McLaren Resigns

Legod Third Coming

Who rates him?!

He's not as bad as made out. Stupid to take forest though, as if he didn't research it. Ok at boro, seemed to slip near the end though. England was a mess. Started well looking like he'd use his own style, forget the likes of beckham as he was slowing the team down, but then he bottled it and went back to the same old rubbish. It was a tougher qualifying group than Sven had that's for sure. And despite being rubbish, if he'd beaten Croatia and qualified, I'm sure we wouldn't have put in a worse tournament display than Cappello. Not sure anyone would have.

Amazing job at twente anyway, no denying that, and really not given time at Wolfsburg. Wouldn't be surprised to see him back in holland.

I don't much like him, but it sums up the stupidity of many England fans and especially the media. They simply wanted him to fail, they loved all the umbrella stuff, jokes about his appearance etc. Bad or not I don't think he stood a chance.

I disagree, getting to the quarter finals is good for England. Only one manager in the history of football has done any better on foreign soil.

The problem is most England fans can't accept how sh!t our players are.

I thought it was interesting that the fans were calling for the Board to resign as the Chairman apparently injects £11m of his own money to keep the Club going now totalling £60m. Ok have a go at the guy for sacking Davis and appointing Brolly boy but £11m a year permits you to make a cock up or two. They do not own their ground either apparently so I do not know howthey lose £11m a year

Two words - players' wages.

I hate this. I'm no England fan but if you think he got the best out of those players I'm amazed. He took a kid to the world cup he admitted he had no intention of playing. The failures of previous or future teams has no baring on his time in charge, yet people always let it affect their outlook. Never said he should win it, get to any stage in particular, just get the best out the team and slowly improve. He made England caps worthless the rate he dished them out, showed zero passion and made utterly bizarre selections. If we hadn't stuffed Germany he'd have gone sooner, he lived off that for years. Qualifying from easy groups is only seen as achievement because Taylor and mclaren ballsed it up, but again, it's irrelevant to a different manager at a different time. Besides, needing a last minute equaliser at home to greece isn't so different to needing a win at home to Croatia. Very fine lines. Be kham came through for Sven and Carson messed up for mclaren.

I dislike him mainly because he's a mercenary. There's nowhere he wouldn't go for the money. Doing well in Italy 20 years ago doesn't really cut it for me. Notts county, Mexico? Utter mess. Mexico seemed to improve without him.

IMO Leicester will fail because they won't find consistency. I've not seen any Sven team find it. They'll have some form but if they lose the playoffs it'll be another sacking and big payoff, and on to another job.

He reminds me of burley in some ways.

That's not good, with McClaren in charge they were hobbled but with someone decent they might just provide strong competition.

How McClaren has managed to get the jobs he has amazes me, he is absolute pants.

Thats a little harsh, he isn't that bad. Do bear in mind he lost 9 players and wasn't aloud to sign who he wanted.

I don't know whether the media were in for McClaren, but holding that brolly was a ****in disgrace. Two days after getting the England job and getting paid £2m a year he set up a company to protect his image rights, to maximise his earnings. For the Croatia game the rain was heavy and his advisor told him not to get his comb over wet, as the image of him loosing the game and standing there with his comb over drooping down his face would kill the value of his image. So instead of standing on the side line not giving a **** about the rain and giving it all for England he was worried about his earnings and stood there with that brolly. So for me Im glad he has failed at Forest.

Sven Goran Eriksson is actually a VERY good manager. England were just overrated during his tenure.

McClaren is very hit and miss though. He has done alright abroad on occasion. Did well at Middlesbrough, not so well at England and Nottingham Forest.

Anyone who doubts Eriksson's ability as manager should take a breath and look him up on Wikipedia.

His successes with European clubs, and Italy in particular are almost second to none.

Apart from those deadly games in the World Cup, he had a V.G. record as manager, and the majority of the lost games were " friendlies " where he tried out 18 players in the same match in an effort to test players and find new systems /combinations and those chosen weren't up to it.

His distasteful dismissal was (IMHO) the result of the double-standards applied by the F.A., and their knee jerk reaction to the "over-publicised " revelations about his private life from a media gang determined to get him out and employ an ENGLISH MANAGER..(pause for a chorus of God Save the Queen)..and in the end they got one ....STEVE McCLAREN.

Eriksson is still a very good manager, as will be proved - if Leicester are patient enough with him - though I do think that he has taken a lot on board in signing TEN new players and starting from scratch again and is struggling to get players on the same wavelength..something that NA has already succeeded with.

I expect to see Leicester in the play-offs come April.

He (McClaren) is without doubt a very overrated manager.

Thanks Steve, for subbing Miller against us and handing the game to us on a plate. Absolutely useless.

He did nothing outstanding at Middlesbrough except to further the career of Stewart Downing (IMHO also a very over-rated player) and qualified himself for the England managership only because of his previous association with Sven-Göran Eriksson,

from whom he seems to have learned very little when he took over the mantle of England manager, and produced some of the worst results of any England boss in history !.

That is pretty damning if true. He wasn't helped by certain players in that game either. Particularly John 'I would walk through walls for my country' Terry, who sat the game out apparently injured, was caught laughing on the bench when we were losing, and miraculously recovered 3 days later to turn out for Chelsea.

The apparent general lack of interest in playing for your country coupled with a corrupt FIFA tells me that international football has had its day. Players are more interested in money, managers more interested in money, and FIFA officials more interested in bungs.

Erm... didn't he win the League Cup (their first ever trophy) and take them to the final of the UEFA?
