alpine_saint Posted 7 October, 2011 Share Posted 7 October, 2011 It can never be said enough - Thanks Markus Yep, he's deffo put us back on the footballing map. I keep thinking how tragic it is that he cannot see the table position and the smiles on the faces of the people of our town. Well, maybe he can, dont know. If heaven and hell exist, we can be pretty certain which one he is sitting in.

Alternately grinning like a Cheshire cat and then taking pictures of us all celebrating. I can't help thinking that he was thinking that it was money well spent. Wonderful. alpine_saint Posted 7 October, 2011 Share Posted 7 October, 2011 (edited) I wish he'd come along earlier... I moved back to Soton from Austria in autumn 2004. In May 2005 we were relegated. For me, something changed about the city then. We'd lost a major source of our pride, the city lost some its lustre. I finally came back to Austria from Soton because of a number of factors in spring 2008 (was the state of SFC one of the factors ? Possibly...). I have made a few visits since, the last was in August. Then, for the first time, even though the UK is an economic funk at the moment, I thought the city had got its bounce back. I might be a bit over-sensitive, but I think we have Markus (and NC) to thank for that. Edited 7 October, 2011 by alpine_saint

Golden Balls Posted 7 October, 2011 Share Posted 7 October, 2011 Such a shame he didn't get to see our promotion. I can just imagine the grin on his face, camera in hand as the crowd were on the pitch celebrating.
