paulwantsapint Posted 4 October, 2011 Posted 4 October, 2011 Just seen Tom Bender of Accrington Stanley in JPT against tranmere has forced abandonment due to injury What is worst injury seen on football pitch? Can only think of john beresford & claus for saints in last 15 years that have proved to be career enders & Gordon Watson was it on debut for Bradford Tahar was too soft on dyer of newcastle
SNSUN Posted 4 October, 2011 Posted 4 October, 2011 The photos of David Busst I think it was, made me gag. You could see the bone.
SNSUN Posted 4 October, 2011 Posted 4 October, 2011 http://injuryroom.footballunited.com/ OMG, just found this site! Check out THESE photos!!! (WHat I just wrote sounds like a dodgy email, but some cool photos nonetheless if you like being grossed out!)
The Cat Posted 4 October, 2011 Posted 4 October, 2011 All the players that have sadly died on the pitch have had the worst injuries.
Jimmy_D Posted 4 October, 2011 Posted 4 October, 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15176078.stm Think we unfortunately might be looking at a contender for worst injury tonight, apparently some reporter at the match tweeted that his neck was broken. Obviously that hasn't been confirmed yet, but all the best of luck to him in his recovery.
Jimmy_D Posted 4 October, 2011 Posted 4 October, 2011 According to SSN, he's had a scan and it's just concussion. Obviously still not great, but nothing compared to what it could have been.
hamster Posted 4 October, 2011 Posted 4 October, 2011 All the players that have sadly died on the pitch have had the worst injuries. As opposed to the non sad deaths?
Dellman Posted 4 October, 2011 Posted 4 October, 2011 Don't forget Bert Trautmann played on at Wembley after breaking his neck
St.Patrik Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 This is one of the worst....Look at the angle of the leg....Ouch
MongoNeil Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 http://injuryroom.footballunited.com/ OMG, just found this site! Check out THESE photos!!! (WHat I just wrote sounds like a dodgy email, but some cool photos nonetheless if you like being grossed out!) Why did I look at that while eating my breakfast?
Cestrian Saint Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 Mark Wright's broken leg when he was at Saints was pretty horrific. I think we were playing Liverpool in a semi final.
The9 Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 Who was the Danish international who looked like he had 3 kneecaps in one of the European Championship matches in the early 90s ? Bleuuugh. Busst was still the worst though, washing blood off the pitch with a bucket ? Yuk. I broke a keeper's hand with a shot once (he was only about a yard away from me at the time) and I've broken my nose in matches 6 times (gets a bit tedious after a while), but the worst injury I've seen in person was a leg break in a match for Southampton Uni at Reading Uni, happened about 5 yards from me and I heard it crack, couldn't really see anything and I got to come on as sub as a result... every cloud...
Stattmeister Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 Dani Rodrigues was pretty grotty if I remember correctly...
Tom & Gerry Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 It was not a happy occasion when Bob Wilson broke Hughie Fisher's leg. Cliff Huxford once broke a skate player's leg and it was only a testimonial. Those are the 2 worst at the Dell
Prince Jazzbo Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 Not real Football, but in American Football. I remember Joe Thiesmann from the Washington Redskins literally snapping his leg in two. That looked pretty grim. Its even been mentioned in the Simpsons when Homer watched a video called Worst Spotting Injuries or something like that. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/12/26/sports/football/26monday.html?pagewanted=all
Wurzel Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 Mark Wright's broken leg when he was at Saints was pretty horrific. I think we were playing Liverpool in a semi final. Heard it snap. It sounded like to broom handles being whacked together. Not nice
The Farmer Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 Heard it snap. It sounded like to broom handles being whacked together. Not nice Heard it aswell as was right behind the goal, which was pretty grim for a 12 year old. But think I read somewhere it was the shinpad snapping that made the noise, not the bone.
Colbury Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 Luc Nillis for villa. Never played again after a horrific leg break if I remember rightly.
BARCELONASAINT Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 Talking of worst player injuries, take a read and look at this:- http://may-cause-offence.tumblr.com/post/11060994352/head-shoulders-knees-and-toes
Cabrone Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 Not football but.......when egg chaser Wayne Shelford ripped his ball sack (leaving his testicle hanging out) during a NZ - France game he simply went over to the touch line and stitched up his scrotum. He also lost 4 teeth at the same time (probably didn't even notice). He then ran back on to the pitch to play the rest of the match (till he got knocked out in a head collision). Legendary stuff Link.
Monk Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 Anyone see the photo taken after Brightons Adam El-Abd got ripped open at S.t Mary's??
egg Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 Anyone see the photo taken after Brightons Adam El-Abd got ripped open at S.t Mary's?? http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=adam+el-abd+injury&hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&hs=cjD&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&biw=1280&bih=878&tbm=isch&tbnid=MjlHVFjLRzJrlM:&imgrefurl=http://www.footballforums.net/forums/showthread.php/268354-El-Abd-s-injury-%28Mod-Warning-Image-not-for-faint-hearted%29&docid=k1OBMBr5BHwN5M&w=915&h=686&ei=sbOMTsi4MoGw8QPo7aTbCg&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=633&vpy=338&dur=7197&hovh=194&hovw=259&tx=138&ty=120&page=1&tbnh=156&tbnw=208&start=0&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:17,s:0
St.Jeweller Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 Henrick Larsson suffered a bad leg snap in his Celtic days, bit like Mark Wright's back in the 80's. I still blame Craig Johnson for sliding in behind (ooh er!) Wright and forcing him into the oncoming Shilts and causing the break,Hence missing Mexico 86.
Danish Saint Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 Who was the Danish international who looked like he had 3 kneecaps in one of the European Championship matches in the early 90s ? Bleuuugh. That was Henrik Andersen, playing LB in the semi final against The Netherlands in Euro92 in Sweden.
dan17 Posted 5 October, 2011 Posted 5 October, 2011 http://injuryroom.footballunited.com/ OMG, just found this site! Check out THESE photos!!! (WHat I just wrote sounds like a dodgy email, but some cool photos nonetheless if you like being grossed out!) Oh my word!! That one with the two footed tackle.....Jesus wept!
Saint137 Posted 6 October, 2011 Posted 6 October, 2011 Worst I've seen in person was at Anfield, Jason McAteer breaking his leg right in front of me. Like others have mentioned about other injuries it was the sound more than what I saw that did it...
Dog Posted 14 October, 2011 Posted 14 October, 2011 I know it's not soccerball but this happened yesterday and it looks pretty sore. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=afc_1318522342
