dannysfc Posted 29 September, 2011 Posted 29 September, 2011 I was at the game last night and was stood up not far from the back and there were some of our "fans" behind me who started to be Racist and started to say when one of our players who had the ball and that when Guly was on the pitch and one of the "fans" said: "Pass it to that Monkey there" referring Guly to a Monkey which I thought was absolutely Outrageous and that I wanted to say something to him but I didn't know what reaction I'd get if I had said something!?! And I thought that we had stamped out the Racism at our club but some "fans" think that it's funny to carry on being Racist so am just wanting to see what people's thoughts are!?! Apart from that I thought the actual game was OK even though we lost as we're still Top Of The League as Middlesborough dropped points last night which was Good! Thanks! COYR !!!
Dig Dig Posted 29 September, 2011 Posted 29 September, 2011 You should have given them a really bad chinese burn. That would have taught them a lesson. Thinking about it, wasn't Dune there last night.....?
dune Posted 29 September, 2011 Posted 29 September, 2011 I was stood at the back and never heard anything.
Dr Who? Posted 29 September, 2011 Posted 29 September, 2011 Terrible and needs to be kicked out of the game completely!! To be fair I would not have said anything, as it is really hard to do so no matter how much it makes me cringe when I hear it, I do not want to get my head kicked in!!
Dr Who? Posted 29 September, 2011 Posted 29 September, 2011 Oh and in my opinion society is taking a step backwards to the 80's on so many levels.....I blame the...
Lighthouse Posted 29 September, 2011 Posted 29 September, 2011 So if I have this right, one Saints fan has made a racist slur against a player. I agree he's a complete c**t for saying it, but that's hardly endemic of Saints fans in general. If you get 20,000 people in one place, you will invariably get a couple of kn*bbers in there, just report them to the stewards.
Bearsy Posted 29 September, 2011 Posted 29 September, 2011 one of the "fans" said: "Pass it to that Monkey there" referring Guly to a Monkey which I thought was absolutely Outrageous I was just sending a banana along the row to my pet chimp. I wondered why you gave me such a Look!

St Lej Posted 29 September, 2011 Posted 29 September, 2011 I also never heard a thing and was a back. The OP is also someone who was apparently at the burnley game and who thought we were 1-0 down at half time! Something not quite right here

Turkish Posted 29 September, 2011 Posted 29 September, 2011 I was there, it was me and I think you missed heard me. I was actually saying "pass it to manly" I am gay to you see and partial to well built, athletic men like a lot of my type are. I hope you are not being homophobic Dannysfc, there is no place for it in the modern game an out of order IMO
dune Posted 29 September, 2011 Posted 29 September, 2011 I heard 29,000 people singing a song about caravans at a game once. Shocking.
Huntingdon Posted 29 September, 2011 Posted 29 September, 2011 That's bad, but now you mention it, we do have a very 'White' squad
Badger Posted 29 September, 2011 Posted 29 September, 2011 That's bad, but now you mention it, we do have a very 'White' squad Probably a bit low on the ginger count as well to be honest. I hope we don't get a points deduction at the end of the year.
pap Posted 29 September, 2011 Posted 29 September, 2011 I have to ask. Are you surprised? If my experience on this forum has taught me anything, it's that the only thing that unites the various vagabonds who post here is a fondness for a certain football team. Do they all lean to one political side or another? No. Do they believe the same things? No. Whilst I personally abhor racism in any form, it would be unrealistic for me to expect people to agree with the same things I do just because they follow the same team. Challenge it if you're brave enough, live with it if you're not, but don't expect people to hold comparable social views just because they happen to support the same team as you do.
Turkish Posted 29 September, 2011 Posted 29 September, 2011 Probably a bit low on the ginger count as well to be honest. I hope we don't get a points deduction at the end of the year. We could with a woman and a disabled person as well to fulfil all our quotas.
Graffito Posted 29 September, 2011 Posted 29 September, 2011 Danny, if you insist on taking the ****, stay off important issues. COYR! Thanks !!!
The Cat Posted 29 September, 2011 Posted 29 September, 2011 The people that stood at the back and say they didn't hear anything were probably nowhere near Danny. We had almost 2000 there, the back is quite long. Like every club Saints has a small minority of people who hold unpopular views on race. Sometimes you'll hear these people, sometimes you won't. At West Brom away one year (Premiership game we lost 1-0 due to some inept goalkeeping from Paul Jones) there was a middle aged bloke in front of us being pretty out of order to Jason Roberts. Me and my mate asked him to stop because it was clear there were kids near us who were looking a bit scared. When we asked him why he wasn't abusing Paul Williams (the only black player in our XI) he said, "it's because he's our n*****".
dune Posted 29 September, 2011 Posted 29 September, 2011 I remember reading an article about a reporter from the New Nation reporting "sieg heil" chants at Millwall. It turned out that Millwall were playing Brighton and the chant was actually Brighton fans singing "seagulls".

