Johnny Bognor Posted 3 October, 2011 Share Posted 3 October, 2011 (edited) Common sense IMHO and I notice that Maude, in the same breath as saying that savings paid the £1billion needed for bin collections and not increasing council tax, said they couldn't cut employers NI as we have to pay off the deficit. Idiots the lot of them. Indeed and Maude is one of the more sens ible ones. The lack of common sense on both sides is staggering. I would also like to see tax breaks on companies that export, to encourage more exports. This would help the manufacturing sector and help to create real jobs. It seems as though neither side really wants to get the economy going. Edited 3 October, 2011 by Johnny Bognor

um pahars Posted 4 October, 2011 Share Posted 4 October, 2011 Anyone seen anything on Theresa May's ridiculous cat story... that someone was not deported due to the fact they owned a cat. It turns out it was made up. She is utterly incompetent. I said as much on the other thread. This was not from some Local Councillor or some old biddy Party Member going off on one, but by the Home Secretary who is charge of such a sensitive area. If she's going to lie in order to pander to the xenophobic right wing of this country, then I'm afraid she's in the wrong job. It's an area that needs an honest, sensible and rational debate, but I'm afraid her lies and mischief making are worthy of contempt.

Saintandy666 Posted 4 October, 2011 Share Posted 4 October, 2011 I respectfully disagree. The article and headline quite clearly concentrate on the disputed nature of the story. I disagree with this because no-where in the headline does it state it is false. And nowhere in the article does it slam it down as false. It leaves an air of 'truthfulness' about it, seen reflected in the comments section. A better headline would be 'May cat claim false'.

Lord Duckhunter Posted 5 October, 2011 Share Posted 5 October, 2011 all good sound bites - will they translate into decent policies? Exactly, he's a modern day Ted Heath. He's basically bought into the present Political Consensus. Nothing radical here, just an extension of Blair's free market approach to schools and hospitals and a slightly tighter squeeze than Labour would have given us. We're still letting too many prisoners out early, letting too many people in, ignoring too many crimes, letting Europe tell us what to do, taxing the people too heavily, over burdening business with too much red tape and spending too much money on welfare and hand outs for people who dont deserve it. As another Saint said, all soundbites, playing to the "Daily Mail" gallery and nothing really substantive in that lot. I'm just struggling with the lack of leadership and in particular the vision of growth, the vision of what UK should look like (inc stuff you have mentioned) and how we're going to achieve it. It's easy to knock stuff (and cut stuff) and get applause for bashing the obvious right wing pet hates, but where's the vision?? Perhaps yours were delivered to you by the BBC, or a work collague, or a member of your family, I dont know and I dont really care, they count as much as any member's of the "great unwashed" do. Why do you assume that any right wing opinions are "delivered" to people, but your "right on Leftie views" are a result of your highly intelligent mind and formed by principles?
