecure they need to have their club mentioned above others all the time. Just ask Barry Blendenning!
qwertySFC Posted 9 October, 2011 Share Posted 9 October, 2011 Quite a simple reason why the press don't cover SFC - unfortunately we are not a big team that warrants such a mass media coverage - Some may think we are but the reality is no one outside our catchment area is that interested - It's not like we have Champions league news or in the top four of the premiership and until that happens or we sign Kaka it will always stay the same

Window Cleaner Posted 9 October, 2011 Share Posted 9 October, 2011 well I for one wish that we'd get a bit more noticed. L'Equipe TV does NPC live matches every weekend now but Saints still haven't been on yet, which I find amazing. I mean Derby-Saints next Saturday would seem to be the pick of the games. But no, it's f*cking Pompey again in a stunning match against f*cking Barnsley, followed on Sunday by Leicester-Birmingham. I don't know when they made the schedule of matches they screen out but they've shown some real rubbish so far, this must be Pompey's 3rd or 4th screening. So it's going to be a real treat for the viewers when they finally show one of our home matches. Hopefully they'll be a few games on Italian tv later in the year and then to just hope there isn't a more popular Italian game on so that the bar will show it. I'd second Whelk et al, there's been a fair bit available. I know we'd appreciate more but if you haven't seen what there is keep your eyes open a bit more. You want "rumours" in the media but at the same time you're grizzling about negativity and slagging off when someone "comes out with a snippet". Any rumour is going to get a proper going over on here, even when they are based in facts - we had weeks of pompous idiots saying "the papers make stuff up" when they dared to suggest Alex O-C might be leaving. So make your mind up - you either want rumours and the slagging off that entails, or you want a media blackout. You can't moan about both things. The9 Posted 11 October, 2011 Share Posted 11 October, 2011 I have to say I genuinely could not give a flying monkey's about how many times the media reports on Saints, and I find it significantly less irritating than people who complain about bizarre media conspiracies against the club, when the reality is that the majority of people don't give a crunchy frog about any club other than their own, and the media generally only cater to the clubs with the most fans. When we've won the Champions' League 3 years in a row and we don't get a mention in Match or our own FIFA16 cover, then there's a problem.
