Doctoroncall Posted 5 October, 2011 Share Posted 5 October, 2011 HTTP 404 Page not found. Did they actually say the club was the 5th richest?
wardinho Posted 5 October, 2011 Share Posted 5 October, 2011 Was on SSN earlier. It's a list of the owner's wealth not how much money each club is worth. Still nice to see though!!
doddisalegend Posted 5 October, 2011 Share Posted 5 October, 2011 We're not though are we? Just becuase the owners have 3bn doesn't mean the club has.

Saint_clark Posted 5 October, 2011 Share Posted 5 October, 2011 3. Lakshmi Mittal £11.8bn QPR (Last year £17bn, 2nd) How on earth do you lose nearly £6billion in one year?
labibs Posted 5 October, 2011 Share Posted 5 October, 2011 Yep somewhat pointless stat. The owners could have a £100bn personal fortune, but if they don't put that money into the club, what does it mean? The guy at Spurs (lewis?) has been there for ages and has a couple of billion, but it's not like they have done a Man City is it?

Crazy Diamond Posted 5 October, 2011 Share Posted 5 October, 2011 Having worked at FourFourTwo, I can tell you there isn't an awful lot of science to this list and it's always inaccurate. I think Gary Parkinson, the FFT Online Editor, was on TV this morning talking about it. At 2am this morning he hadn't even finished it...

Third Division South Days Posted 5 October, 2011 Share Posted 5 October, 2011 Not sure the wealth figure re Southampton is very accurate. I thought ML's wealth was 3bn+. Report states we are now owned by the Leiber family whose combined wealth would be far in excess of 3bn.

VectisSaint Posted 5 October, 2011 Share Posted 5 October, 2011 http://fourfourtwo.com/lists/thefootballrichlist201112thefull100.aspx Marcus still worth £3bn Shame people still can't spell his name correctly, even having read an article where his name is mentioned and spelled out. stu0x Posted 5 October, 2011 Share Posted 5 October, 2011 Rich lists of any kind are pointless. They're based on wildly speculative conjecture. Even just accurately figuring out what these people are worth, if you had unrestricted access to their total assets (which the compilers of the list don't) would be ludicrously complicated. But more importantly these kind of people do not go about publishing their assets. Our owners in particular would be incredibly secretive about that sort of thing, it's the Swiss way of doing things. The fact that the authors of the list probably don't even know who our owners are (beyond 'Liebherr family', whatever that means) is case in point. Chez Posted 5 October, 2011 Share Posted 5 October, 2011 How on earth do you lose nearly £6billion in one year? the previous year they had three owners worth a combined £17bn, one sold his shares to one of the others, so now they have two owners worth a combined £11.8bn. spyinthesky Posted 5 October, 2011 Share Posted 5 October, 2011 But £3b is supposedly shared amongst the Liebherr family, not directly attributable to Marcus's side

Professor Posted 5 October, 2011 Share Posted 5 October, 2011 Does anyone actually understand why Cortese was willing to undertake a career change, and presumably to establish a base in another country and commute, and that he was eager enough to do this that he persuaded Marcus to put up the money to buy SFC? And question 2, what arguments convinced Marcus that it was something he wanted to do? Still can't see what it is that Marcus' family get out of the Southampton project, but perhaps the same reasons that Marcus accepted have been accepted by his heirs.
