hamster Posted 28 September, 2011 Share Posted 28 September, 2011 Mrs hamster is off to a Greek island with her friend in a couple of weeks for a Shirley Valentine style break. Watching the news just now got me worrying whether it's safe for tourists at the mo. just how volatile is it over there?
scotty Posted 28 September, 2011 Share Posted 28 September, 2011 Meh, dont worry. She'll be knobbing a greek waiter in no time flat. Her money should go further than usual as well, its a win/win.

Dog Posted 29 September, 2011 Share Posted 29 September, 2011 Stay away from Athens, but the small Greek islands will be fine, just paint yourself olive and wear black pyjamas. Isn't it out of season in greece at the moment, all the bars and restaurants are shut, it will be full of English slappers trying to get their ferret wet. CB Saint Posted 29 September, 2011 Share Posted 29 September, 2011 Just come back from Greece. Went to athens and peleponese. Both are absolutely fine. The island are less affected by the economic situation that the cities. The islands are still getting the tourist income and are relatively self sufficient for food etc. Re the trouble is athens - it is usually contained to about three streets with the rest of the citiy being ok (accordingly to my family out there). hamster Posted 29 September, 2011 Author Share Posted 29 September, 2011 Thanks everybody peeps. Corfu, Acharavi is where they are headed. Lesbos scotty? LOL, you do make me laugh. btw, mrs hamster has shown no signs of lesbian tendencies before, and I've known her since I was 12. As for the Greek waiter's......I'd expect in the current climate they'd rather be receiving a tip than giving one... What's a Greek earn anyway?
