chocco boxo Posted 3 October, 2011 Share Posted 3 October, 2011 Without wanting to sound arrogant, do you think that now we are in the ascendancy over out pitiful neighbours that we will continue to be for many years to come. Even say till the youngest member of this forum has long departed this earth? 2005 seems ages away now and the fact we have the money, the fans, the facilities and the players, surely we have already come for them! I suppose history repeats itself and the forthcoming generation of Saints fans will have to put up with their FA Cup win in 200? like we had to their post war title? Anyway so nice to have normal service resumed and the "not so noisy" neighbours put to bed!
alpine_saint Posted 3 October, 2011 Share Posted 3 October, 2011 Our superiority to them means jack sh*t until we've beaten them at least 4-1 at Krap Nottarf. That 2005 defeat on our way to relegation still hurts. Until then it's all on paper. As for the longer ramifications, you dont know what is round the corner, so I am just going to savour that moment when it happens.
JRM Posted 3 October, 2011 Share Posted 3 October, 2011 As a general lesson in life i would say it is never a good quality in a person to be smug, you never know what lies around the corner. Enjoy it by all means, but without the smugness. I was at Waterloo after they won the semi final v Spurs at Wembley and saw the joy and celebrations of their fans getting to their 2nd cup final in 3 years, we have a bit still do to before feeling so superior, perhaps if we go up this year and they go down and get a two division gap again. Totally disagree beating them by any score is all that counts. the 84 and 76 wins at Fratton were 1nil with goals in both in the last few minutes THAT is inflicting real pain by the time the 4th went in during the relegation season we were all to numb to care what they were chanting
Jack Posted 3 October, 2011 Share Posted 3 October, 2011 Skates round my way are a lot quieter these days. Crawled back into whatever holes they came out of after they got promoted. JCL *****s. I would love it, LOVE IT, if we smashed them home and away on the way to a successful season, and helping them into more trouble. That Amarillo song still haunts me and I can't wait for revenge

Jeff Le Taxi Posted 4 October, 2011 Share Posted 4 October, 2011 PS. I'd happily get stuffed by them twice if we can have the league title. I'd happily stuff them twice and forego the league title (if we came second)!
niceandfriendly Posted 5 October, 2011 Share Posted 5 October, 2011 Lol at how badly some people took the amarillo song. I was there that day, it was ****, but if the whole of the Northam replied with something similar after we detroy them at SMS this season, nothing would be funnier. Lord Duckhunter Posted 5 October, 2011 Share Posted 5 October, 2011 The 4-1 away was the most spineless performance I've ever seen, a bloody disgrace. That said, I wouldn't swap that with the pain they suffered for all those years. I was into my 40's before I saw them finish above us, even once. That really is going some and sent loads of 40/50 something Skates into therapy...........
Thedelldays Posted 5 October, 2011 Share Posted 5 October, 2011 wouldnt it be grand if at sms, we beat them, pretty much sent them down and with everyone singing the amarillo song to them...
Wes Tender Posted 5 October, 2011 Share Posted 5 October, 2011 The 4-1 away was the most spineless performance I've ever seen, a bloody disgrace. That really is going some and sent loads of 40/50 something Skates into therapy........... I agree that watching the gutless performance that day was one of the worst days of my footballing life and nearly everybody who played in the red and white that day should be ashamed at their disgraceful display. When they beat us here in the Cup, there were excuses, like them being in the Premiership and us in the third, them having the England goalkeeper making saves that kept them in it. I was proud of our players that day and recognised also that the Skates through cheating had secured the services of players that shouldn't have been there, as they couldn't afford them. One thing is almost certain though about the forthcoming two matches that we will play against them this year; this is not a team of quitters. This is not a team that does not have pride and commitment. This is a team of fighters, of leaders, of professionals who give their all and who don't know when they are beaten. The best conclusion this season would be two wins for us, the home win sending them down whilst we are promoted. There is little chance of them catching us up within several years with the owners they have and the cost required to gain them the facilities that would assist their rise again. Jack Posted 5 October, 2011 Share Posted 5 October, 2011 No ****ing way would I ever think about singing the Amarillo song back at them. Would be too embarrassing. If they are near to relegation at that point in the season, I'd love to see the return of the "going down with no money in the bank" song, reworded somehow to make sense. And maybe with another verse: "saints are going up with a billion in the bank", then back to "going down....etc..etc" Until they are throwing up onto their TK Maxx shoes
