stevegrant Posted 3 October, 2011 Share Posted 3 October, 2011 To be fair, I don't think there are many who have ever doubted Wigley's ability as a coach. It was just as a manager that he was proven to be utterly inept
Appy Posted 3 October, 2011 Share Posted 3 October, 2011 http://www.bcfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10327~2471147,00.html At least he gave us our last win against the Blue Few in the league.
sadoldgit Posted 3 October, 2011 Share Posted 3 October, 2011 He may not have cut it as a a manager but is a decent coach.

Dark Munster Posted 3 October, 2011 Share Posted 3 October, 2011 Bloody hell you wouldnt seriously employ him or Stuart Gray would you ? Talk about the kiss of death.......your numbers up soon Mr Cotterill :-) A dream team for Cheats FC after Stevie-boy gets the boot: Wigley the manager, with Gray as his assistant. Or the other way around. I'm not fussy.
SuperMikey Posted 3 October, 2011 Share Posted 3 October, 2011 David James to be joint Manager with A.N. OTHER. Heard it here first.
paulwantsapint Posted 3 October, 2011 Share Posted 3 October, 2011 Both wigley & gray were good coaches & good assistants but that was their biggest problem they needed a manager to mange while they coached
um pahars Posted 3 October, 2011 Share Posted 3 October, 2011 Just wait until Wigley is downstairs telling the press he has the job, whilst the Chairman is upstairs saying nothing has been decided!!!!!! Very good coach, just not cut out to be the Gaffer. I think he knows his limitations.

sotonian Posted 3 October, 2011 Share Posted 3 October, 2011 Went to Bristol for a stag weekend a couPle of weeks ago, went to see Bristol city play hull, really not a happy place, reminded me of our championship relegation year, the crowd were all arguing with each other, players were being slated for any minor mistake, they are a very poor side, as for Maynard, so glad we didn't sign him, he is like a lazier version of raziak !! The biggest cheer of the day from the Bristol fans was when maynard 's number was held up for him to be subbed, there fans hate him, it was not hard to see why

RobM Posted 3 October, 2011 Share Posted 3 October, 2011 NO the man who appointed them out of their depths did that Can't disagree with that. Common sense tells you that a good coach doesn't necessarily make a good manager, they are very different roles. You can't blame them for taking the roles - who wouldn't want to better their career? But the idiot who put them in charge should have known better.
um pahars Posted 3 October, 2011 Share Posted 3 October, 2011 You can't blame them for taking the roles - who wouldn't want to better their career? Thing was that when Strachan left in the Spring, Wigley was adamant he didn't want the job, it was as if he realised his own limitations. Come August for some reason he was up for the job. Nightmare start to that fateful relegation season. Oh the memories!!!!!!!

Call my cynical, but I'd imagine some sweet talking and money was behind that. All the more reason to blame those that made the decision - why invest all that time into somebody with no experience who says they don't want the job? trousers Posted 4 October, 2011 Share Posted 4 October, 2011 David James to be joint Manager with A.N. OTHER. Heard it here first. Does that mean the monkey chicken petting zoo is finally happening? I heard that on here first too, so it must be true... ;-)
rooney Posted 4 October, 2011 Share Posted 4 October, 2011 I can remember Wigley taking off Anders Svenson at Craven Cottage when he was playing out of his skin. This gave rise to a chorus of "you don't know what your doing" from our travelling fans and by then, the end was near for him at SMS.
SaintRobbie Posted 4 October, 2011 Share Posted 4 October, 2011 http://www.bcfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10327~2471147,00.html LOL! I like your irony!
Fan The Flames Posted 4 October, 2011 Share Posted 4 October, 2011 I remember at Charlton away people singing "Steven Wigly's red and white army", commendable but totally misguided in my opinion.

All the more reason to blame those that made the decision - why invest all that time into somebody with no experience who says they don't want the job? I'm with you on that one, in that I'm sure our sweet talking Chairman of the time somehow convinced Wigley he would be right for the job, despite him not really wanting it. Watford away was the worst game for me under Wigley. Being stuffed by a team a division below us and we had a pretty decent team out that night (we could afford to have Crouch on the bench). When you see what a decent manager can do with a squad (i.e. Adkins), then that was an example of what a sh11te one can do!!!
