Pompeyh8r Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 Its been a while since started a new post, but want to throw this one out there, to gauge saints fans opinions. It is well publicised that Capello is out the door by the end of the 2012 Euro's and it seems a distinct possibility that old bagpuss, is one of the, if not the favourite to take over the reigns of the 3 lions. A mate of mine asked me the other day how would I feel if Harry got the job, and I replied, whole heartedly, that I would hate it, I have little interest in the lack of passion shown by the current england team, but if he became manager, I would lose all interest. My mate accused me of being pathetic, but I told him as a Liverpool fan he wouldnt understand, how I feel, and maybe most other saints fans feel. So my question is, how as fellow saints fans, would you feel if he became manager. I cant stand the guy and everytime I see him on TV my blood boils, I'd rather Alan Pardew or big Sam got the job over that bloke.
The Kraken Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 Redknapp will not get the England job. He just won't. The press will talk him up for it because they know he has so many skeltons in the closet that they could bring out, it will give them sensationalist headlines (and the increased sales numbers that go with them) for his whole tenure.
Big_Bald_Si Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 Hate to say it - but I think he'd be a great England boss.
bognor regis pete Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 You're right every time i see him on the TV i have to turn off
CFSFC Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 Hate him but he also shat on the skates. Ive moved on and would forgive him if he won us the world cup and he's English. Still I hate him.
labibs Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 I think he is the clear front runner and is only his court case that could prevent him being given the job. I want him to be appointed to finally shut up all the people who moan about the England Manager needing to have passion and to 'understand the english way of playing (4-4-2, long ball, get stuck in...) etc. 'Arry will be appointed, he'll play all the 'triffic old boys (Lampard, Gerrard etc) and then when we get knocked out by the first decent side we play against (like we normally do) all of those arguments will fall by the wayside and we can properly look to restructure our national team set-up to make us competitive, much like Germany have done recently and are now reaping the benefits of.
stu0x Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 My mate accused me of being pathetic, but I told him as a Liverpool fan he wouldnt understand, how I feel, and maybe most other saints fans feel Ask him how he'd feel if Kelvin MacKenzie became Chief Exec at Anfield.
Foxstone Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 The media love him because he will always give them a quote ( The media loved Venables too for that reason), but like Venables there are too many "imponderables for embarrassment" for the FA to sit comfortably in the top job..
saint.tom.clancy Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 I think i'd really struggle to support England if Redc*nt became boss.
70's Mike Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 the FA would be broke within 12 minths, good at spending others money is Harry
Thedelldays Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 why why why do we in this country insist on having a very experienced club manager as national coach...and then paying them £££mmm to do it.. van basten, klinsmann, maradona, voller, pasarella etc have all jumped straight in... just give the job to beckham and let him get on with it
Prince Jazzbo Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 He wont be able to bring in loads of foreign loan players. So he'll **** up.
Kaiser Soze Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 I won't resy easy until he dies of an aids ridden death. Hopefully his wife Sandra and the rest of his family go the same way too.
CFSFC Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 I won't resy easy until he dies of an aids ridden death. Hopefully his wife Sandra and the rest of his family go the same way too. I hate his bulldogs. You only hate him cos he fronted you at hull and you bottled it
aintforever Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 He's a c*nt but I think he would make a good England boss.
alpine_saint Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 Redknapp and the England set up are made for each other...
Pompeyh8r Posted 6 October, 2011 Author Posted 6 October, 2011 I agree entirely, although it is a little embarassing we dont have a wealth of english managers ready to take the reigns, the next manager doesnt have to be English, the media portray this bulldog type leader who will take us to glories, but the last English Man was more famous for his brolly than his tactical knowledge and no passion. It has to be the right man, regardless of him having to be homegrown. Just couldn't stand it if he got HR got the job, but then again, England aren't my number one team, as long as we keep hold of our Nigel, cant see him going back to Sc##phorpe.
Wurzel Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 why why why do we in this country insist on having a very experienced club manager as national coach...and then paying them £££mmm to do it.. van basten, klinsmann, maradona, voller, pasarella etc have all jumped straight in... just give the job to beckham and let him get on with it That's always been my way of thinking Club and International management are two entirely different jobs (no day to day involvement, no transfers, etc) Pick a national manager BEFORE he has already become engrained with a club manager mentality .
Golden Balls Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 I can't help but think he will do an amazing job....or be the next Shteve. But would he be willing to bring through younger players with an attractive style of play? Like someone said, he would insist on playing Lampard, Gerrard, Lennon, Rio, Terry etc. I can see the attraction of going for someone like Beckham or Shearer. I would rather Harry didn't get the job as I will be stuck in 2 minds. I'd want England to succeed but I wouldn't want Harry to fail.
Saint dyer Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 He's a c*nt but I think he would make a good England boss. this
jayrivers Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 He's too old school. Too much of a dealer. I don't think he could do it with a set squad of players that he can't change and mould. He has one way of playing football and brings in players to do the job.