Going on about how racist Millwall fans were with one large section of the crowd constantly singing siel Heil, it was the away section singing seagulls. There was an article in the London Evening Standard after the England V wales game where the journo condemns fans using giant foam hands for giving the thumbs down to the Welsh national anthem. Is the giant foam hand about to become a symbol for racism in the UK? I can see the EDL issuing them at marches to give thumbs down gestures to local Muslims.

In that case, I for one will not be watching it.....
Huntingdon Posted 30 September, 2011 Posted 30 September, 2011 Is it the same fans who chanted 'Shoebomber' at Mido at SMS?
Turkish Posted 30 September, 2011 Posted 30 September, 2011 It has been for a while. Don't you remember all those kids in the audience of Gladiators with their big foam hands pointing down everytime one of the black Gladiators came out? Shameful. I often remember Saracen being the subject of abuse and many thumbs down. Although more shocking was the treatment of Wolf, despite being white he was a figure of hate for his foreign appearance, the long hair made him look like an Eastern European, ironically the kids of then are the adults of today and blame Eastern Europeans for the lack of jobs in the UK. Surely the things are linked? It is no surprise racist groups pick up on things like giant foam hands to spread their message of hate. Who would have thought cuddly toys like the gollywog, or the black man on the from on jam jars would be banned back in the 70's and be considered racist? I think the giant foam hand should be banned now before the hate filled message spreads. Kids need to know giving the thumbs down to anyone is hate filled and in many cases racist.

Do they have to be white or pink hands what about black or yellow ones? next you will say I cant have a black russian in the pub can i go out for a chinky or does it have to be called an Asian meal you all need to get a perspective on real life and not keep pandering to the PC lilly livered liberals in that country that you live in.
Saint Stimp Posted 30 September, 2011 Posted 30 September, 2011 You'll always get some individual morons. A while back I had the voice of what I thought was a small boy in my ear complaining about the ref being 'probably one of them Muslims or something'. I was sat next to my mate and his dad, both of whom are Iranian... At half time, I turned around to find it was a woman in her mid 20's with two kids. She continued to spout through the second half, even nudging my friend's dad at one point, saying 'this ref's an idiot, probably Muslamic right!?'

Sorry, you may not like it but if they are being used to give thumbs down gestures to other nations then what is to stop the EDL or BNP using them to so the same on thier marches? I can see thousands of EDL marching through Bradford, Oldham etc with the EDL chanting "get them out" whilst using the foam hand to give the LOCAL mulsims the thumbs down. Is that the sort of behaviour you find acceptable or what to see? It's not a giant leap for this to happen, they are already being used inside football stadia to give the thumbs down to other nations national anthems and we all know football reflects society. It needs to be nipped in the bud and the only way to make a statement about this is to ban the giant foam hand immediately.
PhilippineSaint Posted 30 September, 2011 Posted 30 September, 2011 Sorry, you may not like it but if they are being used to give thumbs down gestures to other nations then what is to stop the EDL or BNP using them to so the same on thier marches? You are absolutely off your trolley do you really think that the EDL or BNP will all go out and buy large foam hands and march through Bradford. next you will tell me they will be purchasing White Lips and Michael Jackson wigs, it will be the biggest black and white minstrel march in the UK.
Wurzel Posted 30 September, 2011 Posted 30 September, 2011 Unfortunately this is a disease that permeates all of society. I blame Murdoch. Only this morning I heard Sky advertising a channel called At the Racists, they said they would be hearing from Newton Abbo, Win*****on and the Market Asian.

