Could be a great signing. Was very promising in his early days at Plymouth and Everton. Showed a lack of class in leaving Everton for Newcastle in the circumstances he did and has had an injury nightmare but he's an excellent player, member of the England Under 21 set up and capable of playing in a number of positions. Could be a good 6 month signing in my opinion.

Gosling has great potential. I think his versatility could be an asset as he can play at right back, centre mid and right mid. True, probably not a priority in terms of the positions he plays but surely worth a look if a player of his calibre is available?

Where are Doncaster getting money to pay these wages from? I read yesterday that as well as Gosling they were going to take Illunga and Piqueonne on loan from the Hammers.

And they signed Chimbonda a couple of days ago.

Check out number 7 on the list.

Its probably the same for fans of other clubs, wondering where Southampton get all their money from, until they see these rich lists and realise how wealthy the owners are.

I didn't even know he'd left Everton, wondered where he'd gone.

Stitched them up a treat in all honesty. He was offered a contract verbally but his current contract stipulated the contract offer needed to be backed up in writing by a certain date and it never was which meant his agent could start touting him around. Newcastle showed some interest and obviously offered him a better contract than he was getting at Everton so he left on a free! Because Everton poached him from Plymouth only a year earlier they couldnt get any compensation but it did stitch Plymouth up who had a hefty sell on clause in his agreement with Everton which was obviously negated the minute his contract expired.

Probably why TDD is so against signing him, given his soft spot for Argyle and their current predicament...

If he does go to Doncatraz, I can't help but feel a little bit sorry for Sean O'Driscoll. OK, fair enough that they're backing the new manager, but I'm sure he would have liked a bit of dough to spend in order to get them moving in the right direction?

Would be a waste of the wages. Where would he play? If we sign anyone (even on loan) I would expect it to be a striker or a centreback. We're well stocked in all other positions.

Agree about the O'Driscoll thing. He worked miracles to make that club competitive in the NPC on a shoestring. Then he has the legs taken from under him this season by losing Sharp in the first game of the season. Suddenly Saunders comes in and money is found for the likes of Chimbonda and Ilunga. Really hope O'Driscoll gets another NPC job and shows Doncaster what they are missing.

The question about SFC's finances was raised by fans of other clubs when SFC appeared to be making bids during the window, although no one else came in after Cork and Fox, partly funded by the sale of Gobern and with wages freed up by Gobern, Fish Mills and a couple of others moving out. Also, we still have the Oxlade-Chambertain money unspent. Not sure there is enough evidence there of any significant input by the wealthy owners to cause envy anywhere else.
