Just seen Tom Bender of Accrington Stanley in JPT against tranmere has forced abandonment due to injury

What is worst injury seen on football pitch?

Can only think of john beresford & claus for saints in last 15 years that have proved to be career enders & Gordon Watson was it on debut for Bradford

Tahar was too soft on dyer of newcastle

Who was the Danish international who looked like he had 3 kneecaps in one of the European Championship matches in the early 90s ? Bleuuugh. Busst was still the worst though, washing blood off the pitch with a bucket ? Yuk.

I broke a keeper's hand with a shot once (he was only about a yard away from me at the time) and I've broken my nose in matches 6 times (gets a bit tedious after a while), but the worst injury I've seen in person was a leg break in a match for Southampton Uni at Reading Uni, happened about 5 yards from me and I heard it crack, couldn't really see anything and I got to come on as sub as a result... every cloud... :o

It was not a happy occasion when Bob Wilson broke Hughie Fisher's leg.

Cliff Huxford once broke a skate player's leg and it was only a testimonial.

Those are the 2 worst at the Dell

Mark Wright's broken leg when he was at Saints was pretty horrific. I think we were playing Liverpool in a semi final.

Heard it snap. It sounded like to broom handles being whacked together. Not nice :(

Heard it aswell as was right behind the goal, which was pretty grim for a 12 year old. But think I read somewhere it was the shinpad snapping that made the noise, not the bone.

Not football but.......when egg chaser Wayne Shelford ripped his ball sack (leaving his testicle hanging out) during a NZ - France game he simply went over to the touch line and stitched up his scrotum. He also lost 4 teeth at the same time (probably didn't even notice).

He then ran back on to the pitch to play the rest of the match (till he got knocked out in a head collision).

Legendary stuff

Henrick Larsson suffered a bad leg snap in his Celtic days, bit like Mark Wright's back in the 80's.

I still blame Craig Johnson for sliding in behind (ooh er!) Wright and forcing him into the oncoming Shilts and causing the break,Hence missing Mexico 86.

That was Henrik Andersen, playing LB in the semi final against The Netherlands in Euro92 in Sweden.

Worst I've seen in person was at Anfield, Jason McAteer breaking his leg right in front of me. Like others have mentioned about other injuries it was the sound more than what I saw that did it...