Why wouldnt they? It is already being used to give negative gestures, this is only the next step. Racist groups will pick up on anything to spread their message, if the giant foam hand is considered negative, which it appears to be, towards other nations then i could easily see them adopting this at the marches. It would certainly get their message across dont you agree? 1,000 EDL members marching, with giant white foam hands, giving thumbs down gestures to the muslims whist chanting anti muslim songs.

dune Posted 30 September, 2011 Posted 30 September, 2011 Guly is like marmite for me, i love and hate him all in the same game! But how does Guly start every away game??! i love that we play attacking football and with that we leave our full backs ( one of whom fox is pretty poor defensivley)at times somewhat exposed but Guly doesnt even pretend to get back into position and when we arnt firing on all cylinders going forward it allows teams to get in so many easy balls into our box.... please play de ridder against Watford
Pilsmer Posted 30 September, 2011 Posted 30 September, 2011 You should have given them a really bad chinese burn. That would have taught them a lesson. Thinking about it, wasn't Dune there last night.....? Racist. Its a common misconception that this is the preferred playground torture of the Chinese. They much prefer wet willies, petrol pumps and goosenecks.
so22saint Posted 30 September, 2011 Posted 30 September, 2011 I was at the Dell years ago when they held a reserve game there and some geezer (I'd seen him at loads of away matches and he'd seemed ok) starting giving the monkey noises to one of our own players. I challenged him, he said it was a joke, I said it was ****ing stupid and illegal, and he shut the **** up. Simples. Helps that I'm not the worlds smallest bloke probably, but I'm also soft as ****e.
The9 Posted 30 September, 2011 Posted 30 September, 2011 Is it the same fans who chanted 'Shoebomber' at Mido at SMS? We've had that argument before, Mido actually does look like the shoebomber bloke (Richard Reid, was it?) so it wasn't actually racist, it was in fact just a tongue in cheek comparison. Though admittedly it came from the back of the Northam, so I'm probably giving it more thought than they did.
The9 Posted 30 September, 2011 Posted 30 September, 2011 Also, I think a couple of "whooshes" are needed for PhillippineSaint here. It's the muslamics dressed as Honey Monsters I'm worried about. Is a honey monster a bear ? Seriously though, you'd think even the mongs would have the sense to keep their racist opinions to themselves, but apparently if you're that thick, you're THAT thick.

Draino76 Posted 30 September, 2011 Posted 30 September, 2011 Maybe he was refering to Guly as a 'cheeky monkey'; because he can be. The guy didn't make 'monkey noises' as well did he? To be honest, if he didn't accompany his 'monkey' comment with 'monkey noises' and throw a banana; I would assume he was refering to Guly as a bit of a scamp.
Block 5 Posted 30 September, 2011 Posted 30 September, 2011 I would've stabbed the racist c**t in the eye.
SuperMikey Posted 30 September, 2011 Posted 30 September, 2011 When we played Man City at SMS a while back, two blokes behind me (must have been comedians) hummed the bridge in the song 'Turning Japanese' by The Vapors every time Sun Ji-Hai touched the ball. Every time. For 90 f*cking minutes. They thought they were being hilarious, but I took solace in the fact that they were inaccurate, because he's actually Chinese. The fools.

jjsaint Posted 30 September, 2011 Posted 30 September, 2011 Noticed a similar sort of thing at Leicester, directed toward Neil Danns. I'd hate to see the club get fined because of a few people who are out of order.
Macey_J2 Posted 30 September, 2011 Posted 30 September, 2011 I do find it a surprise to hear that sort of insult tbh. I've only ever heard racism at a saints game once, from a tubby guy who shouted, "come on you black ****!!!" to one of our players at the time. I wasn't happy about it, so i told him to "shut up you fat ****". He stopped the bad language.
View From The Top Posted 30 September, 2011 Posted 30 September, 2011 Some serious Whoooooosh's on this thread!
1976_Child Posted 30 September, 2011 Posted 30 September, 2011 Unless you are sure you will have support around you don't confront them directly. Go to a steward and let them know. Also, there is a text message service in operation and you can discreetly txt which row and seat they are in and someone will come and investigate. If you confront them direct they might just start on you. And I completely agree that they should not be referred to as our 'fans'. They only bring shame and dishonour to our club.
