georgeweahscousin Posted 7 October, 2011 Posted 7 October, 2011 He might have missed out on the player of the month award, but I and fans of Rochdale and Bristol Rovers pay tribute to the prolific striker here:- http://wp.me/p1mFFL-bA
Saint_clark Posted 7 October, 2011 Posted 7 October, 2011 Remember the Huddersfield chairman saying he wasn't value for money? LOL.
Raging Bull Posted 7 October, 2011 Posted 7 October, 2011 Moeny very well spent, just having his name on the team sheet gives defenders a headache.
Raging Bull Posted 7 October, 2011 Posted 7 October, 2011 Remember the Huddersfield chairman saying he wasn't value for money? LOL. Yeah and his celebration when he scored against them at SMS was to point at the name on his back. That'll learn them.
Thedelldays Posted 7 October, 2011 Posted 7 October, 2011 great article. lambert is a great great player
STEVEADAMS Posted 7 October, 2011 Posted 7 October, 2011 Has been a great signing for all involved and obviously benefitted from our team behind the scenes. What's more he looks totally at home, enjoying football and life at Southampton and seems like a thoroughly decent down to earth guy which endears him to the fans as well. Well done Rickie and Saints and long may it continue.
The9 Posted 7 October, 2011 Posted 7 October, 2011 (edited) 6 foot 1? He's actually about 6' 2" Rickie, Rickie... ...There's no apostrophe in "gets", he's not that tall so er, cool your jets, Rickie Lambert, still a bit slow, for me... Edited 7 October, 2011 by The9
saints_is_the_south Posted 7 October, 2011 Posted 7 October, 2011 £1m for a goal scorer of his calibre in this day and age is great business. Would love to see him banging them in, in the prem this time next year.

georgeweahscousin Posted 7 October, 2011 Author Posted 7 October, 2011 Matt Bates from Middlesbrough.
DanW Posted 7 October, 2011 Posted 7 October, 2011 Thanks for that - it was a good read and educational too. How much would Southampton fans require to sell him off? I'm not going to do the dumb and blind "he's priceless!" because that's not true. You'd sell him for 50 million for sure, which means he's not priceless. So if Alex Ox-Chamberlain is worth 12 million, I'd say that to the Saints right now... Rickie is probably worth about the same. Maybe 10 million. Anything higher and we should definitely take it.
skintsaint Posted 7 October, 2011 Posted 7 October, 2011 Rickie is probably worth about the same. Maybe 10 million. lol
peacey Posted 7 October, 2011 Posted 7 October, 2011 Promoting your site again i see Mr chris Rann........Very good read though fella, well done
captain sensible Posted 7 October, 2011 Posted 7 October, 2011 Noticed a rumour that Pardew will table a £5mill offer in January.
Saint_clark Posted 8 October, 2011 Posted 8 October, 2011 Reading through it again, i'd suggest you overuse the comma a little. But it's always an enjoyable read.

sammysaint Posted 9 October, 2011 Posted 9 October, 2011 Im a thinking with Lambert you know every pen is gonna be a goal and even if he doest score, he would of been involved in the the build up for a goal, and doing it in the championship this season is going to spark a few prem teams like NUFC to bid 4/5 mill for him and offer him prem and maybe uefa cup football, i think he would stay as we look good to make at least the playoffs.
Cabrone Posted 9 October, 2011 Posted 9 October, 2011 For me, Rickie jostles with Case, Killer, Deano and Niemi as one of our best signings of the last 30 years.
SuperSAINT Posted 9 October, 2011 Posted 9 October, 2011 He might have missed out on the player of the month award, but I and fans of Rochdale and Bristol Rovers pay tribute to the prolific striker here:- http://wp.me/p1mFFL-bA That was a good read, cheers for posting that. Remember the Huddersfield chairman saying he wasn't value for money? LOL. I do indeed! - I also remember a snippet from Pards at the time that Rickie wasn't the initial striker he targeted.
sidthesquid Posted 9 October, 2011 Posted 9 October, 2011 (edited) Reading through it again, i'd suggest you overuse the comma a little. But it's always an enjoyable read. As it's pedantry corner time, I'd suggest you overuse 'i' instead of 'I.' Edited 9 October, 2011 by sidthesquid beating the pedants to a spelling mistake
corsacar saint Posted 9 October, 2011 Posted 9 October, 2011 Rickie has been great for us,the club have been great for him.
Channon's Sideburns Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 I told you we should buy him...about a year before we did. Stroke of luck that happened in the end, but I was bloody right.
Fan The Flames Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 If you got 5 points for a Prem goal, 3 for Championship, 2 for League 1 and 1 for League 2. I would guess that Rickie would be top of a Points/£ table.
mesaint Posted 10 October, 2011 Posted 10 October, 2011 If OC is worth £12mil, then right now Rickie is worth £15mil. OC might make it but it was imho a gamble to pay that much for a boy who hadn't played outside of league 1. I know Rickie hadn't either until this season but he's been the league 1 top scorer for the past two seasons. Anyhow, we don't want to sell him so pardue can feck off.

Fine logic, the near 30 year old with no top level experience in 10 years of football and no resale value is clearly worth more than one of the country's brightest young stars who has already scored in the Champions League in one of his few appearances at that level and has a ton of untapped potential.
Macey_J2 Posted 12 October, 2011 Posted 12 October, 2011 Nice article Chris, an enjoyable read. But i'm in the "he stands at nearly 6 foot 3" camp!