Kaiser Soze Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 I hate his bulldogs. You only hate him cos he fronted you at hull and you bottled it Ha, bottled it my a/se! He should count his blessings that there were stewards around to pull me back. By the way haven't got a f//king clue who you are! Based on Chandlers Ford ? hmmmm
Bearsy Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 Why do you lot hate Harry so much? I've always thought he was a dude, and don't blame him at all for the relegation or for ****ing off when he did.
scotty Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 Redknapp and the England set up are made for each other... Thats neatly put alps, and I agree. And fwiw I reckon the saggy jowled tw*t is already nailed on for the job when capello goes, myself.
skintsaint Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 the next England manager is going to be Mourinho...
um pahars Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 Not overly bothered about the England national team and not overly bothered about Redknapp. My only point would be that as others have mentioned I think it's the wring kind of job for him, no day to day involvement, no deals to be done, too much aggro from above. Stuart Pearce would be my outside bet.
ibizasaint Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 if (i know its a massive if) we won back to back promotions would eyes start looking our Nigel's way?- youngish, progressive English, manager, plays the right way.......
Saint Lindford Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 Stuart Pearce would be my shout as next England manager, he has been in the set up now for a while and has done a good job with U21's. Give him the job with maybe Beckham or Shearer in the set up as well. Lost interest in the England team after the debacle in South Africa and Rooney's outburst to the camera, if Redcrap got the job it would certainly not make me want to rush to Wembley.
The Cat Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 I couldn't support England if that **** was in charge. Mind you I haven't been to see them play for about 10 years so it's not like I really support them now anyway.
swannymere Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 why why why do we in this country insist on having a very experienced club manager as national coach...and then paying them £££mmm to do it.. van basten, klinsmann, maradona, voller, pasarella etc have all jumped straight in... just give the job to beckham and let him get on with it Thedelldays speaks sense shocker!
Fan The Flames Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 Why do you lot hate Harry so much? I've always thought he was a dude, and don't blame him at all for the relegation or for ****ing off when he did. This, I regard his part in our downfall as very minor, so I don't get all this hatred stuff. He has too much stuff in his past for the FA too handle.
jayrivers Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 I would agree with Stuart Pearce. They need to build a young team and get rid of the old timers who don't seem to want to be there. Pearce knows the youngters better than anyone! And also the opposition they will be facing in 5 years
Fan The Flames Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 Pearce, Shearer or Beckham will just be a continuation of the same old same old. The FA need to change tack completley and get someone in that is going to move things on a notch or two. So it will be Pearce, Shearer or Beckham then.
moonraker Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 Whilst my distaste for Saggy does not go as far as some, he is not the man for the job and as has been pointed out he is essentially a wheeler dealer money spender and those attributes are of little use as a national manager. Like others seeing him fail would bring some satsifaction.
Saint_Jonny Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 Hate to say it - but I think he'd be a great England boss. This.
skintsaint Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 Pearce wont take it..already said this a month or so back.
Raging Bull Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 Couldn't care less, let me watch saints any day.
Colinjb Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 He would do a good job.... not that I would care. The club before country argument would become a lot, lot more one sided should that loathesome individual become England manager.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 I cant help thinking he'd make a good England Manager. His whole style of management is suited to what I think is needed in an international manager. You just need to create an enviorment where players want to play. You dont need to look to the future (particulary at his age) and there's no need to coach players to become better.Whatever anyone says, players do appear to respect him and want to play for him, and most of the country would be behind him. The whole thing hangs on this court case, found not guilty and he's a shoe in. The FA have no morals now, gone are the days when they got rid of Venables because he was "dodgy". However dodgy Redknapp is (and they know he is) they'll hide behind "he was found innocent". To be honest with you, I couldn't care less whether he's made Manager or not, I stopped caring about England a long time ago..........
CFSFC Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 Ha, bottled it my a/se! He should count his blessings that there were stewards around to pull me back. By the way haven't got a f//king clue who you are! Based on Chandlers Ford ? hmmmm Came to see you in Swindon with colbury
Micky Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 I thought that Stuart Pearce was being 'groomed' to become the next man. However, I wonder if 'arry's 'old school' approach is now not flavour of the day with the FA, I think they may be looking for a more intellegent, forward thinking, progressively sports scientific orientated candidate. Now I wonder where you could find such a man?
gaz Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 He'd do terribly, as he wouldn't be able to buy 50 international players with the hope finding 11 good ones. He's crap at tactics, crap at man management and throws money at all his problems (not mentioning brown envelopes). On the plus side though, we could sing ''Harry's Got a Twitch''.....
The Kraken Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 I think I'd actually prefer Redknapp to Stuart Pearce. Can't see why Jose would ever want the gig. Wenger would be the ideal candidate IMO, although the press would absolutely slaughter him for even the tiniest of failures.
rooney Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 He'll be in prison by then anyway... He is still on bail after all.
labibs Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 IMO Pearce would be a terrible appointment. Our U-21 side still relies on strength and pace and being bigger than the other lads in order to get results and a large part of that is down to him.
saintpat Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 I couldn't support England if he was the coach. However it would be funny how all the skeletons would finally come tumbling out of the cupboard if he was appointed. Six months before he would be ruined
